About the Artwork

Every page of the Hub features artwork by a disabled artist—over 50 in total—each piece a testament to the power, nuance, and brilliance of disabled creativity.

As the tablecloth extends across the table surface, it begins to unravel and transform into a root system, and the wooden surface of the table transforms into dirt. On the right side of the table, on top of the tablecloth, are white plates. The farthest right is set with utensils, and has a sprouted potato on it. Similarly to the tablecloth, the plates start whole, and then begin to crack and chip until they are shards in the dirt. This is not decoration. It’s a deliberate act of centering disabled artists, whose stories, perspectives, and cultural labor are too often sidelined. As you explore the Hub, you’ll be in conversation with these artists. We hope their work invites reflection, provokes imagination, and provides deeper context for the work ahead. We also invite you to look to these artists—and other disabled creators—when seeking collaborators, creators, or hires. All artists were compensated for the use of their work.
