First Dreamwidth post!

I got a Dreamwidth invite this morning, so this is actually a cross-post from Dreamwidth. Let's see if it works...

So LJ import seems to have gone well. Some observations:

It was fast! About 6 minutes to do the whole lot!
Comments preserved and look pretty good.
Only my main icon was imported. Not too much hassle to manually add the rest.
I could have sworn the privacy settings were preserved, but it appears everything is flocked at the moment. Maybe because I fiddled with the default privacy settings, but I assumed that was for new posts only.
The extra settings for post restrictions look very good.

Anyway, I now have a proper friend! Hi alasen ! It's just like first day of LJ again!

Edit: I should have read this earlier!

The plant in our room looked very thirsty, so we watered it and decided to take a webcam shot every 2 minutes.

And then we uploaded it to You Tube.

We filmed our plant for a day.

Adam turned the light off when he left, but you get to see the sunrise too.

I had a fantastic weekend at the Golden Demon, this year held in
Parramatta. I managed to walk away with two trophies, a Silver in 40k
Squad with my Ordo Xenos squad, and a Bronze in 40k Large with my
Nurgle Terminator Lord. A big congratulations to all the participants
and winners, competition was fierce this year and will only get better
next year. Games Workshop has just posted pics on their website here:

Also congrats to my fellow Chatswood entrant,
Sebastian, who not only won gold in 40k Single, but managed to walk
away with the Slayer Sword!

And no Golden Demon coverage would
be complete without mention of the dinner afterwards, held at it's
traditional venue, Thai Laong in Newtown. Photos of the night can be

We all had a fun time. No figures were lost in the food, though some food
might have been lost as people were busy sculpting, painting or
glueing! And the suprise ingredient for this year... No Metallic
Paints! That's right. Everyone had to speed paint in NMM!

Congratulations to Ben$quig for winning the trophy! And congratulations to everyone who
came along for some truly bizzare, creative and inspirational
miniatures! The link above has photos along with everyone's
name/nickname.

Also thanks to Games Workshop (for supplying us
miniatures at the last minute!), Matisse Derivan (for all those
paints!) and ASACS (for giving us tools to lick and greenstuff to play
with over food).

Last Friday night we had a gathering at mist7's place along with alasen, meelie and n_i_r_o. The point of the night was to cook stuff, and cook stuff we did! We made some pizza (with delicious home made pizza dough courtesy of Miss alasen) and chocolate muffins. We overcame the lack of kitchen utensils and the backwards oven to have a delicious dinner and dessert. I showed everyone that cutting pizza with scissors is a viable and practical alternative to not having proper knives or a pizza cutter.

And while all of this was happening, we also managed to play Apples to Apples and a big game of Settlers of Catan. meelie managed to win both! Possibly with help from her evil twin ;) Settlers was confusing to setup mainly because we didn't noticed there was a double up of one of the card sheets in the expansion, thus we were left wondering why our map didn't fit together and why we had extra counters :S

Anyway it was a good night, hope we do more cookoffs in the future, and hopefully mist7 ate all the left over food and the floating eggs.

Star Wars Episode VII, VIII and IX

So I got bored. I saw a competition which asked me for my ideal plot for Star Wars Episode VII. It was only meant to be 35 words, but I got carried away Star War'ing plot lines from other movies, originally stemming from a comment I made that you can just replace Indiana Jones with Han Solo, and Nazi with Imperial Stormtrooper, for new Star Wars plots. Hence why the following plot lines center around Han Solo, as I couldn't easily find the back of box synopsis for the Indy films...

So I present to you the plots for Star Wars Episode VII, VIII and IX:

Episode VII: Han Brings It On

The Jedi cheerleading squad from Jedi Academy High School in Yavin 4 has got spirit, spunk, sass and killer routine that's sure to land them the national championship trophy for the sixth year in a row. But for newly-elected team captain Han Solo, the Jedis' road to total cheer glory takes a shady turn when he discovers that their perfectly- choreographed routines were infact stolen from the Sith, a hip-hop squad from the outer rim, by the Jedi's former captain. While the Jedi scramble to come up with a new routine, the Sith, led by their squad captain, Half-reformed Sith Darth Maul, have their own problems - coming up with enough money to cover their travel expenses to the championships. With time running out and the pressure mounting, both captains drive their squads to the point of exhaustion: Solo, hell bent on saving the Jedis' reputation, and Darth Maul more determined than ever to see that the Sith finally get the recognition that they deserve. But only one team can bring home the title, so may the best moves win.

Episode VIII: Han Does Coruscant

Han Solo and his young Jedi Academy friends are faced with a dilemma. Han's vibrant sensuality has earned him a coveted place with the Jedi Academy Cheerleaders. A trip to Coruscant is expensive however, and rebel soldiers don't often have that kind of money. As the action moves to the showers, a plan is formed. The eight dazzling cheerleaders will all go to Coruscant and to afford it, they have formed Jedi Services, an organization dedicated to serving their clients with total satisfaction.... for a price. Profits roll in, but it is Han who really saves the day. His magnificent young figure clad in full Jedi regalia is the embodiment of every Sith's fantasy. To keep the illusion perfect, Half-reformed Sith Darth Maul, felt proprietor of the local Sith goods store, dons his old Sith Robes and indulges in his most carnal fantasies.

Episode IX: Dude, Where's The Millenium Falcon?

After a night they can't remember comes a day they'll never forget. Meet Han Solo and Chewbacca, two daring yet intrepid smugglers who wake up one morning with a burning question: Dude, Where’s the Millenium Falcon? Their only clues are a matchbook cover from The Kinky Twi'lek strip club and a year’s supply of pudding in the fridge. As they retrace their steps, these smugglers are in for the ride of their lives, encountering hot alien chicks, dodging killer wampas, and trying to score “special treats” from their ticked-off Jedi companions.

Today I went down to Electronic Boutique at Broadway to get a pack of Magic cards for the 9th ed league with xfire (to pass the time while waiting for thai food to arrive), and were approaced by a girl who thought she knew him from a few clubs (though xfire's memory of her was a bit hazy, and she thought he was at Necronomicon, which he didn't know what it was).

So she followed us back to uni because she was looking for Sutekh committee members regarding Necronomicon and club membership, and on the way we ran into ranneko and alfredman (whom she seemed to know O_o;;). So we got to the glasshouse (where she recognised Heli as well o_O;;;). Fortunately, Dan showed up at the right time to keep her distracted while xfire and I made a swift escape from the girl who knew everyone and talked a lot, abd we went back to the room where our thai food had arrived a while ago!

So the moral of the story is don't go to Electronic Boutique because it will pass the time faster before thai food arrives!

Today, ammonium and I decided to have bread for lunch.

We went to Bread Top, grabbed a selection of them along with some Easyway and ate it at World Square. Easyway had this tray of sample drinks in tiny disposable cups. While we were waiting for the lady to make our drink, this man in a business suit ran up, put one of the empty cups on the counter from his hand, and then took two filled cups from the tray. He then proceeded to give us a stare of "you should be drinking this free stuff instead!" before dashing off, all without the staff member even noticing him. It was really strange! It was the crazy stare he gave more than anything else.

Easyway also had this special offer where you buy two drinks and (by paying an extra $2) you get a deformed cat. So we did, thought I thought the cat looked more like a chiuhuahua or something.

Afterwards, we bummed around a while in Kinokuniya where we spent ages looking at stationary (why is it so hard to find a good eraser!) and then at the comics and manga. ammonium believes I have the ability to select a random book, and it will turn out to be shounen-ai or yaoi. I put it more to the simple fact that it seems 90% of the manga in Kinokuniya seems to be of that genre anyway, so the laws of probability dictate greater chances of pulling said mangas. Eventually, she decided to trust my random judgement to purchase Desire (sound familiar, Master?). I, on the other hand, decided to purchase Ultimate Spider-man vol. 11 as I was missing about 3 issues from the Carnage story arc.

So as Ammy put it, we went to the city for bread, and came back with yaoi and kitty. I'm going to spam my blacksmith icon now because I want to.

Ebil Ebeninb!

The phrase "Ebil Ebeninb" has a long and illustrious history.

I think it started shortly after the end of the third age, when the evil elf Funevil started making an appearance. Funevil corrupted the common saying of "Good Morrow" or "Good Afternoon", or "Good Evening" to one more sinister, where the word "good" was replaced by that of "evil".

So instead of "Good Afternoon", one would say "Evil Afternoon". Instead of "Good Evening", one would say "Evil Evening". But a few months ago, the gods of literacy and spelling went on a short vacation, leading to a proliferation of typographical errors and typmos.

And hence, one night, the Arrch said to lady Isilme, "Ebil Ebeninb", in a strange mixture of uncoordination and touch typing.

So the phrase "Ebil Ebeninb" was born, and it stayed, because it seemed much funnier and tormented Funevil to no end. And ever since then, people all around have been saying "Ebil Ebeninb", to ward off the mischief caused by Funevil. And also because it confused others who did not understand.

Shakeaway

I feel I owe an entry to the Shakeaway shop I visited when i was in Brighton with aefallen.

At first you think it's a normal candy store with racks upon racks of confectionary, cakes, and other tasty treats. You order what you want (in our case we got Chocolate Chip Muffin), and they throw it in a blender with some milk and ice cream, creating one of the thickest, richest milkshakes I've ever tasted. It's like a whole meal, but drunk through a straw.

Maybe I should try the same one day. Go buy some Mars bars, muffins and ice cream and throw it all into the blender. Telling this tale to nescienx was enough to get her to consider buying a blender! XD

Anyway, on a related note - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is out (finally) in Australia. Go see it. :P
