Maurice - movie slash/fanfic
OH my god. I am writing fanfic for the movie Maurice. It's movie-canon, not book canon. Oh well! I like the Maurice portrayed in the movie by James Wilby, so hah. Hehe. Set in Edwardian England, of which I have little to no knowledge of. Hmm. I should research, but it's 1 am and I am dead tired. I want to continue writing this but that will be impossible for tonight.
What I have so far, if anyone is interested (and it's only very little, the very beginnings of an idea):
The idea was insane. Preposterous. Down-right impossible to accomplish. But he was going to do it, if for nothing else than to spite an English society that was as oppressive and rigid as the bars to a prison cell where one was shackled in chains for life. But Maurice would break free, as sure as the sky would be blue the morning of his escape. Still, his mind was not at all that clear, but muddy in some areas, and frighteningly jumbled in others. Jittery and on-end were his nerves.
The next morning at the boathouse, Alec said to him, “You’ve going to git yourself a headache if you don’t quite thinking so hard.”
“I’ve only to think this through, and once the plan is accomplished, then we will truly be free.”
Alec swathed a tattered robe atop his shoulders and left it hanging open as he walked over to the chair where Maurice reclined, his blond head rested against the heel of his palm. Alec ran his fingers gently through the golden strands, fondling them when he wished, humming quietly a nonsensical tune underneath his breath. Maurice found the tuneless sound comforting, a balm to his frayed nerves that gently repaired the patches of his well-worn soul, piece by little piece. He was more determined than ever to see this through.
“I have it,” Maurice exclaimed, looking up at Alec with smiling eyes. “This is what we shall do....."
tbc.
To better acquaint people with who/how the characters look like:

From left to right, Hugh Grant as Clive Durham and James Wilby as Maurice Hall.

Regular photo Rupert Graves, who is Alec Scudder in the movie. Second is pic from the movie itself.
