Oh, hello there—

We’re a measly week into 2025 and I’m already completely exhausted, but the horrors don’t stop, despite my heinous cold—my book is out and available for purchase!

I’m nervous, I’m scared, I’m proud, and I’m sad I can’t show my parents that their somewhat goofy daughter landed a Big 5 publishing deal.

It’s a strange feeling to accomplish stuff in the shadow of overlapping griefs. I feared and craved my parents’ judgements, and in their shared absence, I struggle to assess the relative importance or irrelevance of what I’ve made. L.A. burns while Gaza smokes; I watch black-box tech turn us into convenience-seeking islands that crumble at the slightest touch. I cling to my tired friends and aging dog with a bodily desperation. I don’t know how qualified I am to write about app obsolescence as dictated by our broken government. I don’t know what qualifications I have at all.

I’m grateful that you’re reading, and hopeful that 2025 will spare us the cruelties it promises.
