There is about 1 hour and 35 minutes remaining until the deadline. Am I going to be a time nazi and sit at the computer and as soon as the time reaches 8pm est, default everyone who hasn't uploaded a story? No. I will say that I am going to check when I get up in the morning and if I haven't heard from you, you will be defaulted. If you end up finishing your story you are welcome to upload it to the group and your recipient will just end up with an extra story.

Apocalyptothon check in

Just checking in to see how things are going. I hope everyone is hard at work on their story or their art since the deadline is just 2 weeks away! If you are going to have to default, please do so sooner rather than later. It gives the pinch hitters more time to write/draw/create. I just sent 2 pinch hits out to the group.

Also you should be able to see all the sign ups in case you feel like writing an Apocalyptothon Madness story. You can write something for that even if you didn't sign up for the main gift exchange.

Also, there are three pinch hits I just sent to the google group. The sooner they are claimed, the more time the person has to write the story/draw the art.

And lastly, following in the footsteps of yuletide and npt (not prime time), we will have an Apocalyptothon Madness Collection. It will open Tuesday night and will be a collection for treats consisting of stories under 1000 words, icons, and smaller artwork. Anyone is welcome to post to the Madness collection regardless of whether they signed up for the main exchange this year.

Sign Ups open tomorrow (May 4th) at 5am EST. They close at 9pm EST on Friday, May 15th. Stories will be due on July 22nd. All the dates can be found on the profile page HERE.

A whopping 201 fandoms made the cut! There should be plenty for both writers and artists to choose from.

How the art/stories requesting/offering works: When you go to sign up, there will be a space for "Optional Tags". Here is where you will insert "fanfiction" if you want a story, and "fanart" if you want artwork. If you want either one, then put both tags. You have that option for both your requests and your offers.

OMG Nomination time!

Before you head over to AO3 to nominate fandoms, one big change from last year: ARTWORK WILL BE ALLOWED THIS YEAR. When signups open, you will have the option to specify whether you'd like to offer fiction or art or both, and whether you'd like to receive fiction or art or both, for each of your requests/offers. More on that later.

But now.... Nominations are officially open! You have until midnight EST on Friday, May 1st, to nominate up to ten fandoms you would like to read/write/illustrate this year. (Signups start May 4th.)

A few notes:

1. Please try to avoid fandoms which are already post-apocalyptic. However, if they are already post-apocalyptic, any story/artwork featuring that fandom may feature any apocalypse EXCEPT the canonical end of the world.

2. Nominating fandoms does not obligate you to participate in the ficathon. Even if you don't plan on writing, feel free to suggest things you'd like to read.

3. You do not have to nominate ten fandoms - ten is just the maximum.

4. Anything goes - movies, books, TV shows, comics, songs, etc. Start typing in the fandom and please use AO3's canonical tags.

Hello Apocalyptothon fans!

Based on feedback from last year, we'll be starting our rampage of destruction a little earlier this year. And of course we will be using Archive of Our Own again.

We won't start with fandom nominations until next week (April 13th). I'll do an official fandoms-related post this weekend, and also send out information about pinch hitting. Meanwhile, if you need an AO3 account, let me know.

Also, based on feedback, I'm looking at possibly opening it up to artwork as well as written stories. More on that later.
