Avengers-Land is back!

Mission 11 will take place from October 1^st – December 17^th 2016. We’ll be using Team Magic and Team Science for this mission so please apply for a team using the form provided. Copy it into a comment then fill in the answers for me.

Teams will be allocated on a first come first served basis so I can keep numbers fair – both teams will be fabulous anyway! Applications will be accepted up until November 30^th so even if you’re finding us later in the mission, feel free to join in.

Hey everyone! The mission is about to kick off so there'll be some mission headlines/rules going up soon and a challenge or two. For now, please check you are on the spreadsheet.

Apply to a team for Mission 10

avland’s next (and last for a while) mission will take place between June 1^st – August 31^st 2015. Whether you’ve played with us before or never taken part, come and join us as we celebrate reaching a landmark 10^th mission and say goodbye for a while.

We’re returning to our original three teams for Mission 10: Hero, Sidekick and Villain.

To take part, check you've read the faq/rules so you know what to expect from the comm and then please fill out the application form below by copy and pasting it into a comment. (You can join the mission at any time, so if you’re late finding us don’t worry!)

I will do my best to put you on your first choice team, but it isn’t always possible as I need to keep numbers even.

Can you see this post? If not, that's because you're not currently a member of avland. That could be for one of three reasons:

1) You've never been a member or are a past member who is still watching.
2) You were a member but didn't remember to tell me you wanted to stay on.
3) I've cut you accidentally even though you told me you wanted to stay on.

Whichever of the three people you are, if you'd like to join us at avland for Mission 8, beginning on September 13th, please go and apply for a team. We'll be happy to have you!

Hello and welcome to avland! Sign-ups for Mission Nine are open, the mission will begin on February 2nd and last until May 8th, but feel free to apply at any point during the mission.

To apply for a team, check you've read the faq/rules so you know what to expect from the comm and then fill in the form below by copy and pasting it into a comment. I should be able to let you know within 24 hours of your application which team you have a place on. I always try to give people their first choice but due to numbers it isn’t always possible. I'll try my best, though!

For Mission Nine, avland has two teams: Team Magic and Team Science.

Welcome to avland! A challenge community for the Avengers MCU movies and related shows. Under the cut is some information about land comms and how things work around here - feel free to ask any questions if there's anything I haven't covered!

What is a land-comm?

A land comm is an interactive challenge community in which players are divided into teams and compete for points. Challenges can be anything from luck to graphics to writing to puzzles to logic-based challenges. At the end of the Mission the team with the most points wins (and gets a pretty shiny and the satisfaction of winning as a result *g*).

What aspects of the Avengers fandom are included here?

This landcomm centres around the Avengers Marvel Cinematic Universe – so this includes The Avengers, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy and all related sequels. We also allow entries using Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Agent Carter,etc. , although we operate a spoiler policy lasting three weeks for new episodes airing. Submissions based around the Bana and Norton films are also fine. For a full list of what we allow please see this post.

So how do I play?

Apply to join a team *g* As long as you’re not a bot your request will be approved and we will assign you a team and send out your invites. Once you have your team you can start to participate in challenges which will have rules in the challenge post. You can also get involved in the social community helicarrier where there will be a number of social posts to allow you to interact with members from all teams.

What do I do if I have questions?

Each challenge post will have a thread for questions, and there is also the page-a-mod post, where you can take general community questions and queries. You can also ask your team captains or PM me, theron09 - I'm the comm runner and I'm always happy to help!

How often do I need to participate?

We ask that you participate at least once every three weeks minimum (we’d love it if you can participate as much as you can but we understand real life can sometimes get in the way of fun fandom stuff!) We’re also happy to try and help out during busy periods so if you need to go on a hiatus then please let us know at the Page-A-Mod post where comments are screened.

Other things to note:

The main rule of this land comm is just to have fun! Hopefully it’s a safe place to try new things and make friends *g* Please don’t bash other players or actors etc!

If you wish to change teams please PM theron09 and we’ll see what I can do (no guarantees). Please note that any points you have earned prior to this will stay with the team you were on.
