If you use the water balloon example from above, but now imagine the balloon has burst under pressure \u2013 That\u2019s a herniated disc.<a class=\"citation\" href=\"#C1\">[1]<\/a><a class=\"citation\" href=\"#C3\">[3]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you can see a <a href=\"https:\/\/backintelligence.com\/herniated-disc-exercises\/\">herniated disc<\/a> might be worse. Only hold the plank for as long as you can engage your core muscles without straining the low back muscles.<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Other forms of exercise that may help, that were not mentioned above include core strength, walking, pilates, and yoga.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing a primary musculoskeletal care provider is the best approach if your symptoms are not resolving.
