A team on a tangent, a connecting thread of shifting movement, a studio’s broad toolkit of techniques. From 2D to 3D, from Unreal to handcrafted feel, mograph, frame-by-frame, paints, crayons, vectors, every technique under the studio roof.
Tangent does what it says on the tin. A quick succession of vibrant, contrasting animations stitched together via an invisible motion seam.
From the face of the moon, to glowing orb, the circular guide shape that moves through the film was interpreted in a number of different ways.
Each member of the team had a 3 second section and complete creative freedom.
The guide circle was reimagined into a house rocketing into space and an eerie, descending elevator but despite the vast array of different environments, the motion stayed seamless throughout. Tangent is a demonstration of the breadth of expertise within the studio team elevated through collaboration.
"This project was about showcasing the creative freedom of the studio, being unexpected and surprising and really witnessing the individual expression of each member of the creative team. It was fun to see the different ways our guide video was interpreted."
Stephen Middleton, Creative Director at Art&Graft
The rave rock that never sleeps.
Ancient rock forms, nightclub strobes, thousands of particles, 3D modelling on the commute, countless frame-by-frame flourishes, a rock for eternity.
From the dying embers of our planet smoulders the studio team’s latest creation.
An ill-advised experiment in future-tourism, hundreds of unlikely motion-captured creatures resurrected, a group of scientists pushing at the boundaries of time and nature, a family of unwitting guests missing.
An ecological exploration in coral and polythene.
A scan of coral, a plastic takeover, countless failed simulations, billions of tons of plastic, five oceans, one planet.
