Hello all! I come bearing The News. :P

Obviously first, the big one: Infinity War came out this April. Currently the comm as a whole is a spoiler free zone but if you want to discuss/squee/cry, please go to our dedicated post.

If you'd like to host or suggest ideas for an All The Things Friday we'd love to hear from you, head this way.

In the wider world: We've got another trailer for Ant Man and the Wasp which looks exactly as lighthearted and ridiculous as I was hoping for. AND two separate trailers for Deadpool 2 which looks EXCELLENT in my opinion, as well as Celine Dion doing the main music with a video which is honestly everything I hoped for. The Black Widow film is definitely maybe happening, and there's also something to do with a Venom film? But I wasn't really paying attention. In other news though, apparently five of the original six Avengers (so, minus Ruffalo) have got matching tattoos, which is just kinda really cute.

In comics, we got the conclusion to the Tales of Suspense Winter Soldier, Hawkeye and Black Widow story which was... well, I loved the banter, less the actual plot. And my god the art was ugly, but hey, that's just my opinion. Kelly Thompson's Hawkeye also concluded (boo!), though it was nominated for an Eisner (yay!) and the last issue implied Kate would be returning in August (double yay!). Also, Old Man Hawkeye continues to be a thing.

Have I missed anything? Let me know! (Though also be aware that I am one of a handful of people who hasn't seen IW yet. My brain is being so nice to me right now guys. :/ )

Also has been busy getting the comm's tumblr account going again - check it out, so much Clint and Natasha goodness that even I'm starting to spend some time on tumblr again! Submissions, reblogs, and cross-posting of fanworks all welcome.

In the wider world, February was the month of Black Panther (!!!) and it was announced that we're all getting Infinity War on April 27th (I am not prepared).

YESSSSS HELLO FEBRUARY, THE MONTH OF BLACK PANTHER.

Ahem.

Yes, so! February is upon us! It is soon Black Panther time! And also, soon time for our Valentines Mini Promptathon 2018! Are you excited? Are you ready and raring to go? The comm's been a little quiet recently, but perhaps you've been busy writing for Chocolate Box (chocolateboxcomm), whose reveals are on the 14th? (I know that's what I've been doing anyhoo). Related to this, I'm thinking of trying to revive the B_C tumblr account, so if anyone has any suggestions relating to that, I'd be happy to hear them.

All The Things Friday: If you'd like to sign up to host ATTF, make suggestions, or just see what's coming next then this is the post for you.

And from around the internet: The Superbowl gave is another teaser for Infinity War, though still no Clint. :( We've also got trailers for Jessica Jones season 2 and the first look at Brie Larson as Captain Marvel! We also got the 10 Years of the MCU photoshoot and character poster, which is quite something. Ten years! Who'da thunk it. In the comics world, the fun and fantastic Hawkeye comic by Kelly Thompson has, unfortunately, been cancelled, but on the other hand, we have also been given some A+ Clint and Kate interactions, so I guess it even's out? (Spoiler: it does not even out). No news if Hawkeye (either of them) or Black Widow will get their own solo run any time soon, but there is the Old Man Hawkeye limited series, which is... a thing, I guess.

It might seem like only five minutes ago we were enjoying the summer promptathon - and if you haven't already seen it we have a masterlist of the wonderfulness here - but keep your eyes open for Secret Santa 2017 sign ups coming your way soon!

PROMPTATHON 2017: This year's summer Promptathon extravaganza is a go! Prompting is open RIGHT NOW. Fills start Saturday August 5th and end Saturday August 19th.

IMAGE LINKS: You may have noticed that most of the comm's images have been replaced with a rather ugly Photobucket broken link image. The main comm layout has now been fixed. The issue is that Photobucket, which is where we host our images, have changed their rules so that to have third party hosting - in other words to save images there and then embed links to them elsewhere - means you now have to have a paid account with them, costing $400 a year. Which for obviously reasons we will not being doing.

We're sorry for the mess. All images are still viewable and downloadable on our Photobucket site if there's any that you would like - we're be_compromised on there too. If anyone has any recommendations for other image hosting sites we're all ears.

COMMUNITY BANNER: Our current colourful banner is from slytheringurrl! If you'd like to make a shiny new banner for our comm then please send them in to be_compromised@hotmail.com

be_compromised is (mostly) moving to Dreamwidth

Hello folks of the bar,

Thank you for all of your feedback on our LJ Changes Discussion post. We've decided that the most practical solution that best suits the majority of our community (to the best of our knowledge) is to move the community to Dreamwidth and maintain a presence on LJ.

How this will work:

The community is now set up and live on Dreamwidth HERE. This will be our new home.

Please post all new posts to the Dreamwidth version, which has a moderation queue the same as we've had on LJ. Please also comment on the Dreamwidth version. If you don't have a personal Dreamwidth account you can do this using OpenID. If you have any problems, please do let us know - there's bound to be a few things that need cleaning up post-move.

On a monthly basis we will post a version of the usual monthly news post along with a list/summary of links and activity to Livejournal so that people on LJ will still have updates on their Friends page/news feed letting them know what's happening and giving you a place to chat in comments on LJ if you choose.

It's our comm annibirthday this weekend - that came around again quickly! - which is great timing for our traditional friends and friending meme. We're having a party, so people can friend the new Dreamwidth account, find each other on Dreamwidth, make new friends, and work out ways of keeping in touch. Consider this your invitation :)

It's an absolute pleasure being mods for this community and we hope to carry as many familiar friends with us to Dreamwidth as we can. You're all wonderful and THIS IS THE BEST BAR.

LJ Changes/Dreamwidth update

We are currently in the process of importing the community to Dreamwidth (where it is also be_compromised) as on the discussion post people seemed in favour of at least backing up the community there. Please be aware that the queues for importing are currently long and then there will be coding that will need amending. We are also still dicussing our options, as in how we're actually going to use the Dreamwidth side. So please don't use the Dreamwidth community for anything just yet! Although feel free to join it as a memember :)

In the meantime, we'd still like to hear your thoughts on this discussion post. We're listening and we're using this to discuss as mods what direction the comm takes.

ATTF: MCU versus Comics: To Choose or Not to Choose?

Dear Comm Members (those of you who haven't scattered yet out of fear of the new LJ Terms of Service):

I think most of us here are fans of both the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and its progenitor/parellel universe, the Marvel Comics and their various divergent versions (616, Ultimates, Fraction/Aja, Edmunson/Noto ...). Because once you love Clint and Natasha, you can't get enough of them - I know I've been digging up even some vintage versions of them since the days when I professed complete ignorance of the comics 'verse.

So tell us - do you have a preference? Slight or definitive? Do you prefer terse, flinty-eyed, Ultimates-inspired Hawkdad from the MCU; the human-car-crash-but-still-professional Fraction version; or the atonement-driven Occupy Avengers guy in the tac suit? Do you harken back to the femme fatale assassin of the 616; or do you prefer the sarcastic Avengers whisperer played by Scarlett Johansson, or the guilt-ridden, liquid-eyed cat lover created by Phil Noto?

Or do you do pick and choose what you like and mash them up into the kind of convergent whole Marvel never seems to quite manage?

And while you're at it, do you have any recs you can share for your favourite fanfic version of Clint and/or Natasha (whether inspired by one of the "originals" or completely different)?

And finally, do you foresee any convergence of the comics verse and the MCU in the forthcoming Avengers 3 and 4?

LJ Changes Discussion

For those who might not be aware, since the start of 2017 there have been changes to Livejournal with servers moving to Russia and, most recently, a change in LJ Terms & Conditions. We would like to share with you some of our thoughts on this and then we would like the community's input, with a view to possibly making some changes. Your mods may be manning the bar, but without all of YOU there is no community. Your views are important so please do comment after reading. Thank you.

Please be aware that your mods are nowhere near the likes of Tony Stark in technical knowledge and futurist thinking, however: never asumme that information you post on any social media is entirely private. Social media companies hold the rights to your information (see: instagram owns all your photos, see: you can never completely delete your Facebook). In addition, unless you are very, very good there will be someone better than you who can crack your security; we can take precautions but we are not immune. This has not changed with LJ. It's just that instead of LJ being in Trump's America it's now in Putin's Russia. Your opinions on those administrations and on your online rights associated with companies located within them are your own.

Our Position: Your mods are not panicking, but we are wary of these changes. They do not at first glance impact the main activities of this community - a main change in the T&Cs concerns politics for example - but with things such as this and Russia's LBGTQ rights record we are wary. We also, of course, have to take into account our members. If the majority of you move elsewhere then it would make sense for the community to follow the community.

Dreamwidth: An alternate social media site that we could host the community on is Dreamwidth. It is relatively easy to import a community there from LJ. There are pros and cons to Dreamwidth vs LJ and these are different for personal journals and communities. KEY POINTS: we could import the entire community including all of the comments to Dreamwidth. You can't crosspost on communities and future comments would not crosspost, although we could re-import the community on a semi-regular basis. Dreamwidth has an OpenID log in system so that you can comment there using an LJ, and other, online identities - you do NOT have to have a personal Dreamwidth account to post to a Dreamwidth community (although it makes it easier). None of your mods are familiar with Dreamwidth and there may be stumbling blocks that we wouldn't know about until we trip over them.

Options under consideration:

1) We keep the community on LJ. We back it up on Dreamwidth and re-import to Dreamwidth on a semi-regular basis to keep it current. We do not moderate or use the Dreamwidth version. It remains inactive unless needed in the future.

2) We keep the LJ community AND have a Dreamwidth community. How this would work: we re-import semi-regularly to Dreamwidth, we comment on both, we moderate both, we keep both active. Dreamwidth would have BOTH LJ and Dreamwidth posts. LJ would just have LJ posts. Dreamwidth would (hopefully) end up with the comments from both. LJ would just have LJ comments.

3) We move the community to Dreamwidth and maintain a presence on LJ. Dreamwidth would be the main community but monthly/ on a semi-regular basis we would post a summary post to LJ with links to Dreamwidth posts and activity, so people on LJ would know what was going on and could either comment/chat on LJ or use OpenID to comment on Dreamwidth.

4) We move to Dreamwidth completely. We archive the LJ version and don't use it at all.

For easy commenting you can copy and paste the following. Or you can just comment with whatever you think about all of this. The important thing is that we have a discussion as a community, so please do comment. There is no deadline for this post and we open to changing our minds (again) in the future. However, if you could comment before MONDAY 17th APRIL that would be helpful.

Hello all and welcome to your weekend entertainment!

This week's ATTF is all about the recs.

Comment with something that you'd like to read/see. It could be a specific fic, fanvid, graphic, meta post etc that you remember but just can't quite remember the title of or no longer have a link to. It could be something that you're really in the mood for, like hurt/comfort, Avengers as family, sexy times. It could be that you've recently gotten into a new Marvel pairing (or threesome or moresome!) or you're after something classic MCU or a type of AU or comics related or...anything under the sun or the darkest of starless nights. Please post an individual comment per request, but feel free to comment as many times as you want - like we do for prompts for promptathons. Basically this is prompathon but with recs. (Oh the cleverness of the title for this week's ATTF *grins*)

The rest of us will then reply with recs. Multiple recs allowed, self recs allowed, ALL THE RECS! I have faith in the vastness of your bookmarks.

And y'know what? If you want to share things and there's no comment request for that sort of thing? REC IT ANYWAY. Because sometimes we don't know we're gonna like it until we meet it :)

It's spring, Bar! (Well, technically. I don't know about where you are, but the weather here vehemently disagrees with the change of seasons.)

But anyway, spring is our theme this weekend! I want to hear your head canons, recs, and comment fics! Does Clint pick a ridiculous bouquet of wildflowers for anyone? How about some hijinks with Avengers and baby animals, perhaps on the Barton farm? What does spring mean for the Tower or the Compound?

Things to remember:
1) Always label NSFW (Not Safe For Work) stuff in the title and post under a cut.
2) Fic and artwork needs to have a rating and warnings (or you can say that you’ve chosen not to use warnings).
3) For people with annoying internet connections, say in the title if a comment is graphic/images/gif-heavy and post picspams under a cut.
4) Have a damn good time! (Because if that’s not happening then this post has clearly failed.)

Hello, Bar!

Guess what? It's time to do talk about what one might expect to talk about in a bar: Alcohol!

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, this (belated West Coast, sorry :p ) ATTF is all about Clint, Natasha, and drinks this week.

What are your head canons, Bar? Does Natasha love vodka as much as some fanon would have us believe? Does Clint have a secret guilty pleasure for espresso martinis? Who becomes a sap when they're three drinks in, and have there ever been any booze-fueled confessions in their relationship? (Or, if you want to go the angst route, does anyone have a problem with alcohol?) Tell me all of your thoughts, Bar! Pull up a seat and bring your drink of choice.

Happy ATTF Friday! I missed hosting last week (we'll blame my parents visiting for that one) but remembered this week (because I is smart and put it in on my calendar this time)... So here we go! *g*

Three sentences. They can say a little or they can say a whole lot. They can be a tease or they can be the whole shebang. So today's challenge is crafted around that theme.

1) Post three lines from a WIP to show us what is coming up. Tease us, entice us, make us beg you for more!

2) Be creative and write a complete fic for the Bar in just three lines. Bonus points for creative use of semi-colons, colons, dashes, and ellipses. ;)

Our March banner is another beautiful throwback, this time by perpetuations.

If you'd like to make a banner for the community we'd love to see it! Send them in to be_compromised@hotmail.com!

1) Everyone is invited to play, seriously, everyone!
2) Banners must be safe for work.
3) Banners must have a width of 800 and a height of 350 and preferably be a png or jpg file.
4) When new films etc come out please don’t use images that could be spoilers until general DVD release. (If you want to use something and you're not sure if it counts as a spoiler or not, PM me or email.)
