Weekly update (3/29/2026)
Imprecise probability, symplectic group and other community contributions.
This week wasn’t very eventful.
Chat on imprecise probabilities. This week I had a chat with Alessio Benavoli, who works on imprecise probabilities in various contexts, including physical theories. I am going through some of that literature to see what can be used in our program.
Progress on symplectic group and uncertainty. I had another meeting with Najim Sahli, the French student who is helping me map the action of the symplectic group on the covariance matrix. Things seem to be shaping well, so that we will have a consistent mathematical, geometric, physical and statistical picture. I’d expect that in three months we should be able to wrap it up.
Community contributions. I have integrated the fix to a proof contributed by Demitri Lawrence, an undergrad student here at UMich. I have also integrated figures provided by Aleksi Winstén to our first technical brief.
The rest of the week was kind of a blur…
