"By the way, if you would like a transcript of tonight's show...write down every word."

I love Steve Martin! I was talking to silverthoughts this evening whilst I was watching the Oscars and we had extensive chats about actors....yes, I know you're all saying "But how is this different to any other actor convo the two of you have ever had?" well...we both love a lot of the same actors/actresses and agree on alot of things :) One of them was how bloody funny Steve Martin is :)

I'm still watching the Oscars at the moment and have a bit of a rant/gush ready to go, but I really don't know where to start...So here are some random thoughts:

- Queen Latifa's grey dress was pretty awful :P
- Catherine Zeta-Jones looked lovely and very radiant. Loved it when she received the award from Sean Connery, it was so...*squee*
- I love Julie Andrews. She's so bubbly without being overbearing and she's so...wonderful :) What a gun!
- Steve Martin's one-liners. Have I already mentioned how funny he is? Or atleast, the scriptwriters for the Oscars...
- Meryl Streep, she's so delightful when she laughs.
- Nic Cage. This is only vaguely related cos I read it in the paper the other week, but Hilary Hahn, one of the tarty little violinists on the world circuit who is all tits and ass (but a fairly okay player) turned him down for the Oscars. I find this amusing. *hee*
- If I saw one more closeup of Marty Scorsese...as much as I love his directing, I don't really need to see him 50 billion times during the show.
- Am happy that LotR:TTT got some awards, esp the technical ones they got, as they were well deserved. I'm not one of those who was all "they were robbed, they missed out so much lala la" b/c frankly TTT just doesn't hold up against the competition in the non-technical categories.
- I will say that one person stood out as being robbed though...U2 didn't get best song. *pout* [keeping in mind that I'm still 1hour away from the ending]
- I really must see a whole stack of films now: The Pianist, Gangs of New York, Chicago, The Hours, Adaptation...I really am behind in my viewing, aren't I?
- Peter O'Toole aka Lawrence of Arabia is a funny bugger! "As I totter toward antiquity..." *rofl* The man has a way with words :)

Now I shall continue watching...it's the final hour and Peter O'Toole just got his honorary Oscar. We still have Best female actor in a lead role to go...And I am actually spoiled for that (regretably), but ah well, shall try to forget momentarily :)
