I'm still here
So, what's going on?
News
It didn’t take long before I started neglecting this space. I knew it would happen, it always happens with me. But, even though I’ve practically become non-existent on social media and haven’t been putting out newsletters, I’ve been working. I suppose I’ll start this off with what is coming first.
Last year, my buddy Joe Ortlieb invited me to collaborate with him on an idea. I don’t remember the initial genesis of it, whether we were talking about the movie The Belko Experiment first, or it came up after, but somehow the idea was formed to write a book like The Belko Experiment, or Battle Royale, but set in a manufacturing plant. It made sense to us, we both know that world all too well. And so, we started work on Bleeding for the Job. Admittedly, I probably caused this project to move slower than it should have. But, it’s done now. That is all that matters.
Synopsis -
Just how much do you mean to the company you work for? Izzy and Sid are going to find out the hard way. When brothers Sterling and John are in fear of losing their company, they make a once in a lifetime deal to save it. Their employees be damned. From the minds of Matthew Vaughn and Joe Ortlieb comes a brutal tale of a ten hour shift from hell.
This book is on course to be released this month. I don’t have an exact date, it’s currently being formatted and the final touches are being applied to the cover.
Current Projects
Bleeding for the Job is the only thing I have ready to be released now. But, like I said above, I’ve been busy writing new stories. So, here is some things I’m doing.
New God Kill Machine - This book is complete and I am slowly editing it. This is long compared to what I normally write, like twice the length of Bowery. I’m taking my time with it to hopefully make it a really great read. It’s a story involving a Goatman in the woods of Kentucky, and a brother who is on the haunt for his missing sister.
Roller Skates - This book is also finished and I am editing it. This is another long one, though maybe a little shorter than the Goatman book. This is about a man, Seth, who falls in love with a starts an inappropriate relationship with his daughter’s friend. Seth goes to extreme lengths to maintain their relationship. This one is more transgressive fiction and not really Splatterpunk or Extreme Horror.
Down into the Pits of Hell - This one is not quite finished yet, but again, strays into longer territory than I’m known for. This one is very extreme, which if you read the excerpt in House Call, then you already know. If you haven’t seen it yet, here is a drawing I did for one of the characters in the book, The Gimp.
Lastly, I have two more works in progress. I won’t talk about them here just yet, but I’m having a blast writing them. If all works out well, I’ll have a nice bunch of releases throughout the second half of this year.
Books and Movies
I remember watching the Leonard Dicaprio movie way back when it came out, and I liked it. But I don’t remember anything about it. I picked the book up after seeing some people online saying how good it was. It had been setting on my shelf for a couple years now and I finally cracked it open recently. I was blown away by this book! This is written like it’s being told to us by the main character Richard, recalling his time leading up to and while on the beach. The writing is superb, the characters are interesting and real, I read this in just a few days.
Having not watched this sequel but always wanting to because I liked the first one so much, we gave it a watch with our oldest girls. This movie had a lot of flaws. There was just a lot of it that didn’t make sense, and was the epidemy of characters making the dumbest decisions. That being said, I found this highly entertaining, as did the rest of the family. We had a blast watching it, and none of us were bored the entire time!
As always, if you live in the US and are interested in signed books, check out my store. Each order comes with a hand drawn bookmark!
