Many many years ago a tragic tale took place on the beautiful island of Cyprus. A woman who was to be married to a rich fisherman thought she'd be better off as dead. She swam as far as she could until she drowned. A clueless sea spirit took its chance and grabbed her soul while it was still fresh. Thus a mermaid called Veladine was born. With her human soul she can enter the human world by growing a pair of legs ( this can only happen when she's completely dry ), but even if a drop of seawater hits her she's bound to turn back into a mermaid. On the ground she also has to be careful of what to eat. If she eats the meat of something that has lived its life on the ground she will vanish. Her body can't handle the power of earth. Like any other mermaid she's curious, vain and quite simple. Veladine thinks she's more beautiful and better than anyone else. She despises human girls who often stand in the way of her hunt after the souls of human men. So far her collection consists of three souls. She keeps them safe, hidden and locked away in the bottom of the sea.

According to the ancient myths Jörmungandr is the sea serpent who surrounds the Earth. His enemy is the god Thor, who after a long battle with Jörmungandr banished him to the dark depths of Northern seas. Actually, this sea serpent was never one to play with gods as great as Thor. In his boredom he simply turned himself into a man and spread rumors of himself all over the superstitious vikigins' Scandinavia and the legend was born ( someone changed the original ending though ). After countless years of ship terrorizing he has returned on the ground, more bored than ever. He doesn't really care for humans or their manners, but they often make him confused. In his human form he could be described as a stoic character who has his goofy moments. To turn back into a sea serpent he only needs to concentrate. On the ground he doesn't have any special powers, but everyone knows how dangerous a gigantic sea serpent can be.

Jimmy is a cowboy. His horse is called Pepe. Pepe is more important to him than any woman will ever be. He enjoys riding and sunsets. After having seen his old buddy being hanged he has taken a dislike towards the law. The world would be better off without the law and the damn bastards who misuse it for their own purposes, he says. Despite his bitter past Jimmy a good fella. Some call him Jimmy Big Brown. Who knows why....

Benjamin hates women, dogs, dirty apartments, rain, diseases, dust, rats and children. The only things that can catch his interest and maybe even bring a smile on his pale face, are butterflies. He enjoys watching and collecting them. They're his obsession. He keeps writing about them to the local newspapers but for some reason they don't often share his interest. As an unemployed and rude person one would expect him to be broke, but the money he gets from his stupid aunt ( whom he hates ) keeps him in the circles. This often attracts unwelcome maidens after him, but he's usually rather quick to get rid of them.

Having been told her father was a pirate Dominga took it for granted that's she'd become as free and brave as her father. This has encouraged her to commit a bunch of stupid deeds. With her temperament and attitude she often finds herself in adventures and trouble. Being quite loud and impulsive she has had a thousand of jobs and more keeps coming. If the job includes human interaction she can't hold it for very long. If it isn't the smell of the cuban cigars she constantly keeps smoking that gets her ass fired it's the punch that in the worst scenario caused a customer to be carried into the nearest hospital. She doesn't give a damn really.

Lucy is innocent and naive. Some might call her a fool. Having spent most of her life inside her home, only accompanied by her mother and aunt she has grown up to be quite awkward when it comes to social encounters. Even though she wants to do good and be friendly she ends up ignored most of the time. Her family would like her to get engaged as soon as possible, but right now this seems like a difficult task.
