TV: BSG - TO FRAKKIN' GALACTICA!!! (the final episode)

I got up early for it, even though I'm hangovery, but seeing that everyone on this show is drinking way to much I think I'm in good company ;)

I loved, I cried, I went What The Frak?, I laughed, I rolled my eyes, I cried more, I loved more, and in the end I did everything alltogether.

my personal cry baby cry moments

1. Lee saying "President of the colonies and admiral of the fleet departing"
- and then seeing THESE TWO getting on the ship.
Seriously, that totally got me. Bad, bad replacement for Bill&Laura.

2. "I owe you one"
Way to go, Boomer. You and the old man made me cry again. She really did repay him. When it counted. I've always had a softspot for Boomer.

3. The fleet going into the sun.
That was so much kitsch and melodrama, and it made me cry so much, and that was the old Battlestar Galactica theme in the score then, right? I could swear I've heard it, but I don't want to watch the scene again, because it made me cry. Goodbye, fleet. Goodbye, Anders.

4. Every frakkin' scene of Bill Adama right from saying goodbye to Lee&Kara.
Which pretty much means, I've cried through the whole ending. heeee.
The old man made me cry the most during the whole finale.

the WTF moments

1. Kara Thrace.
uhm, WHAT? That's the end of her storyline? Seriously? I feel cheated. It feels cheap. I'm not satisfied with this, you hear me stupid writers and producers and everyone who's responsible for that!

2. God is Gaius.
But, but, he is so small! and creepy. and has no sense of humor. Why would God want to look like that?

3. So how many Earths are there?
Does this mean we are on the Human/Cylon hybrid Earth? We are all half-Cylon? Or are we on Earth III. And if so, why didn't they find that Earth? And was Earth II not a very bad Sci-Fi series from the 90s (that I accidently kept watching, uhem...)? They confuse me... Also Hera as Eve is kinda, uhm, I don't know, disturbing?

4. The last scene 150,000 years later.
I was crying at that time, and then I started laughing so hard. And then I sobbed and laughed. The scene was so sad and so hilarious. And Mr. Moore's appearance totally threw me out of the scene, and personally I think the delivery of the lines was really bad. Tricia and James are usually way better, IMHO, and the way they played it made me not take it seriously. And so I laughed and cried because it was over and they ended it on that creepy note.

the niiiiiice moments

1. the fighting scenes.
one word: awesome.

2. the opera house vision.
niiiicely integrated.

3. "You are single minded. And have no sense of humor..."
Bill, the doc and Tigh chuckling. Might be one of my favorite scenes of the finale.
I love these three.

4. the score.
much love for the music. much, much love.

the random things

1. the chief.
oh, no. Don't be lonely for the rest of the days. You can come visit me.

2. the Tighs.
It's good to see the Colonel happy. He deserves it.

3. Six&Gaius.
are funny. I admit it. I still don't like them very much. But they are funny.

4. the Agathons.
I never got the huge Agathons love that seems to be going around, but it's nice to see they made it.

5. Lee
To quote Spike: ...you have stupid hair!!

Killing spree near my workplace...

I'm totally shocked at the moment.
The shooting spree that took place a few hours ago here in Germany was only a few miles away from my workplace.
My co-worker is from that town. I hold her in my arms crying this morning. She knows a lot of the kids from this school.

All the reports have said different things for hours. The number of victims has been raised with every hour.
Right now they say the 17-yr old boy killed 15 people (most of them students at the school) before he was killed in a gun shooting with the police.

He escaped after he went on the killing spree at his old school. He killed at least 10 students. The other people he killed were policemen and bystanders on his escape.
Apparently 1,000 policemen were present. The town where it took place has only 27,000 inhabitants including all the suburbs.

The final showdown took place in a little town right next to where my parents live. The kid of my cousin goes to school there, but she assured my sister on the phone just a few minutes ago that she picked her son up from school today and that he's safe and healthy doing his homework in his room right now.

I don't really know what to say. At the moment it still feels very surreal.
Why are people getting crazier and crazier these days?

Update: it's 17 dead people now, and 3 of them were teachers at the school.

it's my first day off since, uhm, I don't remember! (I'm allowed to take 30 days a year off, and I still have 25 left from last year, you do the math...)
and since I got nudged by, hmm, let me think, julione (twice! heee!), miss_sarac, red_sunflower, slackerace, danaid_luv, and sweet_ali, I ~~felt forced~~ decided to spend it here!
(I love you, too, girls, it's nice to be missed!)

and as it's the season of a new Joss show, I'll just dive unceremonially into fangirl ramblings. heee.

tv: dollhouse
I wasn't surprised. Which is a sad thing. Because ever since I've heard about the show, I was thinking "hmmm, ok, I don't see a way to make this work."
Then I've seen the show and thought "hmmm, apparently they haven't seen it either."

It wasn't that it was really bad. But it wasn't really good neither.
I can't connect to any of the characters. Which doesn't come as a surprise seeing the main character doesn't have any character. That's why I was fearing that it wouldn't work, and they didn't convince me otherwise so far.

So, I wasn't dissapointed because I didn't expect it to work. I was just a bit sad.

Only one thing did really dissapoint me. The lack of smart and witty dialogue. Uhm, what the hell was up with Joss? It's normally one of the two things you can count of when he writes something. He will break your heart and he will write ingenious dialogue.
I feel cheated. Boo!

Also with Helo running around and the Olmos/fatherly type comment and the programmable dolls who remind me of the Cylons before they knew who they were, it felt like an homage to BSG. (I'm being nice using the word "homage", actually it felt more like a crazy AU fanfic)

Add a bit of Police procedural and Alias and hey, completely "new" show.
(Oh, wait, I forgot the creepness factor. So it's also a bit of Fringe.)

And while we're at the creepiness topic. This show is creepy. And not in the good way. I feel uncomfortable with almost every character on this show. Bunch of creeps they are.
Or totally unremarkable, like Amy Acker...

What's the grapevine telling? Is it supposed to be getting better? I'm not ready to give up on it yet...

an obscene (?) phone call...

So a few minutes ago my phone rang (you notice the local time is kinda late?) and there was a guy (without caller-id, of-course) saying a cheerful "hello".
It was obvious that I had no clue who he was. So he asked me if I had no clue who he was. (the conversation was already very sophisticated as you will surely agree)
He said he was Nico, and I said a friendly "Hey Nico!" because I have a friend with the very same name. Who sounds totally different. Huh.

He noticed that I still didn't know who he was. I think I was kinda obvious about it. ("I still don't know who you are!")
So he told me he was my kinda neighbor. And that I was living at *insert my street and number*.
I got suspicious about that time (weeee, aren't I a fast one!)

He then told me that he didn't know if he should call me but he wanted to tell me that when my lights are on you can completely look into my appartment. I had an EEEK! moment then.

As I'm a curious nature I interrogatively placed some smart questions: "Huh?? What?? Seriously??"

He then thought he should make his story a bit more lively (Creative Writing 101) and told me I was very revealing during the last months (!!!) and probably never even thought about it and he just wanted to tell me because who knows who is watching (*insert my snort*) and that I'm probably totally flustered at the moment.

Actually I was more analytic at the moment and started to ask the important questions.
Which window/side?
("Sleeping room." Moooop. Wrong answer. "The next house is quite a bit away on that side." - "Not that much," he says...)
And you're watching for months now? That's so impolite! ("You're living in a dream world if you think even one man wouldn't watch in that situation!")
How did you get my number?
("Looked it up." Uhm, he couldn't have known my name from watching though, just saying...)

Then he says funny things like:
You are very well shaved!
- Me: "huh." (thinking he can't have seen so clearly then.)
And you have pretty g-strings!
- Me: "Ha! (I actually did that exclamation loudly) I don't own one single G-string!"
Ah. well, you know, these a little bit wider ones...
- Me: "Nope. Still wrong."
You have a very nice body.
- Me: (relieved) Good, now I know, you can't have seen anything!
Nonesense, you're like all women! Full of complexes! You have a great bust size.
- Me: Appearances are deceptive!
I just wanted to warn you, which is very nice of me, because now I won't get a free show anymore!!

He was obviously starting to get frustrated with me being not really that embarrassed (great, I can even annoy obscene phone callers in no time! I. HAVE. TALENT!) and wished me a nice rest of the night.

also (despite of the hilarity aspect)? why do the creeps always find me? *whines*

The X-files movie... (I want to believe)

...and boy was I disappointed!

I managed to be totally unspoiled (maybe I should have been spoiled then I would have had lowered expectations...*sings*), even though my sister is an über-fan. Let me tell you even she tried to make excuses for the movie in the end. Her theory was that it was a thank you to the fans, because they only care about seeing Mulder&Scully making out and living happily ever after.

I, for one was distracted by the offensively abstruse plot that had neither aliens nor a good conspiracy theory in it. But a stupid subplot instead. Oy!

It also felt extremely cheaply produced. And it wasn't scary AT. ALL.

You know, the only things I liked was the making fun of George W. and the Mulder&Scully in bed&kissing scenes., and the showing up of Skinner (almost forgot this! btw, the theater giggled [!] when he hugged Mulder, heeee!) But for that they could have given us a 5 min bonus on a Special-DVD. The sister had to agree with me. She said that would have been enough for her, too.

Also? I've seened the dubbed version (that's common overhere) and they've given Mulder a new voice. I hate when they do that! Grrr Arrrgh!

Oh, has anyone else noted that the shadows under the little boat in the end are totally heart-shaped? heeee. Maybe I just have an imaginative mind. Also I've totally seen it as an open ending to their relationship while my delusional shipper-sister thought it was clear that they will live happily ever after. So what's the common view on this? And people in the theater said the people in the boat weren't the two of them. I totally missed that (probably because I've seen heart-haped shadows instead...)

And a last question: when Mulder calls Scully after the car crash, what are the entries on his cell phone? That looked suspiciously like "Gillian" but not quite right... Was it Gilligan or something like that?

Doctor Horrible - The Final Act

Like everyone else I HAD FORGOTTEN IT WAS JOSS!
Why was I surprised? I should have known it. If there's fun there is ANGST and PAIN and stuff (to quote the Captain...)

Fillion was so so so awesome in his heroness here. I hate the homeless. Ness. ha! and his song *loves* and he totally had sex with Penny!
and then the doctor's evil spree was so entertaining.
An I loved the the fingirls/boys who didn't like Penny but totally would do the weird stuff. heee!

and then just like that. in all that fun, THEY HAD TO KILL THE LOVE OF THE DOCTOR'S LIFE.
NPH killed me with the delivering of his last line. dead. without a death ray.

I loved the whole lotta cameos though. It's like all the Mutant Enemy guys were there. Neat!

the lovely mefnord visited me last weekend and we had a great time watching BtVS eps. She only wanted to spend one night here as she was afraid I was an psychotic axe murderer (why are all people afraid of that?) but spent two nights instead, so I guess that proves I'm not!

the second evening we watched the funny S4 episodes. Plus Doomed, because we both couldn't remember what the hell happens in that one. (we only had the German titles, so it took us quite some time to figure out it was Doomed. heee.) We kinda kept watching as we couldn't remember the ending... There doesn't happen a lot, btw. Except... Riley is LILAC! *bwahaha*

but then we were a bit distracted by Spike's pants (I know! that's not that uncommon...)
but seriously. Did you all remember these jeans??
Do you know how many fics I've read where Spike gets rid of his shirt and his pants are so obscenely low hanging that you can basically see his pubic hair? Let me tell you, there were a lot of these...
And now I ask you: How? In these jeans? so not possible!

...because I'm pretty sure there are muscles on my body right now that no human should normally have. And. they. are. all. hurting.

and whoever said Yoga was good for your flexibility lied. I had my first Yoga lesson with the best!buddy yesterday (2 hours [in numbers: 120 minutes] of Surya Namaskar] and I can tell you moving is extremely unpleasant today. OUCH!

The teacher was impressed though that absolute!beginner!me got "Die Krähe" (is it "the crow" in English?) right at first try. Yay for my biceps and triceps! heee.

the BtVS season 8, issue 12 thing

the obligatory two cents of mine regarding the "huge" new Buffy thing

First: I've only read what Joss said, I haven't read the comic yet (for the last few issues) as I'm still paralized with not caring very much about season 8, but...

I'm not bothered by Buffy getting it on with a fellow Slayer. It's probably because I've always over-identified with that character and yes, even though I consider myself straight I've had my experiences with a girl. And yes, the shallow reason was curiousity. And it wasn't during my teenage years (as people keep referring to as the experimenting phase), but in my twenties.

I can see Buffy doing it. She had enough chemistry with Faith.
Actually I'm a little disappointed that they didn't go there. Buffy&Faith! That would have had me excited! A random comic character is just not that interesting.
And as for the complaints that I've heard why it wasn't Willow, I can only say, that would have been sooo weird. Willow is her bff, that's like family. And that means it would have been kinda incestuous. And incest squicks me out.
Then I've seen people saying that Buffy is 100% straight as she was flabbergasted when Willow came out to her. Well, I was flabbergasted (and lost 10 points in the cool big'sis department) when my sis came out to me. I was just so surprised, you know? I'm still laughing at my reaction back then. Yet I had my own experiences. Later. See, I'm so Buffy *g*
it actually happens in RL, too.

I don't see this as OOC, what bothers me much more is that my girl doesn't get the opportunity to go shopping and clubbing. Really!
All the other superheroes (see Batman, Superman, Spiderman etc.) have a normal life, too. Just like Buffy had. It keeps them connected to the real world. If you lose that and you get isolated from society, strange things happen. Like acting like a super-villain and robbing banks. See? My girl needs a life back. She needs a shopping spree and lots of dancing, maybe even a *gasp* movie and a party *nods wisely*

Torchwood reviews and a Ianto picspam

I left work early, drank liters of tea and went to bed. I slept, woke up, drank more tea, slept again.
I guess I'm kinda sick. hmmm, maybe that's why I feel horrible...

but I'm all up to date with Torchwood, yay!

Everything Changes:
I liked the pilot - a lot.
YAY for killing of team members in the first episode! (I'm not kidding here *g* it reminded me of BtVS and Jesse)
I'm also a tiny bit in love with Coweye (aka Gwen), she's hot and even though they stretch her "humanity" aspect a tiny bit, I really like her. She's also too curious for her own good. Bonus points!
No question about my love for Jack. heeee.
And I also love the stupid faces of Owen. His drooping corners of the mouth never fail to amuse me.

Day One:
I think, I love Coweye. And she snogged a girl! Also YAY for random sex scenes. heeee. a show after my liking.

Ghost Machine:
Owen starts to annoy me. But I like the twists of the story and the interweavings so I enjoyed the episode.

Cyberwoman:
I have a weekness for the Cyberman, so I was mild and forgave this story a lot for all the plot loopholes. Poor Ianto baby, what did they do to him in this episode? he hasn't even had a character yet and it seemed out of character already.
Also? I freaked a little when Gwen and Owen snogged, little did I know that this was only the beginning of my suffering...

Small Worlds:
I'm not a fairy fan. But I did like the evilness of the fairies and I LOVED that Jack let the little girl go. ♥
My love for twisted characters is kinda creepy. heeeee.

Countrycide:
Ianto with a hoodie!
and the episode was scary! from the beginning to the very end. me = likey!
but oh Gwen! Owen? Seriously? If you have to cheat on Rhys, why the hell OWEN???

Greeks Bearing Gifts:
Bonus points for the femslash. I don't really care about Tosh. I like her fine, but tend to find her a bit boring. That's pretty much also my reaction to the whole episode.

They Keep Killing Suzie:
They brought back Suzie! Weeee! and they kept killing her. I love Jack for killing her with a gazillion of bullets.

Random Shoes:
This episode was so random! I have so many issues with this episode!
and yet, I somehow loved it. the plot was so stupid. the ending was melodramatic and sappy. there was too little Torchwood in this episode. and yet? I enjoyed this episode. and I don't even know why! heeeee! it was so geeky!

Out of Time:
i was bored out of my mind.

Combat:
Two episodes in a row that bored me, they almost lost me there... I got so distracted while watching this episode, that I don't even remember everything what happened here. except for Owen? oh yeah, he's annoying.

Captain Jack Harkness:
awww, the dancing scene was so cute as well as the kiss. I was smiling all the time. yeah yeah, I know he died the next day and I'm probably supposed to be all sad... I fail at deep emotions, I still think it was cute. ha!

End of Days:
It was ok. no more, no less. I tend to forget about these kind of episodes very fast, even though the monster amused me to no end. It looked like one of MotW of BtVS. heeee.

I'm enjoying Season 2 much more than season one. There's humour!! ♥
(and not of the unvoluntary kind this time... *whistles*)
ah, I'm so easy, mix a little humour and absurdity into angst and sci-fi and you'll have my undying fanlove.
and as I love it much more I'm writing about it much less now. yes, I know my sense of logic is awesome.

I'm also falling for Ianto. While he bored me throughout the first half of S1, I'm constantly thinking he's the OMG, CUTEST THING EVAH!!!11! now.
I'm not sure yet if I wanna give him a hug or ravish him though. he's just so CUTE, you know?

men are worse than their reputation

I was dressed up as Buffy for the carnival costume party this weekend. Season fourish with red leather pants (thank god for ebay!), black tank top and a blond wig which I got my hairstylist to cut in Buffy-fashion (heee!)

I've rarely made a more creepy sociological experiment. I was hit on every other second. Guys who haven't talked to me in decades (no kidding!) suddenly wanted to buy me drinks. I couldn't walk even two meters without some guy trying to make a pass at me.
seriously, it was scary!
the lil sis decided at some point to never leave my side as the guys bought her drinks, too, when she was with me.

I'm rather shocked how predictable men really are. It's been funny, in a very sad kind of way.
Inconceivable!

I'm pretty sure if the wig and the leather pants would have walked around alone at the party they would have been hit on just as much. Seriously!

random life update

1. I'm getting my braces out today, and I'm so damn NERVOUS! OMG!
(last time when my dentist removed two brackets to reglue them in a different position it hurt. a lot.)

2. convo at work:

me (looking into the room): Yes?
conversations with him are always fun, you just have to ignore that the only thing you'll ever see in this room is porn on every damn screen, that's why we always close his door. heeee.
co-worker (forcefully cheerful): You have a free wish, you can name the next movie whatever you like.
me (grinning): You're running out of title ideas again? Already?
co-worker: I've been using Part II, III and IV way too often lately.
me: sorry, but ever since "Die Masturbienchen" (that's like "The little Masturbees" *g*) I retired.

3. instead I had to work on the new kids'toys commercial. I hate that. I only have to "Europeanize" an American commercial, i.e. shorten it, re-edit it, add new packshots, logos, claim and graphics. The worst thing is that it has to be shortened to the half of its original length... and the storytelling has to be more for the market here.
They always send me a script and they always have a million of change requests afterwards. But lately I found the solution! ha! I see the script, and then I ignore it. And hey, wonderouswise, I get the approval in record time lately, and as it's going on air in like two weeks, this is much less stressful. heee.

4. I'm up to 1x11 of Torchwood. weee.

ETA: They're off. Hurt much less than last time, but I got a retainer on the inside and now I have a thlight lifp. It'th not cute!

1. apparently sometimes I'm failing at the fangirl thing, because while I appreciate the pretty boys aspect of THE torchwood photos that came up (you know the ones I'm talking about, or if you don't, you have no JM fan on your flist, heee.) they leave me utterly cold. no squee at all. I feel like an outsider *g*
but I promised myself a long time ago that I'd never ever apologize for things that make me hot, or not. and this is a not case, I'm afraid. as much as I try, slash doesn't do anything for me *shrug* heee, here on LJ I must be seen as the biggest weirdo.
at least I touched the low quality and hideous colors up a bit ;)

I went to the Stan Douglas exhibition "Past Imperfect" in our National Gallery here yesterday with the best!buddy, and while I like Douglas' ideas and concepts it was way too much for one day and I felt jaded. I think half of the video installations would have been enough (there were 14!!). also? I now have the urge to reply to every question with Elsa's standard reply in Suspiria: "none of your business, shrimp!"

that said, I'm off to watch Torchwood, because I wanna have caught up before the new season begins. heee.

mine were crazy busy like always, but I just had to share this prezzie with you. It was my Family Secret Santa one this year.
a word about my family: we're too many to give everyone a present (about 20 people on my mother's side and just as many on my father's side, we celebrate on different days with them to make it work, heee.)
so we're doing the family Secret Santa thing. (Parents and siblings get something extra, that's the third family cometogether on these days then...)

the lil sis got my name though (she turns 18 tomorrow!!) and she made me this (handiwork!!)
