He doesn't want to see the devastation he thinks he's caused.

At one point though, he makes it outside where he stands, watching anybody who walks by with an unmeasurable amount of fear, somehow expecting everyone who pasts to drop dead.
[ action; for 503 Ricardo Street ]
[ Upon waking, Peter goes into quiet panic mode, staring at the person next to him and shoving himself out of bed about as fast as he can possibly manage. He's out of the bedroom and wandering around his house mere seconds later, eyes wide obviously in some form of shock.

This isn't New York. This isn't him.

But then who is it? There are pictures of him on the wall. It looks like he lives here, it looks like he's married, like he has kids, like he's done all these things. But he hasn't. Maybe he'd be more quick to sneak out of here if it just looked like he had been kidnapped, but this was something different. It was all wrong. He didn't even want to touch anything, lest it become even more real. As long as he didn't run into any of his so called family members, maybe it'd be okay. ]

[ open action; Ricardo Street ]
[ Stepping out the front door, he makes his way at least all the way to the end of Ricardo street, not looking any less confused as he goes. Nearly oblivious to everything around him, he's staring at the passing houses, and then ducking his face to the sidewalk. Being outside the house was supposed to make it better, but he only felt worse. What was with these houses, why did everything look so perfect?

Awkwardly avoiding contact as he walks by someone, he glanced at one more house, looking pointedly miserable. Peter was hideous at keeping his heart from being on his sleeve, and he tugged at his collared shirt, feeling completely out of place. ]

[ phone; later ]
[ Even though he's connected, there's an incredibly long pause. Peter's unsure about using a phone to connect to a city en masse, but it's about the only option he's got left. ]

Can anyone- [ another pause. ] Can anyone hear me?

I'm not supposed to be here. I'm from New York, I'm not even- Someone's gotta know what's going on around here. I need to get back home. Is there someone, anyone I can talk to about it?

Anyone I can talk to about how I got here in the first place?

018 || rl; you're not as brave as you were at the start
Peter had told himself a number of times to get up and change his shirt, that sitting in clothes partially soaked in his own blood wasn't actually a good use of his time. But they were the clothes from Nathan's funeral, save for his suit jacket which he'd left at the scene of the crime, handed over to the woman who'd been taken to the hospital with a mostly healed bullet wound. Peter hadn't stayed for that part of it, slipping out the same way he'd came in. But it required far too much energy to care about something as simple as his clothing, energy he'd much rather spend on a hunt that still wouldn't bring his brother back.

As soon as he'd backed away from his laptop, he'd turned the police scanner up once again and just listened, forcing his mind to fog over. Absently, he noted that his hands were still stained red, and yet he couldn't convince himself to get up and clean up, to take a few steps away from the scanner that had ruled his life over the past few months. He was hardly listening at this point, numb to the constant chatter of missing cars and fist fights over too many glasses of beer.

He was supposed to be coping, wasn't he? That's what people did after funerals, they learned how to start coping. He'd helped other people do it before; try to remember the good things, the memories, the parts of death that connected people. But all Peter could think about doing was getting revenge, justice, making up for every single one of his failures. He'd spent the day at a funeral with his empathy turned up to full blast and wallowed in false sympathies from people who couldn't begin to understand. And now he felt sick to his stomach, overwrought with emotions that didn't even belong to him, tangled up in how much no one else cared. But how could they when they didn't know.

Jaw clenched tight, Peter bit back the astringency of grief, refusing to let himself feel anything past all the guilt, past the inherent need to keep moving before he realizes that Nathan was gone for good. When he started to feel anything more, he tuned back in to the scanner, which had begun to rattle off information about another potential break in. Just as he'd started to pay attention to it, there was a knock on the door and it occurred to Peter just how wrong everything had become, how small he felt, before he finally stood to get the door.

[ Much to Peter's utmost chagrin, his least favourite part of the day had arrived and he was forced to return to his apartment, the place he really couldn't even call a home anymore. It wasn't; he'd taken away every part of it that could be called even remotely comforting and turned his walls into the constant reminder of the guilt that was consuming him. He'd been told more than enough times lately to stop trying to spend the night in the break room, that his life couldn't become his job, that he needed to stop glory hounding. As if any of those things were going to happen any time soon.

Tossing his keys on the counter and toeing out of his shoes, he was beyond exhausted and yet still hyped up on too much adrenaline and not enough sleep. And even then, Peter hangs back by the door for a few moments too long, staring into the depths of his empty apartment. It felt cold, sterile at best, and he didn't want to be here. He didn't want the constant reminders of anything that had happened with Adam and if he didn't get to sleep soon, he'd have to deal with the impending thoughts he tried so hard to filter out of his mind.

Instead, he turns to the newspaper he'd brought inside with him and settles himself on the floor with a water bottle. If there was another article about an accident that he'd been on call for, then he was ready to cut it out and add it to the others. But he already knew it would register no emotion, that it would still mean next to nothing in the grand scheme of things. There was no amount of people he could save anymore that would make up for all he'd done wrong. ]

[ It was really a good thing that he'd brought a jacket to that kids house; he hadn't been expecting to be shot at close range by a rifle and walking into a hospital a bloody mess was likely to send off alarms. But even if he hadn't, it wouldn't have stopped him. All of this provided a distraction from the virus and Adam and the Company and everything else Peter wanted to ignore, so in the grand scheme of things, he didn't particularly mind.

And seeing as he was on a mission to save Hiro? Stopping to clean up wasn't on the schedule.

Making his way through the hospital to Hiro's room, Peter keeps his hands balled in his pockets, working on perfecting his nonchalant act, so that by the time he's poking his head into Hiro's room, he's got it down cold. Sort of. ]

Hey, Hiro.

Peter Petrelli?
ALTER EGO: Peter Petrelli; Nurse.

BACKGROUND:

World:
The only major difference to Peter’s canon “world” from the real world is that there are people with abilities. Similar to the idea of mutants, people with abilities are simply people that have genetically evolved to be able to do such things as flying, healing, turning invisible, and inducing radioactivity. Otherwise, Peter Petrelli’s world, or his life, is centralized in New York city, where he was born and raised. It’s a fairly modern day world, starting in the year 2006, and ending in 2007/2008, with nothing too different about it. There’s no magic or dinosaurs, all technology is normal, and it’s exactly like the real world, save for people with abilities.

History & Connections:
In Volume 1, Peter starts off as a hospice nurse, who is only just starting to understand his abilities. Through much of this season, Peter struggles to understand his abilities, himself, and his role when it comes to saving the world. Some of the major canon events that occur in this season are: when Peter learns about his abilities and jumps off a roof, saving the cheerleader (Claire) from Sylar, learning about the explosion and trying to gain control of his abilities with Claude’s help, and eventually exploding in New York.

Claude Rains used to be a former agent of the Company, who in fact used to work with Noah Bennett, Claire’s father. Eventually, he saw the error of the ways in which the Company actually used people with evolved humans, and he rebelled. Noah was ordered to kill Claude, and attempted to do so, but Claude managed to survive. Considering his ability, which was invisibility, he went into hiding. At least, until Peter passed by him on the street, turning invisible himself without knowledge of doing so, making him able to see through Claude’s ability. Peter begs Claude to help him understand his abilities, and eventually agrees.

Isaac Mendez is a man that Peter meets through Simone, the daughter of Charles Deveaux, a man he works for at the very beginning of this volume. Isaac Mendez is Simone’s first love interest, and is able to paint the future, but he believes he’s only able to do it while high. He paints a few notorious images of Peter, one in which he’s flying, and one in which he’s exploding. For a period of time, Isaac was held inside of The Company in an attempt to gain control of his abilities, but eventually left. In an act of jealousy once he finds out that Peter and Simone have been involved, Isaac ends up telling Noah that Peter is dangerous, and that he needs to be stopped at all costs. Noah is able to find Peter and Claude, and Claude ends up being captured and killed. Peter and Isaac then end up getting into an argument which turns violent, and Simone is killed.

One of the first people that Peter learns he has to save is Claire, aka the cheerleader. This gives him his first drive towards saving the world, which is in essence his drive throughout his entire life. This is an incredibly important event in Peter’s life, both because he’s able to save Claire, and because he’s able to meet her. Peter and Claire’s relationship is one that’s incredibly important to him, and continues to grow stronger as the series continues. Claire is eventually found out to be the illegitimate daughter of Nathan Petrelli and Meredith Gordon, a woman whose ability is to create and control fire. Noah was ordered to take care of her in an attempt to keep her from discovering her own abilities as well as simply keeping her safe.

Matt Parkman is another character that Peter meets early on in the volume. He’s a police officer who is one of the first on the scene of the crime after Sylar attempts to kill Claire. He takes Peter into custody, believing that he was the one who tried to kill her. Matt has the ability to read minds, and eventually the ability to coerce people through their thoughts, trap them in their own minds, create “dream-like” states of consciousness to trap people into, and to enter other peoples minds. Matt tries to read Peter’s mind, and once Peter gains this ability, they negate each other. Matt eventually realizes that Peter is innocent and their friendship is continuously forged throughout the seasons.

Hiro is another character that Peter meets. Firstly, he meets Hiro’s future self, who is the one that tells him to save the cheerleader to save the world. Eventually, Peter meets present day Hiro and his best friend Ando. Hiro has the ability to teleport, and to “bend the fabric of space and time.” Peter looks for Hiro in an attempt to find out who Claire is, hoping to get more information, and they form a friendship that extends throughout the entire series. Hiro himself spends much of the series on a constant quest to save the woman he fell in love with, continuously hopping through time and creating alternate realities in an attempt to keep her alive.

Lastly, Peter encounters Sylar in this volume. Sylar, previously known as Gabriel Gray, is the first person to “kill” Peter sometime after he tries to kill Claire. This is when it’s discovered that anyone who’s capable of rapid cell regeneration has an “off switch” at the top of the spinal cord, and if something is inserted into this spot, the person is rendered dead until it’s removed. Throughout volume one, Sylar is Peter’s main adversary, and for a short period of time, Peter believes that it’s actually Sylar who explodes, not him. But Peter is indeed the person who gains induced radioactivity and cannot control it, however Sylar does want to be the person to explode, and they engage in a fight at the end of this volume.

In volume 2, the major events that occur to Peter are that he allows himself to be put inside of Primatech, he meets Adam, and he and Adam escape from Primatech to “destroy a virus” and to save Nathan since he was badly burnt by the explosion. However, Peter and Adam are split up for a period of time, and Peter has his memory erased and is sent to Ireland. Relearning about his abilities in Ireland, Adam eventually finds him, and they continue on their quest to destroy the virus, even though Adam wants to release it and bring about mass genocide onto the world.

Primatech is both a fake business, called Primatech Paper Company, which is a front for something called The Company. It’s specific purpose is for locating and tracking specials, or people with abilities. However, the Company performs experiments on people with abilities, attempting to find out just what people can do by pushing them to dangerous and sometimes painfully violent limits.

Peter’s connections to the company start with the fact that his parents were part of the 12 founders. At the same time, Adam was also one of the founders, and a man that Peter meets while being held inside Primatech itself. Adam is a man with the ability of rapid cell regeneration, and has survived for 400 years, which means that rapid cell regeneration also deems you immortal. He was put inside Primatech as a means of keeping the world safe because of his attempts to destroy it using the virus. When Hiro teleports to the past, he finds Adam in Japan and tells him that he’s meant to be a hero by the name of Takezo Kensei, but he accidentally falls in love with the same woman he tells Adam he’s meant to fall in love with. Adam claims that if it wasn’t for Hiro, he would have never become a villian.

The twelve founders of The Company, along with Arthur, Angela, and Adam were: Charles Deveaux, Kaito Nakamura, Maury Parkman, Victoria Pratt, Susan Amman, Robert Bishop, Harry Fletcher, Paula Gramble, Daniel Linderman, and Carlos Mendez. Carlos Mendez is never outright connected to Isaac Mendez, but it’s a theory that he is indeed his father. Daniel Linderman went on to become the chairman of the Company, and has the ability to heal. Linderman had hoped that Peter would explode and cleanse the world, wanting to start off fresh so he could create a better, stronger population. Paula Gramble, Harry Fletcher, and Susan Amman are characters that are never discussed. Maury Parkman turns out to be Matt Parkman’s father, and Kaito Nakamura is Hiro’s father. Victoria Pratt was a biological engineer, who ended up discovering the Shanti virus. She’s ordered by The Company to turn the virus into a weapon and manages to create Strain 128. Once she realizes what she’s done and discovers that Adam is trying to release it, she helps put Adam inside of Primatech to keep the world safe. After this, she goes into hiding and leaves the Company for good.

The virus itself is continuously mentioned during the series, as there are a number of strains of it. Strain 138 is the one that Adam wants to release, and if inflicted upon the world, would kill 93% of the population. Another strain of the virus, The Shanti Virus (also known as the original strain), is capable of preventing evolved humans from using their abilities along with causing a life threatening disease that effects the nervous system. A third strain of the virus, an unmade strain, is used by the Company itself to keep evolved humans from using their abilities.

The reason the virus is called The Shanti virus, is because Shanti Suresh was the first known victim. Shanti is the deceased older sister of Mohinder Suresh, who are both children of a man by the name of Chandra. Chandra wrote a book about people with abilities and genetic evolution after doing a vast amount of research, which Peter found and read when he was trying to understand his own abilities. Peter tried to find Chandra and found Mohinder instead, a man trying to continue his father’s investigative work, and they forged a strained relationship ever since.

Interestingly enough, Mohinder has, in his blood, antibodies that can destroy the original strain of the virus. If he is to mix it with Claire’s blood, which has regenerative abilities, the antibodies only become stronger. It can than affect other mutated strains of the virus in people who have received it. In essence, Mohinder’s blood is the only cure for the virus itself. A side fact, which is important to note, is that Claire’s blood, as well as Adam’s, can be used to heal the person it was injected into, in the same manor as Claire and Adam are able to “heal”. Though it’s only able to heal them for a short period of time, it is used a number of different times to save other characters such as Nathan.

In volume 3, an incredibly large number of things happen to Peter, all of which effect him greatly. For a period of time, his future self puts him in someone else’s body, after which he’s transported to the future and gains Sylar’s ability, as well as finding out that he has to keep another potential future from occurring. Peter returns to the present where another pivotal event occurs: he finds out that his father is still alive, and Arthur (his father) takes his ability. Sylar’s able to stop Arthur by killing him, and eventually Peter injects himself with a new ability and helps to destroy Pinehearst.

Pinehearst is another company, a biotechnology based one that had interests in evolved humans. Arthur and Nathan were the known leaders of the company. Pinehearst was where Arthur Petrelli worked from, his headquarters of operations. Its purpose was to “rebuild the future” and to hopefully give everyone on Earth, abilities. In a potential future that Peter visits with his future self, Peter’s told that he has to stop this future from occurring, not every person in the world is meant to have an ability. This is exactly why Peter works to stop Pinehearst, his father, and his brother from doing so.

Pinehearst uses a genetic modification formula, also used by the company. It’s capable of giving synthetic abilities to anyone injected with it. The formula for the virus itself consisted of three parts: two halves of a document that was held in Kaito Nakamura’s and Angela Petrelli’s possession. The last part was a catalyst, which was found within Hiro Nakamura. The only way the formula could work, was with Hiro. Mohinder was able to create a genetic modification formula on his own, but his creation didn’t have the catalyst and resulted in terrible side-effects, practically turning him into a monster.

The physical formula was able to be destroyed by Peter and Flint, another man held inside of Primatech, and the documents were destroyed by Hiro. The catalyst was eventually destroyed when both Peter and Sylar killed Arthur Petrelli, who was holding the catalyst inside himself at the time.

In volume 4, the main canon event that takes place is the secret government agency that tries to capture and put away people with abilities, an agency that Nathan is involved with. Peter ends up going on the run and working with Matt and Mohinder to try to stop Building 26 from functioning. This only works until both Matt and Mohinder are captured, and Peter ends up on the run by himself, attempting black mail on Nathan and Danko, and eventually finding his way back to his mother, who helps work to bring their family back together.

Building 26 is a sector of the agency of the Department of Homeland security, which was started by Nathan as an organization specifically made to hunt down and imprison people with abilities. It’s a secret agency, also run by Noah Bennett as well as other unnamed people. After capturing people with abilities, it keeps said people under complete sedation, effectively rending them completely unable to use any of their abilities.

Danko was, previously, a senior agent of the Department of Homeland security, who ended up being the leader of the group of soldiers that worked for Building 26 and were used to hunt down evolved humans. He was considered to be a massive threat to all people with abilities, using violence at any cost to bring down people. Peter at one point goes so far as to break into his home and holds him at gun point in an attempt to stop him from continuing his work with Building 26. This doesn’t work and only spurns Danko on more, causing him to eventually part ways with Nathan Petrelli in terms of their opinions, and continue to work with Building 26 on his own terms.

In volume 5, Heroes goes a little off its rocker. The show’s plot begins to degrade, and the entire plot of Sylar being turned into Nathan is shaky at best. However! The two most important parts of this volume in terms of Peter’s life are: Nathan’s death, and “The Wall” aka Peter being stuck inside of Sylar’s head for a period of nearly 8 years.

Nathan’s death effects Peter greatly, especially since at the beginning of the volume, Peter is seen trying his hardest to keep everyone at a distance and immerse himself in his job. Even so, he still always feels as if he has Nathan. So when he finds out that his brother was killed by Sylar, and that his mother tried to cover it up by turning Sylar into Nathan, he’s anything but pleased. He even tries to exact revenge on Sylar, torturing him until he can get his brother back. And even then, Nathan finds it too hard to fight back against Sylar being inside of his body and constantly gaining control and eventually throws himself off a roof.

Secondly, “The Wall”, where Peter is forced to seek Sylar’s help to once again save the world, but accidentally gets himself stuck in Sylar’s mind, is another vastly important part of volume five. Peter needs to get Sylar’s help to once again save hundreds of people’s lives, because he can’t do it himself. Just this fact unto itself is hard enough for Peter to cope with, but he finds out that Matt has tried to hide Sylar away in his house behind a brick wall, and Peter attempts to wake him back up. In doing so, Peter ends up trapped in Sylar’s mind with him, in a completely empty New York save for them. They spend around 8 years together, supposedly, with Peter spending nearly the entire time raging mad at Sylar. Eventually, the only way they break out is when Peter’s able to forgive Sylar and the break through the wall.

One last important note regarding this season, is the carnival, run by a group of people all with abilities. Samuel is the man who is the leader of this group, and hopes to expose people with abilities to the outside world, wanting them to be the people in control. He manages to invade nearly all of the heroes lives, finding his way to Peter, Claire, Sylar, and Hiro, wanting them all to end up on his side. His abilities are made stronger when he surrounds himself with other people with abilities, which is why he runs the carnival itself. He eventually takes the carnival to New York, where he hopes to expose all of them by showing exactly how strong they are and killing hundreds of people. Peter and Sylar work to stop Samuel and manage to save everyone. However, Claire still exposes all of them, by jumping off a ferris wheel.

Important Character Relationships:
Peter & Nathan: One of the most important relationships that Peter has is the one with his brother. Peter is always shown forgiving his brother for some reason or another, and even though Nathan frustrates him immensely, he always turns back to him. He looks to Nathan for a constant connection, for something to tie him back to his own family, and as someone he looks up to. Since Peter’s father was rarely there for him, and Nathan taught him a number of things growing up, it could be believed that Peter almost sees Nathan as more of a father figure than a brother, also influenced by their large difference in ages. Their constant connection can be seen from the first season where Nathan is the first person he talks to about his abilities, to the fourth season where Peter tries to do whatever he can to get his brother back from Sylar’s body. Even though Peter is at near constant odds with his brother, he’s always willing to give Nathan’s fault and admit to the fact that he still loves him.

Peter & Claire: Peter instantly develops a close relationship with Claire upon first meeting. Claire is someone that Peter is always desperate to keep safe, undoubtedly because she’s the first person he sets out to save. Whenever he can, he feels responsible for her safety. But out of everyone in his family, Claire (his niece) seems to be the one person who never outright judges Peter’s actions, betrays him, or uses him for any personal means. They’re incredibly close and rarely seen arguing, and Peter has conversations with her about how he feels, which he barely ever does with anyone else. She’s a confidant to him, and he values their relationship greatly.

Peter & Angela: Peter has a similar relationship with his Mother that he has with his Nathan, and at the same time, Peter’s relationship with his Mother is strained in a different way. Angela tells Peter that they (her and Arthur) gave Peter support, but they never supported him. Peter always feels second best to his brother, and that he could never stand up to his brother’s actions in his parent’s eyes. Also, Angela is a woman who lies to everyone, and is incredibly good at being deceitful, but in her heart she is desperate to protect her family. And on a base level, Peter can relate to this, but the way that she tries to keep people safe generally only irritates Peter. This regularly puts a strain on their relationship, but at the end of the day, Peter still wants to keep his Mother safe.

Peter & Arthur: Peter’s relationship with his father isn’t covered extensively, but it is shown that Peter’s not exactly close to him. Even more so with Arthur than Angela, Peter feels somehow that he can never compare to Nathan, and that his Father felt this even more so, which wasn’t helped by the fact that Arthur was an absent father. When Arthur takes Peter’s abilities and continues on his quest to give everyone abilities, Peter goes so far as to nearly kill him, something he’s never seen doing to any of the other members of his family. It can easily be said that out of everyone in his family, Peter’s father is the one he cares for the least, if at all.

Peter & Sylar: Throughout the course of Heroes, Peter and Sylar’s relationship is one that could be said to change the most. He goes from an intense hatred of Sylar, to one that in the end of the show, could almost be said to be something of a bond between them, even though Sylar killed Nathan. Sylar can almost been seen as the basic constant threat to all of them, and Peter views him as an adversary, ever since he tried to kill Claire. Peter’s feelings towards Sylar almost seem to shift when Sylar save’s Peter’s life, however at the time, he believes them to be brothers. But once again, when Peter finds out that Sylar killed Nathan, the only thing he wants is revenge. Peter struggles to let go of his anger and forgive Sylar so he can go to him for help, but this isn’t even remotely easy for him. While it’s not really shown whether or not Peter believes them to be friends, he does work with him, which puts an incredible strain on Peter’s morals, and how he feels about the loss of his brother.

Peter & Adam: This particular relationship is one that could be said to harm Peter the most. He puts a tremendous amount of trust in Adam, which can be seen by the way he nearly kills Hiro for the other man. The only person who’s able to convince Peter that Adam has been lying to him, is Nathan, which shows who’s opinion he values most. It also expresses that while staying in Primatech, Adam obviously had important discussions with Peter we never saw, that allowed for the other man to completely manipulate Peter into being on his side. Peter’s obviously betrayed in this aspect, and he’s guilt ridden by what he almost does to the world at large.

PERSONALITY:

Peter is, outwardly at least, rather simple when it comes to his personality. He’s fearless, selfless, loyal, and tries to be heroic to an incredibly dangerous fault. Peter’s a dreamer, caring, and sensitive, but he’s also naive, desperate to prove himself, and a pushover. He wants to save people, he wants to be someone special, he wants to make something of himself. But he’s far more complicated than his outward appearances show.

For a long time, Peter sees himself through his families eyes. He sees himself as incapable, unsuccessful, and unimportant, just as his father and his brother viewed him. But all Peter wants is to make something of himself, and has spent a good part of his life dreaming. Right before he jumps off the building in Volume 1, he tells Nathan that it’s his turn to be somebody, and his ability is a manifestation of that. His one chance to fulfill his dream to become the person he wants to be: a person capable of saving others, of being independent and capable, of being a hero.

It could be said that Peter is the black sheep of his family and even so, Peter is loyal to them in terms of trying to keep them safe. Throughout almost the entirety of volume 4, Peter works against his brother Nathan, while still telling him numerous times that he loves him. Similarly, Peter ends up regularly frustrated by his Mother, but still states that he loves her as well, that she’ll always be his mother even though she never gave him the support he needed when he was younger.

Even though Peter feels as if he needs them to be a hero, Peter is seen struggling with his ability through much of the volumes. Struggling to control them, struggling to deal with them, and struggling with the consequences of what it means to be a person with abilities. At times he feels trapped inside his ability, wishing he could use them to help people when at times all it seems that he can do anything but. When he finally does lose his ability for a brief time, he does what he can to see if he can still be a hero without them. Many of Peter’s goals, his dreams, his needs to feel like he’s worth something, rely around his ability to save other people, his family included.

For Peter, Claude is an incredibly important person in his life when it comes to awakening and understanding his ability. Claude tells him that Peter’s constant thinking of other people is hindering his abilities. Peter has to begin to believe in himself to be able to control them. He has to view himself the way he wants to, not the way his family his always chosen to view him. Claude is the first one who gives Peter an, albeit dangerous, shove in the direction of finding out who he truly is, and giving Peter a chance to become his own person. It’s through Claude that Peter learns that to control his ability, he has to remember the people that affected him. Peter is always connected to the people he knows, and always wants to care for them, keep them safe.

At times Peter can be easily manipulated, as witnessed by the second volume, where Adam uses him to find the virus. This is only occurs because of his need to do good. However, after his dealings with Adam, he becomes far stronger with his beliefs and ideals, knowing what he is and isn’t willing to do for other people. Also, Peter’s darker side shows when he’s angry, hurt by other’s actions, and when people he cares for are hurt. Peter can, at times, become easily frustrated, especially when he feels as if he’s been betrayed by someone he cares for. Not to mention, he believes that his opinions are the one and only correct ones, and he tends to stand by his morales, clinging to them and becoming easily offended when he’s told he’s wrong. Most of the time, his anger has to do with his family, but in instances such as when Isaac gives away his and Claude’s location, he becomes furious, pushed to the limit and willing to do things he wouldn’t do usually.

Later in the series, Peter goes so far as to lose most of his connections with family and friends in a fervent attempt to focus on helping people as many he can. After feeling as if he’s an incredibly large destructive force and a danger to others, Peter just wants to focus on helping people. But after remembering that his connections to people are still important, Peter again works to be closer to the people he loves. It’s a key point that Peter will break himself apart to help as many people as he can.

Peter’s personality post-canon is vastly different from it is in season one. In season one, Peter is much more hopeful, optimistic, and is forever the day dreamer. He jumps off a roof simply as an attempt to express that he can be something more. Peter is desperate to be something special, to find a way to mean something, and in general has a much brighter, youthful approach to the world. He’s far more conversational, and interested in the people in his life.

Comparatively, in season four, Peter is much more interested in cutting himself off from the world and focusing wholly on saving people. Especially so, after the death of his brother. Peter has trouble feeling as if he’s capable of saving people, and also uses it as a way to distract himself from actually coping. He feels as if no matter what he’s done, he still hasn’t saved enough people, and Nathan only further proves that point because he wasn’t able to protect his brother. In the last season, while Peter has become far more pessimistic and takes on a darker approach to his own life, he’s still eventually capable of forgiveness and is, at the core, as interested in saving the world as he ever was.

POWER:

Peter’s ability from the canon point he’s going to be taken from is ability replication. This means that he can pick up the ability of whoever he touches, but he can only hold onto one ability at a time. This ability is one that he injected himself with, after his father stole his original ability (empathetic mimicry.)

Specifically, the ability that he has post-canon, is terrakinesis, which is the ability to control and manipulate geological/organic, things like dirt and rocks. This means he’d have the ability to create sinkholes, and in essence move the ground that people walk upon.

However, this is subject to change. All he has to do is touch someone to be able to absorb their abilities. Granted, this should be taken on a case by case basis. Personally, I don’t think that Peter should be able to absorb magical abilities, or something that’s attributed to a different species (vampires having super speed as an example.) But I do think that dealing with this from character to character, is the best way to handle whether or not he’d be able to absorb someone’s ability.

Personally, I don’t think that Peter should be able to absorb magical abilities, or something that’s attributed to a different species (vampires having super speed as an example.) But I do think that dealing with this from character to character, is the best way to handle whether or not he’d be able to absorb someone’s ability.

[CHARACTER SAMPLES]
COMMUNITY POST (FIRST PERSON) SAMPLE:

[ When the video starts, there’s some obvious fumbling with the device, the line of the city’s horizon blurring as the comm moves around. When Peter eventually thinks he’s gotten the thing to work, he looks anything but pleased. Granted, that’s basically his normal expression nowadays, but he’s definitely not interested in even pretending to joke around.

But at least he’s found a come hideaway, a roof of some building over-looking the city as dusk starts to settle in. ]

Weirder things have happened, being stuck in my city without it really being the place I call home. At least there’s people around this time-- [ He cuts himself off, changing the topic almost instantly. ]

This is probably a stupid question -- any chance of getting back? Finding a way home? I’m from New York, but somebody’s living in my apartment building and this place isn’t... it’s not the same. Has anyone done it?

[ He doesn’t even know if he’s in shock, but he’s anything but horrified by the situation at hand, which is obvious by the almost neutral tone his voice has taken on. But his voice does go faintly more quiet before he speaks up again. ]

I don’t know if I can be a hero anymore. [ The feed cuts off before he can say anything more. ]

LOGS POST (THIRD PERSON) SAMPLE:

This wasn’t the first time he’d been stuck somewhere. Granted, this was nothing like Sylar’s mind -- he’d been alone there, save for the other man. Save for the one person he never wanted to forgive.

But here, here he was anything but alone. And in a strange way, he almost wished he was. It had been hard to make connections ever since Nathan’s death. Making connections felt like the last thing he wanted to do. Bring more people into his life, and risk loosing them. Risk getting asked questions about his brother, risk feeling more, and risk having to mourn the death of someone he thought he’d never have to loose.

Except, as always, there was the temptation of being a hero.

Save the cheerleader, save the world. Change the future, save the world. Stop Emma, save the world. Every aspect of his life had become about saving the world and it had begun to feel as if even when he did save the world, he barely saved any lives. And now he was here, and there was no way he could run away.

Taking his dog tags and his communicator, all Peter wanted to do was find somewhere he could stop and think. Which was why he wandered. He could almost pretend this place was home -- it was, in essence. It looked almost exactly like it, some sort of off brand version of New York. And in a way, Peter almost wondered if Nathan would be here. Some alternate world version of Nathan, but still him.

And somehow, he still found his apartment building. But someone else had his apartment and the last place he wanted to go was some other home. And yet, he did. He went to his new place, and he walked right past it and up onto the roof, where he sat on the ledge and stared. None of this felt real, none of it felt right, but here he was. He didn’t know if he was being given another chance, another opportunity to actually be a hero. But even if he was, some part of him didn’t want to do it without Nathan.

[ Peter had snagged the newspaper at the first opportunity after they'd gotten up far past the sunrise, dropping down onto his awful couch with it. Ignoring all the usual pages he turned to first and beginning to peruse the wanted ads for other apartments, Peter realized that he had absolutely no idea what he was looking for. What he even potentially wanted out of another apartment. Except for it being... not here.

He'd been wanting to move ever since Sylar's invasion of his home. But that still didn't mean that Peter had really wanted to move. This had still been his home for a number of years -- he'd gotten used to it. And he'd sort of forgotten what looking for an apartment entailed to begin with. And if he was going to be moving along with Adam-- well, then the decision wasn't entirely up to him. Looking up from his paper and looking around for Adam, Peter realized that he was quite possibly rushing things a little bit. Flipping back to the front page didn't help matters and finally he just flops the paper back on his coffee table, concluding it might be time for coffee. ]

[ Peter'd gone to some out of the way location in the gardens. Mostly so that it was unlikely for anyone to interrupt, and so that if Claire wanted to, she could tell him off at all volumes without anyone else hearing.

Just sitting, fidgeting mostly -- there wasn't anyone who could tell him off exactly like Claire could. But he was hoping for the best, especially since they hadn't been getting along too well as of late. Things had been strained though, for both of them, which was why Peter was thankful for the calm between possible storms -- wasn't there always going to be another storm. But when it got right down to it, Peter was just happy he was going to get to see Claire again, he couldn't even remember the last time he'd spoken to her in person. ]

[ After having to go to Coyote Sands and D.C. without Adam, there really wasn't any way that he was going to go to the Fire Nation without him, either. But he still wanted to go, still wanted to have a break from real life, whatever that meant. And Aang seemed more than a little excited about it, so why not. If more people found out that he was with Adam, then so be it. It was gonna happen sooner or later.

He just had to remember how to get there. It was a little bit like riding a bike -- teleportation. He remembered how to do it, he just wasn't exactly the most confident about his recently returned abilities. He kept expecting to open his eyes and still have it be a dream. ]

Ready? [ He hoped he didn't looked as apprehensive as he felt about this as he wrapped his arms around Adam's waist, holding onto him a little too tightly. Closing his eyes, he hoped for the best, waiting for his feet to once again hit solid ground. Opening his eyes again was the hard part, as worried as he was that they weren't going to be anywhere close to the Fire Nation. But look at that, he didn't actually have anything to worry about. Still holding onto Adam, he gave the place a quick look around from where he stood. ] We're here.

Checked into a cheaper hotel this morning.

Place only has one bed -- pretty sure they thought a giant bathroom was more important. I've already got dibs on the only chair in the room.

At least this hotel seems quieter than the last one.

But we're working on a plan, so hopefully we won't have to stay here longer than a day or two.

His first real attempt to fly is done by jumping off a building, and Nathan finally shows that he can fly by saving him. Peter later wakes up in a hospital bed and Nathan claims he never flew, that Peter tried to kill himself. Later, Nathan meets Peter on the roof of a building and Peter confronts him about his lies. In doing so, he’s able to hover. Sometime after, Peter again attempts flight and finds that he can’t do it unless his brother is around. Later, Nathan lies to New York during a campaign event, claiming that his brother attempted suicide when he jumped off the building, which incredibly upsets Peter. After this event, Peter ends up spending the night with Simone (after she leaves Isaac, supposedly.)

When Peter is visited by a Future Hiro, he learns that he’s meant to “save the cheerleader” to “save the world.” Later, at Isaac’s, Peter sees the paintings of the same cheerleader and knows for a fact that this is what he has to do, what he’s meant to do. After some desperate searching for one more of Isaac’s paintings, Peter is finally able to find out where Claire is going to be. Peter makes it to Claire’s highschool and meets her there. Later, he and Bennett both hear the attack on Claire and another girl and Peter rushes to get Claire away from Sylar. Peter then faces Sylar and knocks them both to the ground, where Sylar attempts to escape.

The police arrest Peter at the scene, made suspicious by the fact that he’s covered in blood. While being held at jail, he’s questioned by Matt. While at jail, he not only has an important conversation with Claire about their abilities and their connection because of them, but after leaving with Nathan, he has his first premonition about the explosion being his fault, after which he blacks out. Peter is unconscious for two weeks afterward.

After leaving the hospital, Peter meets a man by the name of the Claude who helps him learn how to control his abilities. But through Isaac’s help, Mr. Bennet and other men from the Company are able to find Peter and Claude. They capture Claude but Peter escapes and goes to Isaac, where they fight over Simone. Much to both of their horrors, Simone shows up in the midst of it, and she ends up shot by Isaac and killed. After Isaac once again shoots at Peter out of anger, he flies out of the apartment. Later, Peter goes to Mohinder’s apartment, but finds Sylar instead and in the midst of a fight is “killed” by a piece of glass driven into the back of his head. Mohinder takes Peter to his mother after the fight, where Claire shows up and “saves his life” by removing the piece of glass, allowing him to regenerate and come back to life.

Peter and Claire leave the Petrelli mansion in an attempt to get out of New York City and potentially stop the explosion, and later run into Ted Sprague, Matt, and Mr. Bennett on the street, where Peter instantly begins to struggle with controlling Ted’s abilities. After an encounter with Nathan, where Claire runs away, Peter decides that they can’t trust him by reading his mind. Peter attempts to follow Claire but once again struggles with Ted’s abilities and passes out in an alley. Bennett finds him and they all end up in Kirby Plaza, where a fight with Sylar occurs, in the middle of which Peter once again finds he cannot control Ted’s abilities. He attempts to get Claire to shoot him, which she’s willing to do. Instead, in a sudden change of heart, Nathan decides to step in and help. Grabbing onto Peter, he flies them above New York City, where Peter goes nuclear in the sky.

Volume 2: This seasons starts off with Peter found stuck inside a cargo carrier in Ireland, having no idea who he is or where he came from, save for a box that he’s left with. While in Ireland, he falls for a woman named Caitlin, the sisters of one of the men that found him. She encourages him to find out who he truly is. Inside the box he finds a planet ticket to Montreal and later he paints an image of him and Caitlin in Montreal, which is where they head to next and go directly to the building that Peter painted. There, Peter finds a note with his name on it, from a man named Adam stating that they were right about the Company. Still not remembering anything, when Caitlin hugs Peter, he takes them both to the future.

In this future, Peter finds out that a disease has spread across the globe and is taken to see his mother, who then helps him bring back some of his memories. His mother attempts to bring him home, but he sees Caitlin, and instead of being able to take them both home, he is only able to time travel himself back to the present where he then meets Adam, who helps him remember the past four months:

Saving Nathan after the explosion by taking him to the nearest hospital, just moment’s after dropping him off, Peter is caught by Elle and her father, one of the founders of the company. By them, he’s convinced to stay at Primatech and have his abilites controlled. Peter allows himself to be kept locked inside the Company for four months. Next to his cell is Adam’s, a man who slowly convinces him that the Company is keeping him imprisoned. After weening himself off the Haitian Pills’, Adam and Peter leave together and go heal Nathan. Once they leave the hospital, Adam gives him a planet ticket to Montreal, but Elle and the Haitian catch them. Elle goes after Adam whereas the Haitian goes after Peter, puts him into a cargo carrier and erases his memory.

Once Peter has his memory returned, he and Adam work to keep the future that Peter saw from occurring: the spread of the Shanti virus. Adam and Peter first go to Victoria Pratt, who gives them information on the location of the virus, but warns Peter that he’s helping Adam release the virus, like he’s tried to do once before. After leaving, Adam and Peter go to Primatech to destroy the virus, where they find Hiro, who also tells Peter that Adam is trying to release the virus. A fight ensues, and Hiro is knocked out by a blast from Peter. Adam and Peter make through way through Primatech, and open the vault where it’s located. Nathan and Matt find Peter and Adam and Nathan is finally able to convince Peter of Adam’s plans to release the virus and “wipe clean” the world. Peter rushes into the vault and saves the virus seconds before it’s released.

At the end of Volume 2, Nathan is seen shot during a press conference.

Volume 3: It’s revealed that the person who shot Nathan was a Peter from the future, to keep him from telling everyone about people with abilities. Future!Peter puts Present!Peter in the body of another man, Jesse, with abilities who’s kept at Primatech. During a fight on Level 5 of Primatech, Jesse/Present!Peter and his friends escape. After revealing himself to Nathan, F!Peter, teleports to Level 5 and finds Sylar and Angela, who he tells that this never occurred in his future. While this goes on, P!Peter, still trapped in the body of Jesse, is forced to help rob a bank. During the robbery, the other people he’s with realize that Jesse isn’t exactly himself and attack him. In the middle of the fight, F!Peter arrives and pushes Peter out of Jesse’s body before teleporting them both away. They then travel into a future where nearly everyone has abilities, and F!Peter tells P!Peter that he now has to stop this future that he’s created because the world will be destroyed by all the people with abilities. In the future, P!Peter finds a changed Sylar. They talk and Peter finds out that they’re “brothers.” Sylar gives Peter his ability so Peter can use it to save the world. After another large fight in Sylar’s house, Gabriel explodes, killing thousands of people.

After returning to the present, Peter goes to Sylar’s cell at Primatech where Sylar taunts Peter about the fact that they’re brothers. Peter not only fights Sylar but attempts to slice Angela’s head open as well - his rage from acquiring Sylar’s ability quickly beginning to show. Angela decides to keep Peter sedated at Primatech, but Sylar comes to save him and they both decide to attempt to control their hunger. After going to see Angela, Peter attacks Sylar in the halls of Primatech and sedates him instead.

Peter then teleports to Pinehearst where he ends up finding out that his father is alive. Arthur uses his ability to steal Peter’s and then takes him to Mohinder’s lab where Sylar saves him moments before he’s about to be injected with a formula to give him an ability again. Peter escapes while Sylar is attacked by Mohinder. Soon enough though, Peter again finds Sylar and warns him that anything Arthur might’ve told him is a lie. Arthur shows up a moment later and says they can change the future, but Sylar claims Peter isn’t going anywhere and telekinetically pushes Peter out a window, where he falls seven stories, landing in front of Claire and Elle, and survives (because Sylar purposefully kept him from dying).

Peter and Claire take off on the run together in an attempt to keep safe. But they return to Primatech to speak to Angela where she explains to Peter and Nathan that to keep the formula from being produced, Peter needs to keep Arthur from finding the host of the catalyst that the formula requires. Soon after, Nathan and Peter depart for Haiti to go after the Haitian. The entire trip to Haiti, Peter and Nathan fight. After finding the Haitian, Peter and Nathan help him deal with his brother. After the Haitian leaves to deal with him, Peter and Nathan have a discussion and Nathan admits that he thinks their father’s plan is a good idea. He tells Peter to call the embassy to get him, and then flies away, leaving Peter alone.

Once back, the Haitian and Peter go to Primatech, were Angela tells them that the only way to stop Arthur is a shot to the head and Peter takes the gun. With the Haitian, they make it to Pinehearst and confront Arthur while the Haitian subdues his ability. Right when Peter shoots, Sylar shows up and freezes the bullet. He questions Arthur about whether he’s his father, and reads his mind, only to find out that he’s been lied to. After claiming that Peter isn’t a murderer, he releases the bullet and Arthur is killed, after which, Sylar escapes.

Peter and Nathan argue about the fact that he’s released the formula to the military and Peter ends up knocking Nathan unconscious. With the help of Jesse and his friends, Peter is able to destroy Pinehearst, but not before finally choosing to inject himself with the formula. But before the entire place goes up in flames, Peter flies both himself and Nathan out of there.

Volume 4: Three weeks later, Peter has begun work as a paramedic. He finds out from Claire that Nathan is planning to round up people with abilities. Arriving at his apartment later, he finds Nathan and Bennett tasers Peter from behind. All the people with abilities are sedated and stashed aboard planes. Claire finds Peter and Mohinder and wakes them up, and they all attempt to take down the plane, but when Peter takes Tracy’s ability and freezes the side of a plane, it crashes. Peter attempts to escape with Claire but is caught by Bennett, and held at gunpoint until he finally lets him go. Later, Peter as well as a number of the others regroup and decide to go underground.

After keeping a close watch on Bennett, they find him and try to decide what to do. Peter, Matt, and Mohinder drug Bennett and then kidnap him, so that Matt can use his mind reading ability to interrogate him. They find out who’s in charge of the plan to capture the Heroes: a man by the name of Danko, who Peter then flies off to murder. Arriving at Danko’s apartment, Peter holds the other man at gunpoint, and Danko attempts to get Peter to kill him. After viewing this on a security camera, Nathan shows up and tries to keep Peter from doing anything rash, and Peter ends up shooting Danko in the shoulder. When Nathan tells him that an army squad is about to move in on Matt and Mohinder, he finally leaves, flying out the window. Getting there barely in time, Peter is able to rescue Matt and fly away, escaping to Isaac’s loft.

At Isaac’s loft Matt says that all he wants to do is find Daphne and suddenly a computer turns on and “Rebel” gives them her whereabouts. They leave for Washington, DC to find Daphne. Rebel sends Peter footage of the flight with the Heroes that were made hostages and Peter copies the footage to a hard drive. Matt ends up captured but Peter escapes. He calls Nathan and demands that Daphne and Matt are set free or he’ll give the video to the news. Peter ends up meeting Bennett on the roof of a parking garage and he warns him telepathically that it’s a trap. Danko manages to shoot Peter in the shoulder and he falls off the roof. But Nathan flies up and rescues him, taking him to safety. Angela and Nathan try to persuade Peter to come quietly, but refuses, hugs Nathan to steal his ability and flies away.

Later, Angela and Peter meet and he rescues her from Danko’s men. Peter tells his mother that all he wants is answers and they head to her church, so Angela can relax and have her dreams. Danko’s agents arrive after Peter and Angela talk. He calmly takes Angela and tto the confessionals to hide. Bennett is able to find them, but keeps their whereabouts secret. Later, Angela finally sleeps in the church and tells Peter that they have to bring together their family and find her sister.

Peter and Angela leave for “Coyote Sands” and meet Nathan and Claire there. Angela says that to understand what’s going to happen, they must dig up the past. After finding shallow graves, Peter demands to know what they’re digging up. Angela explains she came to Coyote Sands when she was a girl and her family died there, but that’s also where the young founders of The Company met, and where they vowed to never let what happened there, happen again. Peter refuses to ever be a part of the Company again, and he flies off, only to have Nathan follow. At a cafe, Nathan and Peter talk and begin to work through their frustrations with each other. After this, Peter and Nathan fly back to find Angela missing. Soon enough, they find her in a bunker and save her from her sister.

At the cafe, Peter, Claire, Bennett, Angela, and Nathan all watch as Sylar disguised as Nathan gives a live speech. Nathan leaves to keep Sylar from meeting the President and Peter follows. He arrives at Nathan’s office and from there they head off to the Stanton Hotel to the Presidential suite where they fight Sylar along with Claire. Nathan flies after Sylar while Peter and Claire head back downstairs together and Peter confirms he’s taken Sylar’s ability. Disguising himself as the President, Peter gets into a limo with Sylar, disguised as the White House chief of staff, and is able to capture him.

Volume 5: Bennett arrives at Peter’s apartment and he finds out that Danko is dead, killed by Edgar over a key to a safety deposit box and Bennett wants him to help. Peter only agrees because of an interest in Edgar’s ability. After fighting Edgar, they retrieve the box which has a compass inside, that they find only works in Peter’s hand. But Peter refuses to be involved with Bennett any longer and leaves.

Later, Samuel convinces Peter that he is a man that he hurt while working. Peter apologizes and they discuss the loss of Samuel’s brother, after which Samuel drops a lawsuit he had filed against him. Later, Peter and his partner from work arrive to help at a house that’s been dropped into a sinkhole. While there a tattoo appears on Peter’s arm of a spinning compass. When Peter goes to show Bennett, it has disappeared.

Peter returns home from work, and finds Hiro, who collapses in front of him. In an attempt to save Hiro, Peter goes with Bennett, to find a boy with healing abilities. They discover that the boy has learned to take life force’s away instead of healing. In a brief skirmish, Peter ends up shot, and Bennett is able to convince him to use his ability to save his life just before he dies. Peter returns to the hospital only to find that Hiro has again teleported away.

Feeling as if he might be starting to connect with Emma and other people again, Peter returns home, takes his newspaper clippings off the wall, and Nathan comes to visit. Peter goes with Nathan to his office where they discuss what’s been happening to him. The Haitian shows up and tells Peter the truth: that Sylar killed Nathan and that once Sylar was sedated, they turned him into Nathan and replaced all his memories. The Haitian gives Peter an address to a storage building, where Peter takes Nathan with him and they find Nathan’s dead body.

While keeping watch on Nathan in his apartment, Angela shows up with thanksgiving dinner. After a heated discussion, Sylar gains control of his body as well as Peter’s and Angela’s. Nathan manages to return to himself and flies out the window, followed by Peter. Later at the hospital, Peter is attacked by Sylar and they fight. Since he’d taken the Haitian’s ability earlier, Peter is able to erase Sylar’s memories once again. After this, Peter takes Nathan to a rooftop where he claims he can’t do it anymore, and after a heartbreaking conversation for Peter, Nathan jumps and releases Sylar completely, killing Nathan. Sometime after Nathan’s funeral, Peter asks if Claire can call West, who he borrows the ability of flight from to remember Nathan by.

Later, Peter is told by Angela that she dreams Emma kills thousands of people using her cello and that Peter cannot save her. After taking her ability, Peter dreams the same and goes to Emma’s apartment. There, he smashes her cello before leaving. Later, he goes to Matt’s house, and arrives just as Matt is packing Sylar, who is in a coma, behind a brick wall of his creation. Peter uses Matt’s ability to find out what he’s done, and in an attempt to save Sylar, is then transported into his mind.

Trapped, inside an empty city, Peter manages to find Sylar. He tries to convince him that he’s real and that Matt has put them into the dream, but also that he needs his help to save Emma. After a “month”, they discover they must break through a wall to escape. They work together and Sylar begins to apologize for all his actions. Finally breaking through, they wake up in Matt’s basement and learn they’ve only been in the dream for half a day.

Upstairs they find Eli and his clones, who they fight him along with Matt. Using Matt’s ability, Peter reads Eli’s mind to find out that Samuel is going to use his ability in NYC that night. Without the help of Matt, Peter and Nathan arrive at the carnival and Peter goes to find Samuel while Sylar rescues Emma. In the middle of Samuel’s act, Peter attacks, duplicates his ability, and they fight. After Hiro is able to teleport everyone away, Samuel loses his intensified ability and Peter is able to knock him down just as Bennett arrives. Sylar saves Emma and her and Peter talk just before they all watch as Claire jumps off the Ferris wheel.

Changes from canon, if AU: N/A

Abilities:

The ability that Peter has now, at the end of canon, is ability replication. Anyone that he touches that possesses an ability, he’s able to replicate and use that ability until he touches someone else. He can’t hold more than one ability at a time.
Character Information

General
Canon Source: Heroes
Canon Format: Tv show
Character's Name: Peter Petrelli
Character's Age: Born Dec. 23, 1979, Peter would be 27 at the canon point he’d be taken from.

What form will your character's NV take? His cellphone~ Which is probably just some nondescript slim black flippy thing.

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Peter starts off in volume one with the ability of 'empathetic mimicry'. This means that whenever he’s near people with other abilities, he can absorb theirs -- both the good aspects of said ability as well as the bad. In the beginning, Peter struggles with using his ability at all. He's unable to fly unless he's around his brother, who has the ability of flight. But without Nathan, he plummets. He automatically begins reading Matt's mind when he's near him, as soon as Matt starts attempting to read Peter's mind. He heals only when he's near Claire, who is trying to heal herself. Before he even realizes what his actual ability is, he can't even figure out how to control it, no matter how badly he wants to.

But with Claude's help, Peter's able to begin to understand what he needs to do to to call out which ability he might need. Even though Claude's methods are undeniably violent, they do work, and Peter begins being able to actually use his ability. Sort of. Put under pressure and with his life threatened as well as other people's, Peter finds that he can finally begin to control the abilities that he's absorbed. But as volume 1 progresses, when Peter absorbs an ability that's too much even for him, he finds that he's once again in the same boat as he was before -- stuck with an ability that he desperately wanted, but is working against his desire to save everyone. He can't control the ability of induced radioactivity that he gains and it's going to destroy people he loves.

At the end of Volume one, Peter is still struggling with the abilities that he has managed to absorb. While he's getting far better at it, he still knows that his abilities have the possibility to hurt others and he's more than a little bit desperate to find a way to control them to keep that from happening. The abilities that he's gained up his specific canon point, are: flight, precognitive dreaming, precognition (expressed in painting), enhanced strength, telekinesis, space-time manipulation, rapid cell regeneration, invisibility, telepathy, phasing (though he's completely unaware of this ability), and induced radioactivity.

Even though this wouldn't apply necessarily to Sirens Pull, by the end of Volume two, he gathers a large range of abilities that range from flight (gained in v1) to invisibility (gained in v1) to electric manipulation (gained in v2). He can pull whichever he wants of these out at will to use and has all the benefits of the abilities he gains. Partway through volume three, his father steals his abilities, but he gains them back with an injection, changing his ability to 'ability replication' where he can only use one ability at a time. Once again, the ability of 'ability replication' wouldn't apply to Sirens Pull, but it does apply to the entirety of Peter's history.

But in terms of what might occur while at Siren's Port, Peter's ability of empathetic mimicry would still apply. He might have trouble controlling his ability, since he still hasn't exactly perfected it (he did very nearly blow up Kirby plaza, after all) as well as the fact that he'll still be absorbing other people's abilities. As he spends more time in Siren's Port, it's likely that he'll gain more control, but in the beginning he'll still struggle for a bit.

Since it's likely that while at Sirens Port, what with the panfandom aspect of it, he might come across wizards. Personally, I don't believe that he'd absorb their powers. The talent of using magic (or wizardry) is an entirely different ball game and in most fandoms it's discussed as something a character is inherently born with. In the Heroes canon, the eclipse is something that brought about everyone's abilities, none of the characters with abilities were born with a power they could tap into at a certain age (though it is considered a genetic trait). Personally, I don't believe that Peter would be able to absorb magic (nor do I think that he would be able to absorb the abilities of any sort of god/demon/mythological creature).

I'd be more than happy to deal with Peter absorbing abilities in a purely case by case basis, since I don't exactly want him coming an all powerful beastly person with an unstoppable amount of abilities. He still has a hard enough time controlling the stronger abilities that he does possess, such as the induced radioactivity that he gets from Ted (the reason he "goes nuclear" above New York.) Every canon has its own rules about characters with genetic or inherited abilities and it would depend on a lot of things if Peter was to gain their abilities.

Lastly, Peter would be using his abilities to fight the things that come out at night at Siren's Port. There's no way he's going to lose that ability. It's also quite possible, that since Peter's not exactly good at being 'neutral' minded (as he's guided by his own moral compass and has very strong opinions), he'd use his abilities if need be against people if he felt that he needed to. All things considered, though, if someone is convincing enough, Peter's morals can get a little bit twisted if he thinks he's still striving for good.

Weapons: None, save for his abilities.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Volume 1: Working as a hospice nurse, Peter’s dreams of flight are the first sign of his ability and Peter knows that Nathan has something to do with it.

Other links: Peter Petrelli at Heroes!Wiki

Note: This is the entire canon history, but only Volume 1 would apply.

Point in Canon: Peter will be taken directly after he goes nuclear in the center of Kirby Plaza (November 8th, 2006) This was a time of incredible strife for Peter considering he nearly killed a large number of people, and the simple fact that he feels moderately betrayed by his own powers. He wants to control himself, and he wants to be special, but he also wants to save people. In essence, he wanted to use his powers for good, not evil. And his inability to control himself wasn’t allowing that to happen.

Character Personality: Peter is, outwardly at least, rather simple when it comes to his personality.

Guess this is part of the community everyone was telling me about... since the computer won't let me off this site. And now I can tell I really have been on here before. Still don't remember anything, though.

But I painted something. I don't know how. Some street in Montreal.

So that's where we're going.

[ ooc; this is backdated to 2-ish days ago since RL is... really busy at the moment, and that gives enough time for Peter to get his memory back for the Brian/Claire plot, and moving Peter ahead in his canon. :3 ]

[ Peter's been wandering aimlessly for the past day. Sure, he got some sleep, but that's not the point. The point is, he's got amnesia, he's confused, and he's on a ghost ship. Life just really couldn't get more baffling.

He's trying to avoid as many people as possible, since he's concerned about running into more people he might have known in his 'past life'. Not to mention, he's back to worrying about blowing up.

But that's not important right now. Right now he's on his own secret mission to explore all of this ship without being seen. ]

[[ooc; SO. Canon jump to 2x01/2x02.
//ooc: reference//

It was the fact that he couldn't do anything that he found so infuriating. He couldn't save Claire from whatever was happening to her now and apparently he hadn't been able to anyway. Save the cheerleader, save the world. It had sounded so easy, and he'd done it, but he still didn't feel any closer to saving the world, or anyone really. She'd said that Sylar had gotten her ability, even though he'd just saved her at Homecoming -- he'd stopped it once, why couldn't he stop it again in his own future. What had gone wrong? What was going on? It didn't seem fair that no matter what he did, the world was going to fall down around him and some part of it was going to be his fault.

Made oblivious by his own frustrations, Peter smells it first. Something burning; not the most familiar smell, but it was one he knew well enough. Campfires and the occasional dinner that got too crispy in the oven. His own anger dampening as his frustration turns to confusion, he lifts his face and blinks a few times. A second later, he looks over his shoulder and stares in shock at the table that has seemingly decided to spontaneously catch on fire. Looking around for the source of the fire, he doesn't find any, making him even more baffled.

It takes far too long for the actual realization of what's happening to occur to him, but when he does, he stares down at his own hands and then back at the table. Thoughts backtracking to Zuko and to his own abilities, Peter swears under his own breath when it finally becomes clear that he's once again picked up another ability. Snapping back to attention though, he realizes that he's sat here while a table starts to char in front of him, and that maybe he should take care of it before it sets anything else on fire.

02. RL with Abby || Backdated to Friday
Standing outside the coffee shop, Peter has his hands shoved into his pockets while he waits, about as awkwardly as any person can manage. It has nothing to do with the early hour, he used to get up this early for work, but more for the fact that.. meeting people for coffee that he'd never really spoken to before? Not exactly Peter's forte.

Looking back and forth along the street as people pass by, he still wasn't sure if Abby was going to find a way to get here. He wouldn't be too terribly shocked if she didn't show, considering this worldhopping thing was still incredibly new to him and a number of other people. He didn't know how it worked, nor did he know what to expect from it.

But he was there on time, at the very least, waiting for Abby, whether or not she managed to show up. And hey, if she didn't, he'd be undoubtedly disappointed but at least there was coffee to be had?
