Drive from Baltimore, MD to Nashville, TN. Pass approximately a millionty cops in VA. Find a random roadside hotel to spend the night.

Breakfast at the Loveless Cafe in Nashville, TN.
Drive from Nashville - New Orleans, LA. Arrive at Kelly's father's uncle's home. Discover what 'old Southern money' actually means when they take us to their yacht club for dinner. Not what I expected when she said, 'we're going to stay with my family.'

Wandering into a bookstore in the French Quarter revealed this most excellent literary category:
Lunch at Coop's Place included gumbo, rabbit & shrimp jambalaya, and red beans and rice.

We left NOLA for Austin, TX. The first part of our drive was through the bayou.
Driving through Houston
The back roads to Austin were beautiful, and lined with tall, wavy grass.
Dinner was BBQ at The Iron Works in Austin.
Austin was a pretty awesome city, all told.

Longest drive of the trip (Austin to Albuquerque) started on lovely back roads out of Austin.
The New Mexico sky seemed to go on forever.
The terrain got progressively drier.
A storm blew up while we were about 100 miles outside of Albuquerque
Thirteen hours of driving = room service meal + hiding in the hotel while Kelly went in search of food.

Day trip to Santa Fe!
Lunch = fajitas on a balcony overlooking the square
From which we could look down on a wedding party promenading after the ceremony.

Breakfast at The Gold Street Caffe was eggs eleganza w/ chile-dusted brioche and chile-dusted bacon. HOMG DELICIOUS.
Then we headed for Flagstaff, AZ.
En route, we stopped at the Painted Desert.

Oh HAI! I was so engrossed in a book, i didn't notice these elk walk into our campground until Kelly hissed at me to look UP.

Kelly and her mom dropped me off at a coffee shop in Oakland, CA, where I met up with
Did you know there are sea lions on the docks in San Francisco?
Yep. There sure are. One or two. Hundred.
E and I took the ferry back from San Fran to Oakland.

The next day, E took me to lunch @ a Vietnamese sandwich place. Delicious!
