Okay. This should work.

Once upon a time, there was a cat. And then this guy Peter decided he wanted a cat. So he flew to Lothlorien to get a cat. However, all he found were some elves. So he decided to go to the restaurant at the end of the universe, where he met a man named Daniel.
"Hi." he said.
"Hello." the other said, and then they ate food. Then, a cat walked in. They kidnapped it, went home, and then had sex, but the person who had caused this, aka Haruhi Suzumiya, couldn't come up with a plausible scenario so they just sort of did it.
And the cake was a lie.
