bored + movie reviews = passing time
Heyyy, the International Day of Slash is July 1st, same day "Prodigal" is going to re-run. Heh.
Johns, with David Arquette and Lukas Haas, has shades of Speedway Junky. Male prostitutes, a birthday wish, and stolen money that ends up getting someone killed. Sad and sad.
Jeffrey, with Steve Weber, Patrick Stewart, and Michael T. Weiss is a splendid, touching gem of a movie. It's about a man who becomes so disheartened with the AIDS epidemic that he gives up love (and sex) entirely. It's not a problem really, until he meets the man of his dreams.
Bad Seed stars Luke Wilson, Norman Reedus, and Dennis Farina, and I'm not going to mention the wife because she dies like fifteen minutes into the movie, so. Taking place in gritty Tacoma, Preston Tylk (Wilson) had a perfect life until his wife told him she was having an affair, and is shortly thereafter strangled to death. Suspicions run high, and Preston goes in pursuit of Jonathan (Reedus), the man his wife was having an affair with, because he is the first suspect that comes to mind. However, things go awry, and Preston turns to a detective (Farina) for help. What follows are a bunch of twists and turns, and a fairly tragic but realistic ending.
