The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will hold a public hearing to discuss the results of the LA 70 Detour Route Environmental Assessment (EA). Detailed information relative to the project is available to those interested through copies of the EA. This information is available for review and/or copying at the DOTD’s District Office (8100 Airline Highway, Baton Rouge). Copies of this data will be made available upon request at the expense of the person requesting this information, and at a cost equal to the DOTD’s cost of reproduction. The EA is available, for review only, at the FHWA Division Office (5304 Flanders Drive, Suite A, Baton Rouge) and at the DOTD Environmental Section Office (1201 Capitol Access Road, 5th Floor, Baton Rouge). The EA is also available for review through January 2, 2015, at the Assumption Parish Library Napoleonville Branch (293 Napoleon Avenue, Napoleonville) and at the Pierre Part Branch (2800 LA 70, Pierre Part). You may also download the EA from the DOTD Environmental Section’s website. All interested parties are invited to review the EA and are encouraged to attend this public hearing, scheduled for the following date, time, and location:

12:30 p.m. Mandatory Evacuation East of Grand Bayou reduced to Voluntary Evacuation
The Area to the east of Grand Bayou along Highway 70 that was part of the Mandatory Evacuation Order from the Bayou Corne Sinkhole has been re-designated to a Voluntary Evacuation Area.
The area is believed to be depleted of gas and continued investigation will confirm that the gas is depleted from this area before Evacuation is removed from this area.

Crosstex has advised us that they will take their facility down in order to make the tie ins for their new above ground piping and pump. This activity will consist of flaring the meter and old piping. Crosstex personnel and contract crews will be on site throughout this operation.
10:55 a.m. Command Posts Move to New Location
The Assumption Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness and Homeland Security along with the Sheriff’s Office’s Mobile Command Posts have moved from Sportsman’s Landing in Bayou Corne. They are now located at 1424 Highway 70 South.
