Our History
The College of Basic Education was established in the academic year 2000–2001. It consists of the following departments: Kurdish Language, Social Sciences, Mathematics, English Language, General Sciences, Kindergarten, and Arabic (in evening studies). In the academic year 2001–2002, the departments of Mathematics, Social Sciences, and English were opened. In the academic year 2003–2004, the departments of General Sciences and Kurdish were opened. In the academic year 2008–2009, the Kindergarten department was opened. Furthermore, in the academic year 2012–2013, evening studies were launched for teachers of the Ministry of Education with the aim of developing and enhancing their capabilities in their specialized fields. That year, five departments were available in the evening studies program: English, Kurdish, Social Sciences, General Sciences, and Mathematics. Based on a decision resulting from two comprehensive workshops held across the Colleges of Basic Education in the universities of Kurdistan, it was decided that the college’s name be officially changed to “College of Basic Education.”.
