powers, skills, pets and equipment: Being the type of man he is and how he’s lived his life, he doesn’t exactly have any real abilities or powers. That asides from his skill with a gun and the fact that he’s got a contract with the chain, March Hare, which is more of a defensive-type chain rather than an offensive one.
By saying that, I mean that while most chains are ones that attack outwardly, this one seems to have only one purpose. When it's contractor's life is in a dire situation, the March Hare can be used to make them appear and seem believably dead; in other words, it puts them in a death-like state without the contractor actually dying. It's a defensive mechanism pulled by animals so their predator will just leave and go onto the next prey, and carries over into this aspect. Though in this state, one never knows how long they will be out and the wounds do not simply 'recover', it does save Liam from dying as long as his enemies are not aware of his chain's ability.
Chain aside, Liam is also exceptionally cunning as well and has exceptional loyalty to those close to him, but in the end, he’s still the type of man to be the one who is ‘best suited’ for desk work, as put to by Xerxes Break himself.
When he arrives in Anatole, he will not have anything on him other than the clothes on his back and his broken glasses.
canon history: When we first meet Liam, it’s at one of the Rainsworth mansions a short time after a man by the name of Vincent Nightray released a chain named Grim from within Pandora’s confinement. Pandora being the organization which he works for, one that is responsible for any business involving the monsters called chains and anything with the Abyss where they came from. He comes to warn both Sharon Rainsworth and Xerxes Break of this escape as they are some of the first to know as they can do something about it.
We don’t see him again for a while, but when we do, it’s during a meeting with some Pandora members, which include Vincent Nightray and Break whom are present as well. During this meeting, while Oscar and Vincent play each other in a chess game, they discuss Pandora’s current situation for a while and what had happened with Grim, in where the contractor involved with that chain was shot and killed. It hadn’t ended so well for dealing with it in Pandora and made it busier than normal. Though as they talk on this matter, Oscar made the mistake of letting it slip to Liam that Oz was freed from the Abyss, a proof that they were able to talk so freely and forget he was even there. Having the attention on him and knowing something like that made him freak out a bit, but he did promise to not tell anyone and swore his loyalty on it as such.
Liam later again appears a short time later when Vincent and his servant, Echo, kidnap Sharon Rainsworth and control her chain, Equues and makes it teleport both Oz and Alice [in her full chain form, the B-rabbit] out of Cheshire’s realm and directly to Pandora’s headquarters where the high-up Dukes were involved in a meeting. It was meant as nothing more than a distraction, though when he realizes this and Oz is being chased down by Pandora members, Oscar approaches Liam and asks for his help and to find Oz before Pandora does and to tell them not to attack him. On the way to do so, he’s freaking out a little and happens to be a fair bit spaced out so he doesn’t notice it until Break grabs him and pulls him into a room so they can talk. The man tells him that Gilbert, Vincent’s brother, will be down and out for a while due to the power he exerted when he used his own chain’s power to teleport both him and Break back from Cheshire’s realm, before telling Liam that he has some ‘business’ to attend to and go find Oz. When he does find him, it’s a little late but happens to witness something else.
Oz is speaking to Pandora but isn’t himself. He tells Pandora of their enemy’s plans. The ones called the Baskervilles plan to recreate an incident that happened over a hundred years ago; the tragedy of sabrie. He then reveals that he is not Oz Bezarius, but rather, his ancestor, Jack Bezarius. This, along with it being slipped that Oz has come back from the Abyss, he commands the respect of Pandora through these events, making them go to their knees when he gives them an order.
Things have changed here and even Liam can tell, not surprised when Gilbert, Oz and Alice soon arrange to meet with a man by the name of Duke Rufus Barma to gain some information involving the Baskervilles and other such matters. Since he is Barma’s servant, he becomes the group’s escort when they arrive, and while there, he witnesses a short battle between Barma and Break, even going as far as to put himself before Break in an attempt to stop Barma from going too far with it. He gets injured in the process and even goes as far as giving Break his coat a little later since the man’s coat is torn from the attack Barma had given to him before.
While there, they learn a lot about Break’s past and how he wasn’t always Xerxes Break, but rather Kevin Regnard back in the past before he lost his one eye. Liam had always been there for Break in the past when he’d come back from the Abyss, the man being cold, distant and a shell of who he had been once before. Back then, Liam had only been a child but had seen who he really was and how he became who he was today, staying by his side all this time.
He then appears/shows up again after Break and the others come back from traveling to Sabrie, where he talks to Break separate from all of the others. Through this talk, he discovers that Break’s used up so much power that he’s become almost entirely blind and that it’s only him and Oz who have noticed this. Naturally this worries Liam and he becomes concerned for his friend and how he’ll go on with this, but he promises that he’ll keep up the façade like he can still see. If only for Break as a friend and not of someone from Pandora.
Later, when the group, minus Break, went to see Barma again, Liam escorts them and even goes as far as to stick up for Break without another thought in his head. Though it comes with consequences as he’s later punished for talking back to his master, irregardless of who or why he’d done it. As well, it’s not /as/ important but he does attend a later meeting concerning Pandora and a mysterious box that was given to Oz by a man by the name of Master Rytas before he had died.
Not much was revealed about that in the chapter and as far as we all know now.
We see then, Liam when he attends Oz’s second coming of age ceremony on Isla Yura’s estate along with several other Pandora members. Being who he was, he was the one in charge of them, leading them around and surveying the area while looking for the Third Seal of Glen Baskerville - which is also called a sealing stone - and it cannot be broken at this time. Separated from the other main group, they all run into a little girl who had recently slaughtered a bunch of members already, and she has no hesitations in letting her chain, the Bandersnatch, attack him. Though she does stop it before it kills him, and she does see some fascination in him as she brings his unconscious body to a safer place within the lower levels of the mansion.
When he wakes, she reveals herself to be Lily, a girl already known by her red cloak to be a Baskerville. She explains to him that being who they are isn’t all by blood but that they’re chosen by something she refers to as being ‘accepted’ by the Light of the Baskervilles. Each one who sees it and is accepted by it is one who’s able to become one. It’s almost like a rite in a sense when one really considers it. Not able to do much else but listen, she takes his glasses and explains that she wants to be Liam’s friend for her own personal benefit as well as her chain’s as he needed more exercise. This coming only after Liam reveals that he too is a contractor with a chain but doesn’t say that his isn’t very strong and is for more defense than offense than anything else.
However, that doesn’t deter her and she thinks that his chain, who happens to be the March Hare, would be a good contender to help her chain get exercise. Liam hesitates for a long moment before he decides on a plan of action. He brings forth the March Hare and distracts Bandersnatch while he shoots Lily in the head, killing her as Bandersnatch starts to dissipate. Of course he believes it to be over, feeling a little bad that he had to kill a child but knew it was necessary considering the matter at hand and what she would have done if he hadn’t killed her.
Though before he can leave, Bandersnatch reappears and attacks him, slashing him up pretty badly with it’s claws as he falls back onto the ground, helpless to do much else. He hadn’t even yet gotten to go tell Break of the Baskervilles’ arrival and their plans which here had been unexpected. It seems as they too had been here looking for that sealing stone as well but there was more to it than even they had come to expect. Lily gets up a moment later, showing that she’s really not dead, but rather immortal. She steps onto his glasses a second later, looking crazed and manic as she declares that the both of them will be good friends and that she’d keep him as a hostage or even a prisoner so they can ‘play’
It’s after this that March Hare uses it’s special ability to put Liam in a believable death-like state. Nobody’s aware of this, however, and by the time he’s re-awoken, everyone’s gone. He takes no time in getting up and heading outside. It’s to go after Xerxes. He knows the man had likely seen him in that state to be acting that way as he was when he finally finds him facing off against the baskervilles. The name he calls out upon arrival happens to be of the young Baskerville, Lily. It’s enough to distract her that Break ends up managing to be able to kill one of the Baskervilles, and shortly after that is when Sharon arrives and the enemy flees.
Here, Liam is able to speak with Break, telling him all about his ability with his chain; something he hadn’t been able to do before because he had been told to use it only as a last resort and under those dire circumstances, he had no other choice. Before Sharon uses her chain, Equues to send him off to safety, the last thing he hears is from Break telling him he’s glad he’s alive.
personality: Liam is a very hard working individual.
He appears to be the only member of Pandora who does any work from what we have seen of him in canon. Two of his biggest pet peeves are laziness and procrastination which are high on his hate list as it usually equals him running around after those who haven't handed in paperwork, or even going to the extent of having to do said person's paperwork himself if need be. Almost all the time does he seem to find it difficult to understand just why someone would rather put off work than just get it over and done with. Despite his hard work and exceptionally diligent nature, Liam happens to be the kind of man with what one would call a ‘lack‘ of presence when you compare him to his other coworkers. He can be placed in the same room as two people, and they can completely forget he was ever there – something of a gift, as Liam often ends up gaining a lot of information he wouldn't have heard otherwise, but a curse in that he often has to bear heavier burdens because of all this new knowledge.
Even with these other traits, Liam is also incredibly easy to rile up; a trait that his co-workers know and abuse mercilessly. It probably doesn't help when these lead to having wonderful reactions, ranging from mildly annoyed to all out shouting fits when pushed to the edge of his nerves Yet even with all the teasing, Liam is a very empathetic, trustworthy and caring person to those he deems a friend (even if said people are usually at the top of his 'annoyances' list most of the time). He’s rather perceptive enough on top of this; to figure out when something is wrong with someone (especially if he is close to that person), but also willing to keep secrets for them if that's what they wish, even if the secret would be better out in the open. He has enough maturity to understand when a secret should be kept for the benefit of others, and when it should be told as well.
He is also very loyal; willing to put himself between a friend and his own master to take a physical blow on their behalf.
Liam is as well the type of man who knows when to prioritize things and what takes precedence, though sometimes loyalties and the lengths to what he’d do for those close to him hasn’t always lead to pleasant situations as seen in recent canon chapters.
why do you feel this character would be appropriate to the setting? Liam lives in a world where there’s monsters such as chains that rampage around, and while he doesn’t have a lot of experience with it, he knows how to handle himself in a tight situation. Here would be no different and I believe he’d be able to adjust and handle things appropriately within Anatole.

…Honestly. How do these work…?
[The voice is a bit static-y and heard before the video feed flicks on, showing Liam’s slightly exasperated face, brown eyes narrowed in dissatisfaction] ..Ah.
Xerxes. I see you’ve neglected to fill in the appropriate paperwork from your last client. I am aware you are busy but you could do a little bit of work outside of what you do already.
[A sigh and he pushes his glasses up the bridge of his nose where they had slipped down slightly]
Please do see about contacting me before more work arrives and I could work in getting something arranged before anything does pile up.
