ApolloOne Überblick

Like many others I am an ex-Lightroom user looking for an alternative to Adobe. I never much used the image-editing features of LR, so I was looking for something fast and streamlined, without a catalogue, that integrates well with Finder. I tried many. I liked Lyn but it was too slow. I like Graphic Converter and still use it, but the browser is too cumbersome. I even bought a license for Exposure X7, but ApolloOne has the edge in speed and simplicity, and being Mac-only gives it an advantage in streamlined coding. There are plenty of pro features, such as the neat handling of RAW files and ultra-sophisticated renaming. I keep finding new features and the developer is very responsive which makes a lovely change from Adobe. This app just has that elusive nice-to-use quality that I value so much in software. As for the pricing discussed below, there is now “perpetual” purchase, and compared to anything in the same ballpark it is a snip.

I downloaded the free version because Bridge was full of errors and would not work properly on my M1 Mac. So I downloaded this. It certainly seemed a good alternative to Bridge and has a lot of potential but it is full of bugs. It locks up constantly when there are too many images in a folder, and when you delete an image during slideshow, the slideshow doesn't refresh properly and shows a random photo beneath all the other photos. it pests you constantly to pay for it, the menus are confusing and it repeatedly locks up. And the developers have the nerve to use a subscription for payment! Come off it. Who would pay by the month for this junk?

I liked it at one point, but when it stopped working because I hadn't paid, I stopped using it. I only wanted a slideshow app, and there are others just as capable without the cost. Bye-bye.

Going to subscription only shows what the developer thinks about their customers. Easy cash cows! Reason enough to look elsewhere.

ApolloOne is now subscription so I found another app to use ApolloOne was a little buggy and slow anyway so no big loss.

I'm dubious. I've been using Lyn for so long. Not having to bother with Photos or Preview, Lyn accesses all folders and all mounted volumes. The corrections are rudimentary, but useful. It's an app I gave my wife to use to organize and populate a folder for a 1 hour presentation. At $20, it's a bargain. Try it out.
No connections to Lyn developer. Just a satisfied user.
