So, my intentions for NaNo this year were to not officially join, but still write the 50k by adding and finishing off to the past NaNo novels. But... then I started going on the forums and just couldn't resist signing up with a new novel. I'd alreay come up with the plot last year and I'm rather proud of the idea. But another part of me is already regretting this haha. I've attempted the camps to finish off novels, but it never happens for me. So I guess, here goes to another unfinished, un edited novel :P

What's everybody else's plans for this year? Yes or No? First attempt orr your umpteenth time?

The not so cool Netflix...

A few months ago Netflix came to Australia and I avoided getting an account. But yesterday after discovering I could get a month's free trial, I thought why not. Let's try it out.

And I was rather disappointed. Now, I am not sure if it is like this in the USA (or other countries) because Australia is extremely protective of its TV and who gets to show what and it has all these laws, but essentially every show I wanted to watch and catch up on was not being shown on there. The only show which was on there was Supernatural, but not season 10 which is what I needed.

I do watch things online in other places, but that was getting on my nerves because of all the adds and pop-ups, so I thought to try something else. But it's not suiting my needs haha.

My dad has Foxtel here (cable/pay TV) and part of the deal is he can get something called Foxtel Go on 3 other devices. Even though I live 300km or so away I have it on an old laptop hooked up to a TV. It has a catchup thing, where you can download shows that aren't currently airing, but are available. So I looked through it and thought I'd give a show called Carnivale a go.

My thoughts so far are it's a really complex/intriguing plot line. I reached episode 4 last night of season 1. I'm hoping it makes season 2 available soon. It aired between 2003-2005 apparently, so a rather old show but I am enjoying it.

I previously had a rather lengthy list, but if it wasn't on Netflix or Foxtel (or I hadn't begun watching it) I deleted it. So now my list is significantly limited to:

Chicago Fire (rest of season 3 - Foxtel shows this, but have not made it available on Catchup)
Elementary (latest season)
Supernatural (season 10)
Chicago P.D (haven't started, but it's linked to Chicago Fire, so why not)
Resurrection (the only show I am actually up to date on)
Downton Abbey (finish off season 5 - Netflix shows up to season 4, but I assume that once it is released in Australia on DVD it'll be made available)
Carnivale
Game of Thrones (this is generally available for catchup on Foxtel at some stage or another)

Hello!

Again, been forever since I last made a post, but upon logging into my account for a reason I'll mention below, I have suddenly felt inspired to actually use this regularly again (let's hope I can keep that promise!)

Anyway, so what has changed is I am about to complete my uni degree at the end of the year. That is... if my lecturer gets back to me. Commencing my fourth and final year has been a struggle. I failed my first assignment ever and that just added more stress to the already stressed me. I've been referred to a psychologist upon my own request but I managed to get to one appointment after 6 weeks of waiting and then she went on a month long holiday. So, yeah, it's a slow process.

To be honest, I've had so much to focus on that the fandom aspect of my life has kind of gone by the way side. Something had to give and that was it. I've all but given up fanfiction (still competing in one competition) and, yeah. I just have other things.

Ever since booking a trip to Austria at the end of the year, travel has been on the forefront of my mind. I've become obsessed with it, and after we decided we wanted to try and do a holiday a year, I was inspired to create a challenge for it. That leads me to why I am here. I have created a Facebook page and website (and forum) based around this challenge. It's less than a week old so I am trying to get likes and people involved in it. So if you could kindly all like my page and share/invite friends that would be lovely. It's my new interest and a distraction from uni. Link is here.

Blogging about travel and everything has become my new hobby (not that I've gone anywhere yet to do that) and I even bought a decent camera in preparation. Er so, yeah, this page may become very travel-ish in the future and I apologise if that doesn't interest some of you. I suppose interests change and life changes.

Yes, it's been forever since I've made an appearance on here, most of you have probably forgotten me. But I am alive and I've just been busy.

To be honest, not much has happened to report about anyway. Just uni, uni, uni. On the 22nd December I leave for a trip to the USA. It's a tour - New Orleans to New York which I am excited about. I do have to get through another prac first, though.

The news I'm most excited about though, is quite recently, I have started seeing a very nice boy :) I've known him probably since June, as we work(ed) together. It wasn't until we stayed up to 4am one night at his place after a party (drunk) talking that we kinda started things in a romantic fashion (and even then it took another week for us to officially start dating). We work at a chain swim centre and as a new one is opening in the same town, but different place, and he hates our boss, he's moving over to that centre. We have decided it's probably worked out nicely in that sense, though. Since becoming official (to our work people) we've done two shifts together and it's rather uncomfortable being in a relationship when in a work place you have to be all professional and what not :P We haven't been seeing each other for that long, but so far it's going quite well and I'm rather happy right now :D

That's about all that's been happening in my life apart from I have an assignment due today worth 60% of my mark for that unit... so you know yeah.

Shocking! Jo Rowling's words were misinterpreted...

The full article is out, and nope, not a word of regretting Ron and Hermione. Here is the full article if you wanna read.

What she did say was essentially, she felt that Harry and Hermione could have happened (in the tent stuff) and that in a perfect world, they probably are more compatible.

But did she say that she should have ended up with Harry INSTEAD of Ron? Nope. Not a word.

What we saw in the quote was Emma wondering if Ron could have made Hermione happy. What we DIDN'T see was Jo saying 'vice versa'.

What we also didn't see was the rest of the interview, where, in the end, Jo also said that Ron and Hermione could work. They might need some marriage counselling, but they could work.

And, I'm not sure if it is just my shipper heart seeing this (someone please see if it's really there or just me) but the whole conversation seemed to be quite light-hearted to be honest. Like, yeah, Harry and Hermione, but really it was Ron and Hermione and they could work. That's the way I saw it.

So, all in all, most of us were right. Out of context, Jo does not 'regret' putting them together, and she still thinks they could work. Nor was there any mention of her saying Harry and Hermione should have married, stupid media.

So all that Tumblr panic I was inflicted in the Romione tag was worth nothing... just like I told them

Yes, I ship them.

The reasons I ship them... there are many, but one big one is that it wasn't the cliche romance between Harry and Hermione, it was something different.

Do I believe this 'article'? I believe someone saw a few quotes here and there and decided to put them in an article and it sent the fandom in a frenzy.

Do I believe her words were taken out of context? Most definitely. 7 years of defending her decisions to only take it back now? It's all bullshit if you ask me.

Am I upset? More angry at the fact that the Romione tag on Tumblr is not filled with gifs, but rants and hate at JKR now. I'm not believing anything until directly confirmed by Jo herself.

If it's true... I'll be disappointed that she's now saying she should have written the cliche trope, something I always admired her for NOT doing.

As for Emma... she's the biggest Romione shipper I know. Then all of a sudden... oh HarryHermione is the way to go.

Someone's got their wires crossed somewhere.

It's Christmas Time!

Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate and to all those who don't enjoy the holidays!

What's everyone else's Christmas traditions with family? We generally wake up in the morning, go about our normal business of getting ready, breakfast, etc, open presents, have a lovely lunch of roast turkey and vegetables and then just chill in the afternoon (and eat turkey and ham for the next week). We don't do much, especially on days like today where it has been raining all day (the weather chose to have a cold snap right smack-bang on Christmas day, and tomorrow, it goes right back to 30 plus degrees celcius).

I got some pretty awesome gifts. My sister chose well for me. Let's all just take a moment to appreciate these pants she got me (note the pattern on them):

I hope you can see, but the pattern in Deathly Hallows symbol :) Best pants ever is all I can say.

From my parents, I was given the whole Harry Potter collection of audio CDs read by Stephen Fry! I don't really have the time to read them, but now I can sit and listen to the books when I am doing uni work and such.

My sister and I really got into the Christmas spirit today with the hats and the tinsel. It was fun.

01. Who's your favourite character in 2?
Has to be Castiel, I think. I love Castiel. Truthfully, he was what regained my interest in the show when he joined. He can be a barrel of laughs, and is just a very enjoyable character in my opinon.

02. Who's your least favourite character in 1?
Well, I was never a fan of Uther to be honest. I wanted to punch him most of the time.

03. What's your favourite episode of 4?
There were so many beautiful episodes, but the only one I felt the need to watch again because of adorableness was the very final episode "The Last Laugh".

04. What's your favourite season of 5?
Well, there's 10 seasons... I started watching the show when season 4 was on TV (I was 6, why did my parents let me?) so probably that one.

05. Who is your favourite ship in 3?

BarneyRobin are adorable, but I think I've got to go with TedMother. It gives me feels and I haven't even really seen them together yet.

06. Who is your antiship in 2?
Wincest -.-

07. How long have you watched 1?
Since it was released practically, in season 1. I came into it 3 episodes into season 1 and haven't missed an episode since.

08. How did you become interested in 3?
I kept seeing it advertised on TV and I was like alright, I'll give it a go, and I've almost seen every episode in all 9 seasons.

09. Who's your favourite actor/actress in 4?
I've always had a soft spot for Ray Romano.

Don't make meee chooseee. Nooo. Um, Merlin, probably? It really depends what I'm in the mood for.

I think technically there are more episodes of HIMYM but percentage wise, I'm 100% with Merlin.

Debra, I guess. Just not a whiny.

My favourite character died -.- They kill my Gwainy. Maybe I'd prefer him to die in battle.

Yep, I think it could definitely be pulled off. After all, they're both set in New York, so they could easily cross paths.

Arthur/Merlin - yeah it could work.

It did when I was little. I loved Monica and Chandler, I wanted a relationship like theirs.

Ahhh, don't make me choose. I think ELR's cast is more 'legendary' if that makes sense.

So I managed to make it through prac. I still need to pick up my report from the centre, which I'm hoping they pass me. Eeep.

Today, I've done nothing. I was taking full advantage of my freedom until uni goes back next year at the end of January.

We were also looking for a new house, and yesterday we got approved for one. I've only seen pictures, and it looks alright. There are really only 2 things I don't like about it - it's on the main road and it's in an area that is not known for being one of the safest places in Canberra. I think I'm just sad to say goodbye to this house. We get the keys on the 11th. Have to be out of this place by the 16th. Ew. I'm going to have to survive on minimum internet until the 22nd when I go home. Not fun, not fun.

I kind of feel like I need find a new hobby over the holidays. My life is currently writing and watching sport on TV. Pinterest has sparked my interest in DIY things, but... I dunno. Any suggestions? I bought a book and CDs to learn Irish, so I might do that. There's no reason for me to learn Irish other than the fact that I just want to, so that can be a hobby.

NaNo Woes & Reality Woes

So, firstly... NaNo. Ew. I was so looking forward to NaNo and taking a month of fanfiction. Fanfiction has been making me mad lately so I was really happy to work on some original fiction - especially as I'd had this idea for some time now. Now that I'm writing original, every idea for fanfiction under the sun is coming to my brain and it's all I want to write. This would not be an issue if I had the time to do both, but I don't. I only have time to do one or the other, and I am just struggling to find the motivation to NaNo right now. I am well above schedule, but I'm not happy with what I'm writing. Ugh. But I am determined to finish regardless of the crapness. Even if I hate it all afterwards, I still wrote 50k, right?

Secondly. Life. Ugh. I live in a house with 3 other girls. One, I knew was moving out with her boyfriend at the end of this year. That was always going to be the case. We were prepared for that. We already had a new housemate lined up and everything. All was good. Then, a few days ago, another housemate announced she was leaving, too. This said housemate has been struggling all semester to the point that no one knew what to do with her. She wouldn't talk to us, she always seemed to be in a shitty mood, so we just stayed well out of her way.

I love this housemate. I really do. She's the sweetest, kindest person you'll ever meet. Truly. But she's very family-oriented to the point that she (an adult) lets her parents make all her decisions for her. From what used to be a visit about once a month, these visits from her parents turned into weekly, sometimes more. They'd rearrange OUR house, add things of theirs to it, and interfere quite a bit. It became really frustrating, but what could we say? These were her parents.

It is obvious her parents have made this decision with her. She hasn't been coping, and we think that her mother has made her leave because we basically weren't treating this housemate like our own child and catering to her every need. WE ARE NOT THERE TO ACT AS HER MOTHER. Housemate is oblivious to it all, and if she were aware, I know she would feel terrible. It's just her mother.

And yesterday, they basically came and packed up everything that she's brought into the house without a question of 'do you need help finding anything we're taking?' Nope, they just packed it all up and it's just going to be sitting there for a over a week and we can't even use parts of our house basically because of all the shit.

And, today (because she still lives here technically) me and her were looking at how to change a light bulb in the kitchen, and he mum comes storming in really rudely and says to her daughter 'why are you doing this? Why can't someone else do it? You should be packing.' Um, hello, this housemate changes all the freaking light bulbs in the house because she knows how to. Housemate was happy to do it and apologised for what her mother said, but her mother... OMG. Up until a few days ago, I actually really liked her mother.

We've offended her for some unknown reason and now she's just stormed her ADULT daughter out of this house without a care in the world. Like, ugh. Ugh. She still fucking lives here. And to be honest, I am currently hiding in my room because I don't feel welcome in MY hoiuse

Some New TV

So, I've finally found time to watch some TV... but my own time, not the TV schedule's time.

Currently I've been going through the seasons of Everybody Loves Raymond. I'm not sure why. They had the reruns on TV and I just felt like it brought back some of my childhood for me. It kind of used to be the show the whole family sat down to watch every night. I have never seen the whole series, though. I'm currently reaching the end of season 7/9. So almost there.

Next stop will be catching up with Supernatural. I'm not sure what happened there. I was just never available to watch when they had it on TV, and the internet where I lived last year was so ugh it would have taken me 24 hours to download 1 episode so I kinda just stopped. I'm somewhere in the middle of season 8, and after I finish ELR that will be the first thing I do - catching up with Supernatural.

Following that will be Game of Thrones. I was about 4 episodes into season 2. So, a fair way behind, but I shall catch up on that.

After that, I've got nothing. What are some suggestions for me to watch?
