Leading-edge researchers, like Mike Frank, and dedicated technologists with a wealth of experience, like Art Scott, represent a new vanguard of the leap-forward beyond Dennard scaling and Landauer's limit. Art looks for ways to reduce energy consumption and Mike looks for ways to \"architect\" future chips according to principles of reversibility. Is the future in reversible, adiabatic computing and simpler architectures using posit arithmetic? My guests think so.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3140589","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2017,9,27]],"date-time":"2017-09-27T12:33:53Z","timestamp":1506515633000},"page":"1-17","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":4,"title":["Art Scott and Michael Frank on energy-efficient computing"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"2017","author":[{"given":"Ted G.","family":"Lewis","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2017,9,26]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/ISSOC.2007.4427442"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_3_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","unstructured":"Anantha Lakshmi A.
