I went to wickedcherub's house and stole most of her DVDs!

Well, I didn't steal them. She thrust a whole stack of them at me...certain titles that I've been needing to watch because I haven't seen them, other favourites of ours, that kind of thing.
She also lent me her QAF soundtrack, so I finally have my own copy of it, that isn't in slightly dodgy mp3 formats :D

So, last night I watched...*drumroll*

Velvet Goldmine

Which I hadn't seen before. And I absolutely love now!
So here's a really short version of what I thought about it, just after I finished watching it last night.


A Star is born..and she Twinkles!

Didn't find it confusing or unclear, as some people wickedcherub did. [Aside: she'd said that just as I was leaving her house.]

Really liked it overall, nice look and feel to it.
Nice twist on the musical genre, enough flesh without being totally racy all the time, great costumes, colours, textures (JRM's flesh in particular...)

I'm a fan of the decadent, lush film, so it all went down well as did all the singing. I am totally a JRM convert now, like never before. The man is an absolute stunner.
Ewan/Curt is...gorgeous, but an absolute psycho. Loved Curt in the film, suitably crazy, eclectic...just plain mad really.
