Interesting times indeed...

Ok, at least for me.
I'm in pain...alot of it actually. Which is very :(
We had an event this past weekend and, since I was helping to run that sucker, I ran everywhere and lifted stuff I shouldn't have.
And I drank...alot. At least I was smart enough, starting Saturday morning, to drink water nearly continuously. Of course Saturday night...back to the drinking. :D
Then we had this storm system from hell. It didn't do much weather-wise. It just hung out over the area and made anyone susceptible to migraines, sinus pressure, and joint pain suffer alot.
By the following Friday, I finally had had enough and went to my doctor. Not too useful of a doctor but nice at least. :/
My original weekend plans were scratched and I "stayed home".

That first Friday...let's just say drinking games made the evening interesting...
Saturday...a fast metabolism means fast drunk. I spilled sake on my hand (repeatedly) and once discovered some unknown dude sucking on my fingers. O.O
So I used another person as a defensive strategy...and spent the rest of the evening with that one. :) TOTALLY not expected...not what I expected.
(I also got a number of compliments on my garb. That's an ego-booster right there. :D )

Since then, I've been immersed in severe joint pain, headache, some stomach illness, and a fugue state. I've also been conversing with some new interesting people since then.
...
I guess when it comes down to it, I'm just not as open online as I used to be.
Beats me why...Have I outgrown it?

My first thought was that adults should not be the recipient of the phrase "Because I said so." Parents are starting to decrease the usage of this phrase on their children for fear of harming their little (for now) egos. But it occurred to me that perhaps it is best to keep on using it, because you're sure as shit gonna hear it as an adult. It may come from a boss, it may come from a someone is a slightly higher position of authority than you in a game of marbles...but at some point you're going to hear it....and you're going to have to just suck it up.

so what's new (over the past few years) with me

dang, this would take a while...

well let's see...

1. school: i graduated in dec. 07 with my history degree and a 3.83 average gaining me a magna cum laude.
i'm trying to go to valdosta state for a library masters degree since work will pay for it.

2. work: i got hired on full time in the magazine dept of the library where i was working as a student. pay is really low, but i work with some awesome people. june of this year will be my 2 year anniversary here.

3. relationship: don't have one. more on that in a mo'.

4. health: the migraines got real bad. have one now. i may have chronic daily migraines, which means i'm sol.

there is a connection between the migraines and the relationship. here it is, in my viewpoint:
1. migraines put a halt to my functionality. can't do shit when your head is on fire every day.
2. alex had to do everything. cooking, cleaning, watching kids (2 of his boys moved in with us), while working and going to school full time.
3. i got afraid to do anything even during the brief times i felt a little better. too afraid to get out of bed. i knew i'd just start hurting again.
4. alex started going out a handful of days a week, leaving me to 'watch' the kids since i was there anyways. as he put it, he felt like a prisoner in his own house.
5. he got a new girlfriend.

5. getting the hell out of dodge: i'm in the process of moving into a new place. i got a 3/2 house a bit south of where i live now. but it needs alot of help. ALOT. lots of cleaning and it has a bug problem. *sigh* so i'm taking care of the cleaning while the landlord takes care of the bugs BEFORE i move.

6. friends: alex WAS my friend. it's hard to make more when you're sick and can't go anywhere. i've tried making a few in the sca and at work, but it seems people are too busy.

7. other small stuff: i do alot more crafting now. especially since i got involved with the sca. dunno if the sca is doing much for me though. i enjoy the large events like gulf wars, but feel blah about everything else. i watch more anime now. i try to get the fansubbed stuff as soon as it rolls out. yay, gray area. nothing like escapism. i still play video games but haven't gotten anything new in quite some time (well i have its just that i bought a couple games for the wii that i no longer own.) i'm now working for my dad on weekends doing yardwork and some car work. the car work is cool, the yardwork i could leave. but i need the money desperately.

thats all i can think of right now. i'm sure i'll find more to gripe about later.

oh yeah...
8. family: my dad is still nuts, but he's helping me out. he thinks my headaches are fake. my mom is still distant, we converse very little. my stepdad is worse than he used to be or maybe i just see now how rotten he really is. avalee is still the star of my universe. she's getting so big now! nearly 10!! she got tonsillitis recently and sharon took her back to the doctor yesterday because she's been acting oddly: tired all the time, headaches, doesn't run around and play after school. i'm really worried.

went to concert last night.

but that might've been desperation after the suckiness of the first band.

she was real easy to look at. butt length strait black hair, pseudo white corset top and rather short pleather skirt. he played straight bass niftily. but the computer is an unforgiving band member. get a band!
unavox had that 'we could possibly be cool in five years with a bit of band rearrangement and demise of the lead singer. lead dude had better stage presence than vm's chick singer and their own chick singer, but seemed to know only one note. agh.

why'd i go?
well, i wasn't dying of headache.
i had seen a brief write up of the bands in the flagpole. 'darkwave' okay.
charles asked if we were going.
the sca meeting ends at 9.
most importantly: i could dress up.
so i did.
corset, lace-cravatted top, strange black skirt-parts, and witch shoes.

TOO EARLY.

i feel rather proud of myself for checking out most of my textbooks from the library. *snicker snicker* i'm not so keen on the "read half of the book" instructions on the syllabus though. not in two days. T_T

i know ONE person in my japanese class. everyone else knows each other. T_T everyone else seems to have studied over the summer too. argh. and during introductions, my dumb ass said "むすめがいます。　ななさいです。(i have a daughter. she's seven.) rather than, わたしもテレビーガームをするのがすきです。(i also like to play video games.) further alienating me from the crowd. T_T. oh the joys of being the oldest student in the room. (i've been the oldest person in the room on occasion.)

not the case in my first class (20th century brit history). an 80 year old woman walked in late.

i escaped the 70s for a few hours yesterday. i helped put newly bound books into the catalog system. yay, book love! :) i also discovered a warren of offices that can only be reached by an elevator that only goes halfway up the building. weird!

weirder yet was my boss looking rather mournful cause no one had come in to open the mail that morning till i arrived at 1120 (before my shift). i looked at the mail boxes and said "it's 845 all over again!" i'm the afternoon person. at least i was. till i looked at the schedule and saw that there's one morning person, alot of workers some days at odd hours in the late morning, and me at noon. ah well. yesterday was my last day to use extra hours. today i am on the govt's pay roll. :p they limit me to 3.5 hours a day. (or more to the point, $3000 a year. *shrugs*) my next paycheck will have all these extra hours. well, more than usual.

so why am i up this fucking EARLY?
8 am class. me stupid.

long weekend. i spent most of it suffering with exhaustion and a migraine. :(
i'll try to go to the clinic soon. finding time is tricky.

i took alex and avalee to ft. desoto. postcard day.
it was fun. and it cost only 75 cents. can't find that in georgia. (.75 from two toll roads.)

two days till doom...i mean, classes.

tuesday i became deputy arts & sciences officer for the local sca group. kinda funny really. mostly chiefs and no indians. :) not that i mind. there's only two offices i'd want to do, and a&s is one of them. i get to make stuff. well, i'd do that anyways, but now i can get other people to make stuff too. that's not any big deal. most everyone here is well known for making stuff. *laughs*

i think i'd be more concerned about 11 missing young men than 11 missing young men of arabic "not that they're terrorists" descent.

sure, i think it's a bit odd and questionable. even if they were say german, i'd be a bit worried. kidnapping one or two, relatively easy. 3 or 4 could get lost, especially from ny to montana. but 11? did a bus get hijacked? i bet the other 6 have been questioned over and over again. no matter what they answer, i'm guessing suspicion is still cast upon them. ugh.

i gotta go get ready for work.

this article at the bbc news website says: "After 16 scheduled missions to complete construction of the $100bn ISS, Nasa plans a 2010 retirement date for the space shuttle fleet." about the need to still transport cargo, "With the shuttles' retirement, that may not be enough. Nasa already is looking into transferring cargo originally earmarked for the shuttle to other carriers, including the ATV, which was designed to dock at the station's Russian ports."

anyway, it goes on at length about nasa using foreign and commercial vehicles.

bbc didn't mention that nasa is pasturing the shuttles for the ares rockets. nasa writes, "NASA announced on Friday the names of the next generation of launch vehicles that will return humans to the moon and later take them to Mars and other destinations. The crew launch vehicle will be called Ares I, and the cargo launch vehicle will be known as Ares V."

i think i'll start a knitting class next month at the watkinsville yarn shop (of awesomeness).

i would like to get roller skates. riedell carreras probably. roller skates are EXPENSIVE! i had no idea. :( i'll use ebay.

with everything going on, she's not gotten much sleep...so she's a real pain. she fell asleep around 5 today. i got her up to eat dinner. now she's in bed.

i'm gonna help alex with research cause i'm good at that shit. :)

then it's quality time with final fantasy 7. (i'm in charge of running around in circles and leveling up.)

i'm thinking about getting back into online rp. been a while. a LONG while. we'll see.

i'm thinking of taking some sewing classes. begin at the beginning and all that. tomorrow i go over to katrina's house for a sewing workshop. ashley wants to draft a pattern for a tudor corset. maybe i can learn to draft patterns from katrina. but damn, that woman really irritates me somehow.
