TTT thoughts and such...
Right, so, I probably shouldn't have read the review for the preview coming this friday b/c I wanted to be suprised, but I couldn't resist. In short, it more than psyched me up! But then I scrolled down, down, down, and came to all the comments that various movie-goers/people had made. Mostly Oscar-centric. Now, here I shall rant:
True, FOTR shouldn't have won all the awards in all 13 categories, or even Best Picture. And I'm glad they didn't win all of them. The Academy is waiting for TTT and maybe even ROTK to come out until they bestow Best Picture upon them, thinking rationally and all that. However, I did feel as if they were slighted when PJ lost for best director. And Ian. Well, I haven't actually seen any of the other movies mentioned, but I'm willing to bet the other men who where nominated were probably pretty evenly matched. Still, Sir Ian might win next time; we can always hope. I mean, the man deserves an Oscar after all these years and all the work he's done!
Now, the technical awards FOTR won were most fitting. I'm a bit suprised they didn't win at least one of the big-hitters... but then again, like before, people are still probably waiting for TTT and ROTK to come out before they give them the oscar for Best Picture/Screenplay and such.
What did give me a rude head ache was Enya loosing best song. I'm sorry, but "May It Be" is beautifully composed, sung, and written. It fits the movie perfectly, carries well, and I felt it much deserved the Oscar. But I guess the Randy Newman pity monster took ahold of the Academy, and they had to give it him. *sigh*
Still, I though PJ should've won. I really did. That and Enya for best song. I was really pulling for FOTR to win best picture and screenplay and all that, but I knew there was a slim chance considering all the competition they were pit against and that they still have two more films to release.
All in all, the Oscars were a bit of a disappointment. Still, I suspected such...from "The Academy." @_@
