I've been trying to get an HP Omnibook X 14" 2-in-1 to work with Kubuntu 25.04 for a while now. While I've found great success, I've recently run into an issue where the touchscreen stops responding after using the stylus.

The only error that shows up in the system journal is the following, which shows up whenever the stylus is used:

i2c_hid_acpi i2c-ELAN2514:00: i2c_hid_get_input: incomplete report (67/5631)

A few things of note:

  • This only occurs when the input from the stylus is used, such as by Xournal++ or Konsole, but not when libinput debug-gui is observing input.
  • When using libinput debug-events, the touchscreen appears to respond normally.
  • When using libinput debug-gui, the blue rectangle representing the screen tracks input properly. However, the red dot representing the cursor itself does not move when the issue is presenting.
  • The stylus continues to work.
  • The touchscreen works again after logout, including sleep.
  • Sometimes this temporarily resolves itself.

Specs:

  • Kubuntu 25.04
  • KDE 6.3.4
  • Kernel: 6.14.0-28-generic
  • HP Omnibook x 14"

I'm happy to share log files, given you tell me where to look.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.
