Berlin-based artist Chiharu Shiota presented a work 'Further memories' in Teshima, in 2010. This work has been well-received both local and visitors and stayed for 10 years, but due to the condition the artwork had to be removed, led to the expectation that she would create a new work. Tsuyoshi Tane was selected as the architect for the new collaboration, which shares the common sense of 'memory' in their work.
Collaboration between artists and architects is initiated and various ideas and concepts begin to emerge. Those thought processes and project concepts, including concept models, videos and objects, were exhibited at the Setouchi International Art Festival Triennale 2019, along with Shiota's previous works. The Teshima project is a collaboration in progress towards completion.
