Rare Characters 2014: Author Letter
Hello, dear author, and let me tell you right now that I'm super excited to see what you write for me! (And thank you so much in advance for whatever you end up writing *throws happy glitter at you* .★・。・。☆)
The Silmarillion: Nerdanel, Aredhel, Elenwë, Anairë, Indis, Eärwen, Niënor Níniel, Andreth, Nellas, Rían of the House of Bëor, Elwing, Findis, Haleth, Elemmírë, Írimë
I'll be honest, I have a deep weakness for Aredhel/Elenwë – especially in AUs where Elenwë survives and possibly co-queen scenarios happen. Niënor and Nellas (friendship or femslash) is also one of my favorite things. Aredhel and Anairë doing some mother-daughter bonding in Valinor (possibly even after Aredhel is reembodied?), something exploring Andreth and her history, Rían and her relationship with Morwen (alternatively: AU where Rían doesn't die), what was Lalwen doing in Middle-earth because you know she was doing something, Lalwen and Findis sister-fic – I'm just throwing out things that first come to mind, but you probably get the point :D (Valinor ladies rebuilding after the Darkening? Findis/lady Elemmírë? Elwing in Valinor and the ladies she meets there – she is distantly related to Eärwen through Lúthien, what does that meeting look like? So many possibilities.) Bonus for worldbuilding and political shenanigans, too.

What is Rose Cotton doing during the occupation of the Shire? What about happy fluffy hobbit family-fic with Rose and Elanor? Also I just recently figured out that Elanor possibly has a daughter, which makes me want a three-generations-of-awesome-hobbit-ladi
The Hobbit: Tauriel, Galadriel, Belladonna Took, Sigrid (Hobbit Movies), Tilda (Hobbit Movies), Glóin's Wife, Bard of Laketown's Canonical Wife
Sigrid and Tilda sister-fic, with their life in Laketown together? Also their mother – what if we pretended she wasn't dead, for the sake of the argument? (Maybe their separation was so painful that Bard prefers to tell people she's dead. Idk, there's just very little reason to assume she's dead just 'cause he said so, and that'd be an interesting scenario to play with.) Galadriel kicking evil butts in Dol Guldur would be a great fic – basically White Council stuff with her and her being epic during the events of the Hobbit. I know I didn't list her, but what about Thranduil's wife? She must have existed, unless some heretofore unexplained process created Legolas from thin air XD So. Who is she? Why isn't she around during the events of the book/movie? What about a fic involving her and Tauriel exploring Middle-earth happily together after the BoFA (shhhh no they're both alive okay). Or a Tauriel backstory exploration, involving her rise to captain of the guard. So many bonus points for femslash. How about Belladonna's Tookish adventures prior to her "settling down"? (Did she really settle down, or was there adventuring going on behind the scenes?) Or a fic with Glóin's wife and Dís and any other dwarf ladies you can think of being epic together.
Getting my general dislikes out of the way: rape/non-con, sibling/parental incest, sexual abuse as a plot device, superficial romance/smut without any focus on the characters themselves, character bashing.
Likes: mostly femslash and female characters! (Which you might have noticed by the characters I picked ^^;). I love AUs of any sort – canon divergence, what-if scenarios, alternate place/time. Female friendship is wonderful. Basically anything at all, honestly.
If for some reason you don't feel like writing any of the prompts I've suggested below, feel free to totally ignore them – I'm just throwing out ideas, and there's basically nothing you could write with these characters that I wouldn't like. Additionally, if there was another female character in any of these fandom tag sets that you really want to write about and I didn't include, go ahead ^^ (Basically any female character would be great, which is why I've listed so many – not to overwhelm you or anything, but to give you the freedom you need to write something wonderful!)
