Flexible In-Person Workshop for BHI Students

The Open Clock Workshop offers BHI member a unique opportunity to bring in their own horological projects to work on in the BHI’s fully equipped workshop. Allowing them to make use of the facilities to further their own learning at their own pace. whether it is for a little guidance, to make use of tooling not available in their own workshop or simply practice techniques with guidance available to assist or for examinations, the workshop is available to use for what ever purpose the member requires.

With the presense of an experienced tutor for those difficult problems or to give guidence when needed it is the perfect opportunity to undertake some supported independent learning.

Whether you’re working on a restoration, constructing a specific component, or refining your bench skills, this flexible format allows you to focus on your individual goals with expert guidance on hand.

What’s Included:

  • Work on your own horological projects at your own pace

  • Receive one-to-one support from experienced BHI tutors

  • Use of fully equipped Clock and Watch Workshops

  • A chance to build confidence, refine techniques, and troubleshoot challenges with professional input

This workshop is ideal for students at any stage of their training who are seeking additional time, space, and support to develop their skills or complete coursework. Students need to have attended Basic Hand & Machine skills or be able to show prior learning.

Ross has been a professional horologist for nearly 20 years. He studied with the BHI and at the School of Jewellery at Birmingham City University. Ross is the Vice Chairman of the BHI.
