This phenomenon is link rot, or more broadly, digital decay. This isn't a future problem. It's happening right now, steadily and without fanfare. Pages disappear when servers go offline. Domains expire and get squatted. Companies fold and take their entire archives with them.

Grimsby Mountain Bikers Wednesday Night Ride 22/04/26
Cycled for 1 hour 44 minutes on 22nd April 2026.
There were lots of people out for this evening ride, and it was my first group mountain bike ride of the year. It was the first time I had ridden with the group from Laceby since the pub reopened, which meant I could just ride to and from home. The route followed many of the paths I already knew, through Irby Dale and the singletrack through Swallow Vale. We took the road from Swallow to Cuxwold before fireroads and fields wound past Beelsby, through to Irby, and down Scrub Holt. I got home with 60% battery.
