More than 135 years back, few leading businessmen of Timber trade set up an association namely Katpitia Mahajan at Kalapur Laat (Grain Market). Formerly the timber market was set up at what today is Kalupur grain market and is owned by Katpatia Mahajan. With changing times and space constraints the market was shifted to Sarangpur - Astodia road and eventually the shops at Kalupur were rented out to generate revenue. A philanthropic trust was set up in the name of "Katpatia Charitable Trust" and the income generated was used for good causes and to help needy people.
