There are so many things I appreciate about Walter, but one of my favorites is "I believe women" and as an abuse survivor, that makes him a safe space for me. I've watched him over time, before subscribing, and he stands by his description in his bio.
Neil just fascinates me. He writes about so many different ideas and really, I believe he's just an eternal thinker. I first discovered him on Notes and I'm working through his articles now.
Jason is outspoken and I appreciate his devotion to speaking out for women in general, and specifically, his wife and daughters. He's vulnerable and kind in the most outlandish ways. He love animals and takes beautiful photos of them. I don't always feel as outraged as Jason, but I definitely support him in right to feel outraged.
Marylee was one of the first writers to personally reach out to me on Substack. It meant a great deal. She writes in a genre and style much different than my own, but I enjoy stepping out and exploring how other writers work. She's also quite excited about the work she's doing and I appreciate that about her.
I've learned so much about US government and politics from Sharon. She's thoughtful and fair in her writing. Her hopefulness also helps me wade through the muck of what has become our government. I wish every American would listen to her reason and learn more about our history from her.
Melissa creates unique nostalgic art. In fact, I own one of her prints. She's a sensitive, caring soul who brings much joy into the world, and we all need people like that in our lives, on and offline. She creates characters whom I wish were real.
I am not a paid subscriber for Kristina, but only because I budgeted that $ for David McIlroy, another writing/promoting Substacker, and I prefer reading rather than watching videos. She is excellent if you'd rather learn through videaos. I did meet Kristina online when she was teaching about Notes, and I was inspired by her energy and desire to help other writers.
David was one of first paid subscriptions on Substack. He provides a ton of practical and useful information about writing with Substack. He interviews interesting people on his podcast. He writes horror novels that really scare me. Most importantly, he's a really nice Irishman who looks out for his fellow writers and works to help them succeed, however they might describe success.
Han is just bold and brave! I enjoy reading the adventures of her everyday life, and I support her as a paid subscriber because she is authentic and delightful.
