Recapping an Incredible WALKTober!🚶🍂
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our four WALKTober walks throughout the month! From visiting ancient trees in Stanley Park, strolling along the waterfront to Diwali Fest in New Westminster, exploring how walking can transform public space in Vancouver, and strolling through history with Hogan’s Alley Society in Strathcona, everyone kept the fall vibes warm, no matter the weather!🍂 🌧️. Whether you joined for one, two, or all four walks, we hope you were able to enjoy the brisk and refreshing air while connecting with your neighbours.

During our WALKTober walks, we asked Living Streets participants to share some of their thoughts, feelings, barriers, and motivations around walking in Metro Vancouver. Listen here to hear about how they experience walkability in their own neighbourhoods.
Join our Living Streets Meetup Group to stay tuned for future walks!
What a Year for Eco-Voyage 📚🌎
Eco-Voyage has been busy engaging with newcomers at multi-modal transportation workshops in 2025. BEST will wrap up the year having delivered 16 workshops, building the sustainable transportation skills of ~370 participants!
From our Eco-Voyage survey results, we have learned that:
77% of respondents reported feeling ‘very confident’ or ‘confident’ in using multi-modal transportation modes after participating in a workshop.
There is increased interest from participants in cycling, bike-share and car-share after participating in a session.
The top 3 reasons often influencing mode choice were convenience, time to reach the final destination, and cost of the mode.
Hear it for yourself! Check out a participant testimonial, where a Langara College student shares how useful attending the workshop was in gathering data for an active transportation project.
We are excited for Eco-Voyage programming in 2026! Curious to bring a workshop to your community? Email farinaz.rikhtehgaran@best.bc.ca to book today.
