Asteroids

Asteroids is a video game originally released in 1979 by Atari. It is one of the most popular and important games of the Age of Arcade Games.

It used vector two-dimensional graphics; this version was developed in Flash. The player controls a spaceship in an asteroid field which is periodically attacked by flying saucers. The goal of the game is to shoot and destroy asteroids and saucers avoiding collisions with either, or being hit by the saucers.

Each stage starts with a few asteroids drifting in random directions on the screen. The asteroids cannot be destroyed by one shot; if hit they will break into smaller and smaller pieces until they finally disappear. If the ship is hit by the asteroids or the fragments, the ship will be destroyed and the game will end. Occasionally there will be saucers approaching and they will shoot at you - destroy them and get extra bonuses like new lives.
