Is it just me, or does the whole Evanescence album 'Fallen' sound Clex-y? Might've been just because I was listening to it while reading Koi's revised Mercy and when writing my own fic, but - hmm. 'Tourniquet' just reminds me of Lex kicking ass - a modern iconoclast of the 21st century - a badboy seeking some kind of redemption from Supes, yet screaming and kicking all the way. 'Bring Me to Life', of course, linked forever in my mind to the metahuman/superhero thanks to Daredevil.
'My Immortal' is just a very melodious song and so angsty, and yet the chorus "you'd cry - I'd wipe away all your tears/you'd scream - I'd fight away all of your fears/I held your hand through all of these years" and other parts just kind of haunt my subconscious and make my inner-Clex cry. *sniff* Sounds like a guardian/protector, like Clark.
'Taking Over Me' is great, especially these lines, "I lie awake and try so hard/not to think of you/but who can decide what they dream?/and dream I do...." Also, part of the chorus "I believe in you/I'll give up everything just to find you" are Clex-y if you look at it from a Lex pov, striving to uncover Clark's secret.
'My Last Breath' contains the chorus "don't turn away/don't give in to the pain/don't try to hid/though they're screaming your name/don't close your eyes/god knows what lies behind them/don't turn out the light/don't die." Of course, this is referring to Clark ;)
Or, you know, maybe it was a little bit of a stretch.
