Lack Of Biblical Literacy Is The Greatest Crisis In The Global Church.
Without a deep understanding of Scripture, believers struggle to comprehend core doctrines and principles, leading to a shaky and superficial faith that is easily swayed by cultural trends and false teachings. A lack of biblical literacy leads to moral confusion, ethical compromises, and a diminished witness of the Church in society.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Our mission
At AWKNG, our mission is to awaken the Body of Christ to a deeper understanding of the Bible.
We exist to make doctoral-level biblical scholarship freely accessible to anyone, anywhere, empowering believers to engage Scripture with clarity, depth, and confidence.
Through a growing library of free resources, AWKNG offers:
- Online reading plans that guide users through entire books of the Bible, with accompanying Scripture passages, cultural insights, and historical context.
- Self-paced online courses, taught by PhDs and trusted theologians, that explore Scripture through its original ancient Near Eastern and supernatural worldview.
- The Ask a Scholar podcast, where scholars address your real questions about the Bible, theology, and the Christian life—always pointing listeners back to the authority of Scripture.
Founded in early 2020 by Dr. Michael S. Heiser, AWKNG was built on his lifelong vision to reintroduce the Bible on its own terms, through the lens of its ancient context and divine worldview. Though Dr. Heiser passed away in 2023, his legacy lives on through the work of our staff, board, and instructors, as we continue to carry forward the mission he entrusted to us.
