Day 1: Yellow Rage, spoken word
So what you try dim sum and then some on the menu? So what you a fan of Lucy Liu? So what you read the Joy Luck Club, too? That makes you an expert on how I should look? Fuck you. What the fuck do you know about being Asian?
Not much, I hear you. I love these two women so much.
Day 2: Saving Face, movie
What if, while struggling to balance your desires with your family's expectations, you discovered your mother was doing the exact same thing? My favorite lesbian movie.
Day 3: Yum Yum Dim Sum children's board book
Who can help loving a book with the winning passage: Why, oh why, my little siu mai, why do I love you so?
Day 4: Angel Island, an actual place to visit, but also some links to Angel Island poetry and information about Asian immigration though San Francisco
Day 5: Shopping for Fangs, movie
One Filipino werewolf, one Vietnamese immigrant suffering from mysterious blackouts, and one crime-fighting lesbian waitress. Forget polite Asian boys and shy Asian girls! I love this bizarre take on the LA APA experience.
Day 6: Birth of a nASIAN, character sketches/music performance
Rice Rice Baby! This duo is so funny.
Day 7: Angry Little Asian Girl, comic
Shortest temper on earth! Angry since birth! The angry little Asian girl doesn't do laundry! You've gotta love the acid-tongued Kim.
