On the underside in several recessed stripes as well as on the side bevels, however, the case is held in high gloss. However, this is hardly visible in use, because the entire upper side of the keyboard is covered by a matte black metal plate. The only noticeable decoration is a green illuminated LED strip, which is located at the front of the device and runs almost across the entire width. The font used for the keys is also interesting because all closed circles are broken in this case. In some cases, such as the &#8222;&amp;&#8220; character, we find this a bit strange. This means that these labels naturally don&#8217;t match the color of the respective LEDs. On the other hand, the problem of inhomogeneous illumination is avoided.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of build quality, there is nothing to complain about with the Speedlink Vela. The keyboard and the keycaps are haptically pleasant and solidly built. The case is torsion-resistant, the keys sit firmly and the gap dimensions are completely appropriate for the price.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"practice-ergonomics\"><\/span>Practice &amp; Ergonomics<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Speedlink does not officially specify the buttons installed in the Vela, but at least our model has Blue switches from Jixian installed. These seem to be based on the commercially available Cherry MX Blue: The typing feel is roughly comparable, and the acoustic feedback when the keys are triggered is also relatively bright. Whether the switches can keep up with the original in a direct comparison remains to be seen, but the typing feel is by far superior to that of all commercially available rubber dome keyboards. The line-by-line multicolored color scheme is of course a matter of taste, but the built-in LEDs are bright enough in any case. In addition, the Vela offers several dynamic effects for the keys, such as an afterglow when the key is pressed, breathing or a running light, in addition to a static glow that can be (de)activated for each key. The effects are switched through by FN+Roll. Optionally, they can be configured with FN and the arrow keys with also the brightness (four levels + off) and the speed.
