How to embed Instagram posts to LiveJournal entries!
Ello, govna! This is a tutorial on how to embed IG posts into your LJ entries. Due to this post being a bit image-heavy, I've reduced the size of the screenshots. Please click to enlarge the photos!
First and foremost, let me just say... the embed code on Instagram does not work for LiveJournal, so don't bother with it. It's all about the links for this bad boy.
But there is a way to copy the link incorrectly; IG links typically look like this (see the URL highlighted in blue)
Notice the ?hl=en&taken-by=sirpatstew part of the URL? Yeah, you're gonna wanna delete that bit.
Make it look like this!:
Copy that URL and head on over to your 'Post an Entry' tab (or create one)! Be sure to stay on the HTML tab, instead of Visual editor. Just to keep things neat~
Click the on the little box with the ►[play] symbol (to ensure it's the right button, it should read 'Insert Media' in the hover text).
Once the media box pops up, paste the URL you've copied into it. Once finished, hit the 'Insert' button.
This is what you'll want to see immediately after inserting!
Previewing your entry is a great habit to get into - especially before posting to moderated communities. This is what your hard work and dedication should show you;
If you're satisfied with what you see, go on and Post Entry.
