Did exactly what I needed it to do.

I had a scanned file in PDF form that I wanted to convert into searchable text. Simple, right? Apparently not. The document was too large for most online services, and those that would accept the size of the document were painfully slow (to the point I wasn’t even sure they were working). Adobe Acrobat Reader has this feature, except it requires a full subscriptioe and I don’t want to pay for an entire subscription service just for this single document. So I decided to try the app store. It seemed most other apps that would accomplish this task are paid apps only. At first I overlooked this one because it didn’t have enough ratings to display anything under its icon in the app store. Out of desperation, I guess, I eventually clicked on it for more info. Sounded primising. So I downloaded it and gave it a shot. It worked *beautifully*. I am so glad I came across this app. And it’s FREE. Would recommend. 5/5.

It’s a free app, so expectations should be low; many on the Mac app store charge quite a bit for OCR functionalty. The scanner works perfectly using the standard MacOS scanner interface. The OCR works fast, but as the developer notes, it may choke on some large files - I tried to OCR a 57 page PDF. What impressed me most was a scan of a rumpled receipt that I did to test other OCR programs. This app recognized far more of it than the other ones I tried. It also did a great job with a short scanned letter. Highly recommend for simple scanning and OCR. Also glad to see this free app doesn’t require Catalina.

This is the fifth OCR program I downloaded from App Store today. I had a typed 96 page PDSF document to convert. This is the only program that finally worked. Really great accuracy. I was satisfied enough to buy the Pro version. No complaints so far. Thanks for helping me get my work done.
Essential App for Making Searchable PDFs

After getting my Epson GT-S80 scanner to work with my MacBook Pro, I discovered the Epson software didn't have OCR. Tried PDFify and made my scanned PDFs searchable in a few minutes. Stunning performance on big files (100 pages of scanned text) at no cost! Also very nice conversion of Apple mail messages to pretty PDFs!
