My fourth J2 Reverse Bang in a row. Thank you, dear moderators, for organizing this wonderful challenge again in 2025.
I was very happy that the great author AmyPond45 claimed my artwork. Vampire Jared inspired her to write her wonderful story Vampire. The classic Dracula novel in a completely new interpretation. Away from garlic and holy water, toward a modern J2 vampire world.

"It was Jared. Not that Jensen could be sure by the way the vampire looked. Its face was contorted into a hideous, inhuman visage with a wide mouth full of sharp, protruding teeth that basically eclipsed the rest of its facial features except for its glowing red eyes. The vampire’s face was covered in its victim’s blood, as if it had bitten a major artery and then smeared its entire face in the blood. Its nose was nothing but two slitted nostrils, its ears pointed out from its head at a dramatic right angle, its chin unnaturally pointed."

Art Description: Jared is a vampire, rich, powerful and irresistibly attractive. Jensen can resist vampires. But he hides this ability to avoid being targeted by the vampires. Jared has had his eye on Jensen for some time, but he keeps giving him the slip. A game of cat and mouse begins. Vampires can only reveal their true selves once a year and the highlight of every Halloween night is Jared's glamorous high-society costume party, which is organized by a well-known event agency. This time, Jared insists that their employee, event manager Jensen, is his contact for the planning and organization.

I really wanted to draw Jared in a Dracula costume for the J2RB2025. So I did some research and gathered inspiration. Bela Lugosi was a good role model with his cape, tailcoat, dress shirt, and medallion. I added a castle window with a night sky as the background. Then I came up with a little story to inspire my muse. I used the summary for the later art description.

First, I sketched Jared in a Dracula costume and adjusted the shape of the collar. Then I thought about how I should design the castle window—slanted and shadowy or straight and structured—chose the right font, and tested the colors. The red was important to me. It should be reminiscent of blood.

Based on the finished sketch, I created a final, clean line graphic and defined the basic colors. Then I designed the image with shading and textures, adding stars and titles.

Bela Lugosi wore a mysterious decorative medallion in the 1931 film “Dracula.” This prop was later lost and has only recently been elaborately recreated as an official replica. I found the famous medallion so beautiful and fitting (sun and moon united—opposites like vampire Jared and hunter Jensen) that I traced it in detail for Jared's costume.

AmyPond45 described vampire Jared so fantastically that I absolutely wanted to draw him. First, I sketched Jared and tested dark colors, red eyes, and blood. He looked very diabolical.

To make the finished picture more lively, I chose an asymmetrical motif. Jared holds his head at an angle. His left ear is covered by his hair. To illustrate the dramatic transformation, I first drew Jared as a human. From this, I developed Jared as a vampire. Similar to “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.” Some of Jared's features, such as the shape of his eyes, eyebrows, hair, and upper body, remained the same.

Then I sketched vampire Jared and turned it into a final drawing. Pointed chin, large mouth with lots of sharp teeth, flat nose, protruding ears, and wild strands of hair covering his face. Then I colored the picture and added glowing red eyes with dark circles and lots of blood.

Vampires and bats simply belong together. Both are nocturnal, avoid sunlight, and drink blood. The wings of a bat are also very reminiscent of the black cape worn by a classic vampire. So I designed the dividers with the medallion and bats.

This time it was different. No ideas in advance. I just really wanted to read this story because the summary promised a great read. Fortunately, I was able to claim it. After reading it, I was totally thrilled. My muse now had so many ideas. It was about separation, pregnancy and a happy reunion. In the end, I wanted the cover to reflect the theme of separation. A torn photo of a once happy couple says it all. The relationship is over, they are going their separate ways. So I created three images: a happy couple, a separated couple and a reunited couple. Pregnancy and parenthood are symbolized by the pacifier and pacifier chain. And the highlight of the reunion is a baby together with Jensen's green eyes and Jared's birthmark and hair.
It's a feel-good story - funny, happy, light. So I chose the comic style for the artwork with warm cheerful colors. Of course, as always, everything was hand-drawn with Procreate. I love this program.

First I sketched out my ideas in order to visualize them. What should be on the cover? J2 with separation flash and baby? Torn photo, pacifier, baby drinking bottle, broken hearts? The cover shouldn't give too much away, but it should arouse the reader's interest. So I decided on the torn photo without hearts.

The first idea was a torn Polaroid photo with a thick white bottom border, which I wanted to use to name the author and artist. But then the main characters would be very small on the cover. So a “normal” photo with a white border would be better. The idea with the three photos also looked good on the paper. And a baby picture as a bonus.

So I needed a “photo” of Jensen and Jared smiling happily into the camera. They are both leaning their heads towards each other. Their hair and shoulders are touching. I started to draw, adjusting the proportions and scale. Suits were too stiff and formal. Shirts with an open neckline were more appropriate and casual.

Now I created the final artwork with sharp, clear contours in a realistic comic style. The most time-consuming part was again the hair. Whether short or long, it was a Sisyphean task. The snapshot was supposed to show a happy J2 couple in love. The photo should be radiant. So I tested bright, vibrant colors, pastel shades for the shirts and various azure blues for the sky. In the end, I colored the picture, adding color nuances and shading. Of course, Jensen's (nose bump, freckles) and Jared's (birthmark, brown hair) trademarks couldn't be missing.

Have you ever torn photos? They do not tear smoothly. The edge of the tear is uneven. On one half of the photo there is usually a white edge from the bottom layer of paper, on the other half there is only tiny damage. This is why the tear edge remains visible when the photos are glued back together. I designed the tear so that each J2 has a lock of the other's hair on their half of the photo. Each retains a piece of the former partner.

The three photos still needed a nice background. I imagined a table, sideboard or side table with a wood grain on which the photo would lie. So I tried to draw a wooden surface in comic style. First I designed the wood grain, then I colored it with different wood tones. Finally, I added light and shadow to create a little 3D effect to increase the depth. I also drew the background large enough so that I could use six different image sections for the photos as well as for the cover and banner.

Rainbow. The idea came to me spontaneously when I thought of bright, friendly colors. Rainbows can often be found in children's rooms. They have also been an important religious symbol for thousands of years. A rainbow is a symbol of hope, peace and diversity. In the mythologies of the world, it is the connection between earth and sky, people and gods. The rainbow flag also stands for the diversity of gays and lesbians all over the world. In the original eight-color version from 1978, pink stands for sexuality, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for the sun, green for nature, turquoise for art, blue for harmony and purple for the soul.
A rainbow “only” has seven colors. But as the story contains nine chapters, I added pink and light green. I chose pastel colors to match the plot and the “photo”. For the cover and the chapter headings, I found a humorous font that also goes well with the comic style. The story is about the desire to have a baby, pregnancy and the birth of a baby. All of this is symbolized by the pacifier.

Of course, a pacifier also needs a pacifier chain, which is ideal as a divider. I colored the individual pacifier chains to match the chapter headings. Once in shades of a single color and once in rainbow colors.

To top it all off, I drew a picture of baby Aaron. He has inherited Jensen's green eyes and freckles and Jared's birthmark and brown hair.
Babies are rarely born with freckles. They only form over time when the skin comes into contact with UV radiation. This is why the cute spots are usually found in the middle of the face and on the shoulders and forearms in the first few years of life. Baby Aaron is the exception to the rule and was born with freckles, especially on his face. A little artistic license because it fits in well with the story.
I also picked up on the rainbow theme again for this picture. The stars on the baby blanket are drawn in the same nine colors as the chapter headings. The sky with the white clouds in the window is also similar to the background in the J2 photo. So everything fits together nicely and I have achieved my goal of creating a uniform art set.

I like cemeteries with old graves and ivy. When I reread GRAVE SIGHT, my muse suddenly had lots of ideas for a cover. The theme of the story was a perfect match for my love of cemeteries and I enjoyed drawing covers, banners and dividers. I tried out two art styles - silhouettes and semi-realism.

Ich mag Friedhöfe mit alten Gräbern und Efeu. Als ich GRAVE SIGHT erneut las, hatte meine Muse plötzlich ganz viele Ideen für ein Cover. Das Thema der Geschichte passte hervorragend zu meiner Friedhofsvorliebe und ich zeichnete mit großer Freude Cover, Banner und Teiler. Dabei probierte ich zwei Kunststile aus - Silhouetten und Semirealismus.

First of all, I looked at lots of old gravestones in cemeteries on the Internet and was inspired by their shapes. For the first covers and banners, I drew the silhouette of an old cemetery with sloping or sunken gravestones and crooked cast-iron grave borders.

Zuerst schaute ich mir jede Menge alte Grabsteine auf Friedhöfen im Internet an und ließ mich von ihren Formen inspirieren. Für die ersten Cover und Banner zeichnete ich die Silhouette eines alten Friedhofs mit schrägen oder schon eingesunken Grabsteinen sowie schiefen gusseisernen Grabumrandungen.

The creepy effect is provided by the skeleton six feet below - once abstract or in a coffin-sized cavity with roots on the ceiling. The cover and banner are available in black and white and in bright shades of green to reflect the atmosphere of an eerily beautiful dusk.

Für den Gruseleffekt sorgt das sechs Fuß darunter liegende Skelett - einmal abstrakt beziehungsweise in einem sarggroßen Hohlraum mit Wurzeln an der Decke. Cover und Banner gibt es in Schwarz-weiß sowie in leuchtenden Grüntönen, welche die Atmosphäre einer schaurig schönen Abenddämmerung widerspiegeln sollen.

For the semi-realistic cover, I searched for old grave symbols and inscriptions and researched their meaning. Very popular symbols were skulls, often with crossed bones, and hourglasses (hourglasses) in the sense of "Memento Mori" ("Remember your death"). The skull is a very old symbol of death and human mortality. The hourglass symbolizes the flow of time and limited earthly life. Together they are intended to remind us of the transience of life and the need to enjoy and appreciate life.

Für das semireale Cover suchte ich nach alten Grabsymbolen und Inschriften und recherchierte ihre Bedeutung. Sehr beliebte Symbole waren Totenschädel, oft mit gekreuzten Knochen, und Stundenglas (Sanduhr) im Sinne von "Memento Mori" ("Denk an deinen Tod"). Der Totenkopf ist ein sehr altes Symbol für den Tod und die Sterblichkeit des Menschen. Die Sanduhr symbolisiert die fließende Zeit sowie das begrenzte irdische Leben. Zusammen sollen sie an die Vergänglichkeit des Lebens und die Notwendigkeit, das Leben zu genießen und zu schätzen, erinnern.

For the second cover, I drew an imposing old gravestone. Its surface is dark and weathered. But the ornaments, skull, bones and hourglass are still well preserved.

Für das zweite Cover zeichnete ich einen imposanten alten Grabstein. Seine Oberfläche ist dunkel und verwittert. Aber Ornamente sowie Totenschädel, Knochen und Stundenglas sind noch gut erhalten.

Ivy growth is also part of an eerily beautiful grave. Ivy with its evergreen leaves symbolizes vitality, immortality and loyalty. This is why graves are decorated with fresh ivy and gravestones are adorned with it.
Ivy can be found in Egyptian, Greek and Roman mythology. Osiris, Dionysus and Bacchus were depicted with ivy. The plant has healing powers and can live for 450 years. So I drew two bushy ivy shoots growing elegantly up the gravestone.

Zu einem schaurig-schönen Grab gehört auch Efeu-Bewuchs. Der Efeu mit seinen immergrünen Blättern symbolisiert Lebenskraft, Unsterblichkeit und Treue. Deshalb werden sowohl Gräber mit frischem Efeu geschmückt, als auch Grabsteine damit verziert.
Efeu kommt schon in der ägyptischen, griechischen und römischen Mythologie vor. Osiris, Dionysos und Bacchus wurden mit Efeu dargestellt. Die Pflanze hat Heilkräfte und kann 450 Jahre alt werden. Also zeichnete ich zwei buschige Efeu-Triebe, die elegant am Grabstein hochranken.

I actually wanted to design the covers with neutral motifs. But there are also many gravestones with reliefs of the deceased. So I came up with the idea of designing the heads of Will and Hannibal as reliefs. In the story, they circle each other carefully, never letting their guard down. That's why they look in opposite directions on the gravestone, like opponents back to back in a duel.

Eigentlich wollte ich die Cover mit neutralen Motiven gestalten. Aber es gibt auch viele Grabsteine mit Reliefen der Verstorbenen. So kam ich auf die Idee, die Köpfe von Will und Hannibal als Relief zu gestalten. In der Geschichte umkreisen sie sich vorsichtig, lassen ihre Deckung nie fallen. Deshalb schauen sie auf dem Grabstein in entgegengesetzte Richtungen, ähnlich wie die Gegner Rücken an Rücken bei einem Duell.

Choosing a suitable font for the title is very important for a cover. For the cemetery cover, I chose a playful bold font with uneven rounded letters, which fits well with the theme of ghosts in cemeteries. The inscriptions on old gravestones were mostly in Fraktur (broken script). The curves and pronounced strokes of Fraktur gave the gravestones a more formal and traditional appearance. Therefore, a modern Fraktur font was a perfect fit for the gravestone cover. It has a slightly swirling effect and is reminiscent of spirits rising from graves.

Sehr wichtig für ein Cover ist die Auswahl einer passenden Schriftart für den Titel. Für das Friedhof-Cover wählte ich eine verspielte fette Schriftart mit ungleichen abgerundeten Buchstaben, welche gut zum Thema Geister auf Friedhöfen passt. Die Inschriften auf alten Grabsteinen waren meistens in Fraktur-Schrift (gebrochene Schrift). Die Kurven und ausgeprägten Striche der Fraktur verliehen den Grabsteinen einen formelleren und traditionelleren Anschein. Daher passte eine moderne Fraktur-Schrift wunderbar zum Grabstein-Cover. Diese wirkt leicht wabernd und erinnert an aus Gräbern aufsteigende Geister.

Paragraph dividers should be unobtrusive and fit in with the story and the art, framing them. Here I used the gravestones and grave borders already used on the cover and added skulls, hourglasses and titles to break things up. Everything is in silhouette style - plain, simple, black and white and at the same time elegant and stylish. A skeleton also works well as a divider for this morbid story.

At the very first SamWin JarPad Big Bang event, the tenth summary immediately caught my eye. Jared is suspected of murder and years later he is still the prime suspect. Even if the new detective has his doubts. My muse was bursting with ideas and I was overjoyed when I was able to claim HAZARD by TammyRenH.
She wrote an exciting and wonderful crime story with Jared at the center, for which I was allowed to create art. Thank you for the great collaboration, TammyRenH. 💚 Enjoy looking at the art and reading the story.

I was curious about the first ever SamWin JarPad Big Bang, which covers both SPN and SPN RPF and centers on Sam Winchester and/or Jared Padalecki. I immediately liked number 10 Hazard. Murder, suspects, pursuit and an innocent Jared. My muse had lots of ideas for this one. A short time later, I had successfully claimed Prompt 10.

Then I read the story and was totally thrilled.
I quickly grabbed a small notepad to jot down my initial ideas. Dark cover. Murder, night, lake, floater, murder suspect Jared, fingerprints. At the beginning the story is very dark and oppressive for Jared, which continues in his further development (prison). TammyRenH's suggestions - Jensen interrogating Jared in an interrogation room and Jared at Mary's grave - could be depicted well in pictures. Fingerprints and distinctive fonts would complete the art set in chapter headings and text dividers.

TammyRenH has chosen a very fitting title for her story. HAZARD is a catchy, short title consisting of just one word. It is easy to remember, indicates the location of the action and simply stands out. I was able to use it to design the cover very well. Plenty of space for art alongside an easy-to-read title with the author and artist's name.
I always look for a suitable font when designing art for a story.
I tried out several variations. TammyRenH and I decided on the last red lettering in uppercase. With the uneven edges, the lettering embodies uncertainty, fear and wavering emotions as well as sloppy police work. No one is safe, especially not Jared.
Red is associated with danger and death and immediately catches the eye. The font color is not blood red because Mary's murder was bloodless.

The patrol car pulls to a stop and a few seconds later Jared’s door is pulled open. Jared steps out of the patrol car, his legs complaining about being so cramped. They’re parked in the grass just outside the line of trees that almost fully surround the lake. He’s never been out here this late at night. The trees cast shadows that seem somehow kind of ominous. Jared shivers.

The path around the lake is smooth for a while, worn by thousands of visitors to the lake over who knows how many years. But as they make their way further around the lake, the path gets rockier and covered with branches and roots of trees. The path is uphill, so the lake becomes farther away the farther they walk. Very few people walk this far, which is why this is Mary’s and his place.
They reach near the top of the hill and Jared points to a large willow tree close to the edge. This is where they go to be alone. In the summer, they are practically hidden by the leaves on the low-hanging branches. But when they emerge from their cocoon, they have a beautiful view of the lake, shimmering in all her glory several feet below them.

I was inspired by TammyRenH's descriptions for the cover. It is night. Clear as a star. The patrol cars are parked in the grass in front of the row of trees. The trees cast menacing shadows. Only after a long walk around the lake do the police officers and emergency services arrive at Jared and Mary's secret meeting place. From up there, they have a wonderful view of the shimmering lake ... and the corpse dimly lit by the moonlight.
The outline drawing above shows Jared and Jensen at their first meeting. Both are young, Jared is depressed by the traumatic course of his life.
I tested different shades of dark blue, harmonizing red and blue with the police car lights.
It's a Sam/Jared centered big bang. That's why Jared is bigger on the cover with a brighter color in the foreground.

Now I drew everything exactly. I chose the colors based on the following considerations and the previous color sketch. It's a crime story with murder and false accusations that continue into the present. I therefore kept the entire picture in dark shades of blue. The crime scene with the corpse can be seen at the bottom. Police cars are parked on the opposite shore with flashing blue and red lights, as the crime scene can only be reached by walking halfway around the lake. The title HAZARD divides the picture into two different scenes. It is arranged in red capital letters and a striking font almost in the middle. The fingerprint and Jared are in light blue. Jensen's outline is mid-blue (in the “shadow”), as he does not fully act until later in the story. The stars shine above the lake.
Then there was a problem with the corpse. Unlike in the draft, I had to turn the corpse from its back to its stomach. Because Mary could have been mistaken for a night swimmer beforehand. The scene on the cover didn't look like a gruesome corpse discovery. Now the woman's body is immediately recognizable as a corpse. The head is underwater, the hair (wet blonde hair is dark at night) floats around it, the limbs are limp, the black and pink plaid dress (wet fabric is also dark at night at a distance) floats on the waves.
The scene on the cover is now coherent and reflects the atmosphere of a crime story.

In this scene, the focus is on Jensen. Jared, seen from behind, tells his story. Jensen listens to him attentively and takes notes. His attitude is open. He doubts Jared's guilt.

This image made me think of an interrogation room with gray, tiled walls and a gray-blue door. This dreary, cold interrogation room was meant to reflect the negative atmosphere of police interrogations and Jared's own bad experiences in this place.
Is Jensen Jared's knight in shining armor? In any case, he is wearing a cream-colored shirt and a golden-brown jacket. The bright, warm colors make him look friendly.
Jared, on the other hand, wears a red shirt with narrow white stripes. His clothing is associated with danger and guilt. But it's also a normal work shirt, because Jared works as a cabinetmaker.

The fingerprint on the cover gave me the idea of using cut-outs from fingerprint cards for the dividers. One for the left hand and one for the right hand. That would go well with the story and round off the art set.

I needed ten different fingerprints for the cover as well as for the dividers and later for the fingerprint card. Pure hard work with black drawing paint. Then I colored them light blue for the cover and the chapter headings. I imitated different print thicknesses and stamp colors for the fingerprints on the card.

When drawing the fingerprint for the cover, I had the idea of also designing Jared's fingerprint card from his police file. Fingerprints represent crime, perpetrators, murder, police files and investigations. I looked at lots of references on the Internet and finally designed a fictitious card with Jared's details and fingerprints. The paper is already a bit yellowed, but everything is still clearly recognizable when Jensen reads his file.

The color scheme of the cover focuses on the colors light blue and red as well as dark shades of blue. I also used these colors for the chapter headings. The striking red font was also used again here, as well as the light blue fingerprint. The dark blue numbers are held in place by a staple, as is often used in police files. The whole thing is underlaid with a somewhat blurred blank fingerprint card. All in keeping with the overall concept.

In this picture, the focus is on Jared and the rose. Jared has finally been able to come to terms with his past and can now visit Mary's grave. Mary loved the color pink. That's why Jared has put on a white and pink striped shirt and brought a pink rose for her gravestone.
He says goodbye. The sun is shining. It is peaceful. Everything is finally going to be okay.

The background colors, the grey of the gravestones and Jared's jacket are kept in calm tones. Only the pink shirt and the rose stand out and automatically draw the viewer's attention to Jared. The button placket of Jared's shirt is not quite straight, his shirt and jacket collars are slightly askew and his hair is disheveled. This makes Jared look alive amidst the gravestones.

For the pre-announcement on Tumblr by the mods, I designed three square title cards in addition to the cover. They weren't supposed to give too much away and arouse the curiosity of Tumblr visitors. A banner was also added at the end of the SWJP BB.

I was delighted when Masoena claimed my artwork. Warlock Jared had thrilled her and inspired her magical love story “WARLOCK”. Art Description: Private detective Jensen comes to town to investigate a missing person case. He also questions the local warlock Jared in his store. Jensen doesn't think much of witchcraft and categorically rejects Jared's advances. Jensen has no idea how powerful Jared really is and that he cannot escape him. A spell circle keeps Jensen trapped in the city and all roads lead into Jared's arms.

I started drawing this picture back in February, right after the announcement of J2RB2024 at the end of January. I'm fascinated by stories with a powerful warlock Jared, who wants to win Jensen over. So I came up with a rough plot and pulled out my Apple Pencil.

I envisioned a Jared with magical eyes, longer hair held together and dark clothes. I first made a rough sketch and tested the colors. Then I drew the outline of Warlock Jared again, improving the mouth, eyebrows, ear and shoulder. Finally, I added colors, shading and a three-day beard.

A magical or demonic warlock? I tried a green and a red version of Jared. I usually associate magic with natural spiritual customs, original traditions and natural religions, as well as occultism, protective spells, rituals and potions. In other words, rather friendly “natural” magic, which is what the color green stands for. Demons are usually evil, destructive, sinister, devilish, diabolical or satanic. Red is the color of fire and blood. Hell and demons, devils or Satan are often depicted in red in iconography as well as in popular culture. Satan usually wears a red costume. Today, the devil in red has become a popular figure in legends, stories and films. So the color red goes very well with a demonic “evil” warlock. I liked Jared better in green. That's why I submitted this drawing to the J2 Reverse Bang. The color green runs through all the pictures, so together they make a unified art set.

The pentagram (ancient Greek: pentágrammos “five lines”) is one of the best-known symbols associated with witchcraft. The five-pointed star, often surrounded by a circle, has been used for centuries. Its roots go back to 3,000 years before Christ, where it appeared on royal inscriptions and everyday objects in ancient Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt. The pentagram is therefore one of the oldest symbols of power and protection in human cultural history. In modern witchcraft, the points of the pentagon (also known as the five-pointed star, Druid's foot, Druid's star, pentacle, pentalpha) correspond to the elements of earth, air, fire, water and spirit, expressing the connection with nature and the universe. The surrounding circle symbolizes unity and protection. Spell circles are Jared's specialty. So I decorated the background with a spell circle in the shape of a pentagram, which contains symbols from Supernatural. I designed it to look as if it had been drawn by Jared himself with an old brush or his fingers during one of his magical rituals.

I took up the theme of the spell circle again for the text dividers and combined it with the Supernatural logo. To make the dividers different, I colored the pentagram or logos with the green of the headings.

The very first words of the story inspired my muse. I love nostalgic store signs.

Jared knew the type before they even entered his small hole-in-the-wall store on Main Street in the Houston Museum District. It was aptly named Stones, Sticks and Magic Tricks , a retail space that sold “magic” to curious locals and visiting tourists alike.
The aspect most of his clientele never knew, however, was that Jared was the real deal; an actual warlock who could wield magic to do a great many amazing, helpful, healing, and awful things. The trinkets, potions, wands, and artifacts he sold in his store were mostly knock-offs, the crystals and polished rocks on one side of the store the most genuine of all items.

So I drew a cast iron bracket with decorative elements. I hung a black ebony sign with a green border on it.
In addition to the green title of the store, I also used typical witch symbols as decoration, which go down well with local customers and tourists. Animals play an important role in witchcraft symbolism. Black cats are often associated with protection and luck. The pentagram is self-explanatory, as are mortars and pestles and witches' bottles containing magical liquid, poison or love potions. Stars and glitter symbolize magic. Everything matches the overall concept with the color green.

In retrospect, the font of my prompt looked too military to me. So I reworked the letters again. I used the same font, but now I wanted to make it even more magical. To do this, I put several layers of words in different shades of green on top of each other and moved some of them down or to the side. I hatched the top layer irregularly with the eraser. Finally, I added some magic glitter. This green lettering can be seen on almost all the pictures and contributes to the overall uniform concept.

Masoena had the funny idea that Jensen drives a metallic blue Impala. Jared is horrified by this “shameful” color and later paints the beautiful classic car black. My muse jumped for joy. Jensen in a light blue Impala - a picture to make me smile. So I researched blue Chevy Impalas. And indeed - they really did and do exist.

He saw a gorgeous blue metallic 67’ Chevy Impala pull up to this store and park in one of the two designated customer parking spots. The classic vehicle was polished to perfection with a chrome line down the side. Getting out of the car was one of the most handsome men he’d ever seen. His mood however took a turn for the worse as he watched him round the hood of the car. He couldn’t stand his type no matter how utterly fuckable he may look, he could spot a former cop blindfolded and with his hands tied behind his back.

Now I was looking for a pose that would show Jensen and the blue Impala to their best advantage. I drew Jensen in a black leather jacket, driving through a green landscape with the side windows open. The metallic blue color of the Impala with all its shades is clearly visible. First I sketched the contours and tested the color selection. Then I colored the Impala and finally Jensen.

J2 Reverse Bang 2024 - Original prompt - Prompt 10

Art Description: Architect Jensen is commissioned to plan a luxury residential area on the outskirts of the city. A large part of a very old forest has to be cut down for this. But that's where the problems begin - flooding, insect infestations, rampant plants, pesky animals, heat and cold. The clearing of the forest has to be postponed again and again. Jensen doesn't believe in the supernatural, but he is beginning to have doubts. On top of that, he's in trouble with the town councillor Jared, who is massively boycotting the building project and making unwanted advances to Jensen. When Jared turns out to be the local forest god, Jensen tries to escape. But the town is surrounded by forests - Jared's home and hunting ground.

Original prompt

This year, my muse was in top form. In addition to a warlock and a mafia boss, she had a great soft spot for a forest god. I love stories about ancient gods in our modern times. And there were plenty of them in Supernatural. I wanted to portray a mystical forest through which a forest god walks.

I had in mind a picture with a detailed background. That meant more effort and time at the same time. But my muse was thrilled. So I set to work. I tried out a new art style again. This time there are only contours in the foreground. On the one hand, it increases the depth effect of the picture. On the other hand, the viewer's attention is drawn more strongly to the foreground. The detailed background is drawn without contours. Colors and blurring accentuate the scene in the foreground.
An ancient forest? I started with thick, dark tree trunks through which the dawn or dusk shimmers. The forest has such a dense canopy of leaves that the lower branches have no foliage because no sunlight reaches them. An old dying tree stands by a path, mushrooms have spread across it. In front lies the remains of a dead tree. Everything is overgrown with ferns.

Now I thought about how I wanted to portray Jared, the forest god. I wanted him to look majestic and ethereal. I looked at reference pictures by Sam Winchester. I used MagicPoser for the proportions and posture. I decided on a floor-length flowing robe in green - very appropriate for a forest god.

I placed Jared in the center in front of the dying tree, which circles him like an embrace. Large healthy trees can be seen in the background. In the foreground is a dead tree. Because life and death are a perpetual cycle of nature.

Something was still missing to emphasize Jared's divinity. So I added a crown of antlers and a divine sparkle. But would a mighty god wander alone through the forest? Surely he would have companions or guardians. Jared Padalecki is a big dog lover. Every fan of the actor knows his beloved dogs Sadie and Harley, who are sadly already in dog heaven.

So why not dogs as companions? Or wolves, which are better suited to a forest god. Or both. The largest wolf of all time is the extinct dire wolf (Canis dirus - Latin for “terrible dog”). Dire wolves were large wolf-like canids and lived 13,000 years ago in North and South America. Today there are only bones and skeletons of them in museums. That's how I came up with the idea of the supernatural skeletal wolves that accompany forest god Jared. Together they make a cool picture.

Art process

Jared's main interest is the ancient forest outside the city and saving it from deforestation. His divine power is incomplete without companions. That's why he has to use human methods to protect his forest and, as a member of the town council, tries to prevent development plans and projects. That's why I chose the forest as the background for the chapter headings. One of Jared's faithful skeletal wolves can be seen running past a fern plant as an eye-catcher.
For the headings here and on the cover and banner, I chose a slightly squiggly font that is reminiscent of plants. In keeping with the forest theme in green and decorated with leaves.
The forest backdrop, skeletal wolf and fern plant as well as the headline fit the overall concept and underline the story's plot. I designed two variants to choose from - compact and elongated.

I made the dividers dynamic so that the reader is also visually guided through the story. The story is about a run-down city and the “damaged” forest around it. At the beginning, the city skyline (skyline with skyscrapers) looks dark (corruption, dilapidated neighborhoods) and the forest around it is desolate, all the trees are cold gray greens. Jared only had half his god power before Jensen, and his forest suffered as a result. The city becomes brighter and friendlier with every text divider, as more and more windows light up. The forest becomes greener and livelier. At the end of the divider, the windows of all the skyscrapers light up. The facades are silver-grey. Everything shines like a disco ball. The city has blossomed again. The forest around it is healthy. Warm shades of green underline this.
There are three versions of the End text divider. End 1 is designed in the same way as dividers 1-5. The forest at End 2 is magical again. The divine blessing sparkles everywhere (now there are finally two forest gods). At the End 3, Dire Wolf Sadie roams through the magical forest with her five pups.

I always have the best ideas when I'm reading a story. I experience the plot like a movie and when I mentally press the pause button, I see the future picture in front of me. And all I have to do is “sketch it out”.

„His thumb was bouncing against the steering wheel in time to the music playing on the radio when he felt the chill run down his spine. As if someone or something were watching him. He glanced around quickly and didn’t immediately spot anything, but as he turned back to look at the traffic light, a huge set of antlers appeared before him. They crowned the head of a man he would know anywhere; except he had never witnessed Jared looking like this before.
Jared was dressed in long green robes and whatever skin wasn’t covered by them appeared as if they had been tattooed with a mass of swirling vines. The antlers were almost three feet tall and for a moment Jensen thought they made Jared look incredibly regal and majestic. Which, what?“

So I researched street views of modern city centers with high-rise buildings. I decided to use perspective to give the viewer a sense of spatial depth.
I began to draw a street with house fronts and a crosswalk. I aligned the vanishing point with Jared so that the eye immediately falls on him. There is a lot of concrete and little green in the center of Hainich. The exact opposite of Jared's native forest. Jared crosses the street in his full supernatural splendor. The golden sparkle and his overpowering shadow hint at his divine power.

„There were two skeletal dogs – no, scratch that – wolves. Two monstrous skeletal wolves were standing across the street. Pawing at the pavement. Exposed claws scraping over concrete and making a sound that Jensen would be happy to never again hear for the entire rest of his life. Jensen used every ounce of concentration he possessed to simultaneously focus on the wolves and guide his key to the lock. Once the key scraped over the tumblers, the wolves’ heads perked up and they began to advance.“

While reading, I mentally pressed the pause button again. Skeletal wolves walking along the sidewalk? I absolutely had to draw this picture. Jensen parks opposite them in front of his rented house. So I thought of a suburban housing estate with terraced houses and lawns in front. I looked at a lot of pictures of houses and decided on a typical American house facade with brightly painted wooden sidings in a horizontal design. There is not much greenery in this picture either. No trees, bushes, shrubs or flowers - just lawn. Jared has always wanted to rectify this problem, but has lacked the necessary energy.

Finally, I wanted to draw a picture of the forest gods Jared and Jensen, who are happy. Both are standing at the edge of their ancient forest, looking proudly at their work - new renaturalized forest areas and a booming city. Their beautiful, intact home. I have drawn old trees with a green canopy of leaves in the foreground. Lush ferns grow in the shade of the treetops. The ancient forest is imbued with the blessing (golden sparkle) of the forest gods. Bright green young forest (reforestation) stretches out in front of Jared and Jensen. The town of Hainich glistens bright and friendly in the sun. Happy ending.

My third J2 Reverse Bang. Thank you so much to the moderators for running this wonderful J2 challenge again this year.
I was delighted when StellaRasu claimed my artwork “MAFIA”. She wrote the lively mafia comedy “Bloody BUSINESS” for it. It contains everything a reader's heart desires. Humor, suspense, action, love, romance and of course the most important thing - a happy ending. Our collaboration was great and the brainstorming was really fun. My muse got new inspiration with every finished chapter and so covers, banners, chapter headings, dividers and J2 images were created in black and white with red. And later also in color.

Art Description: Mafia boss Jared rules the city and gets everyone he wants. Only Jensen says no and keeps giving him the slip. Or at least he tries to when he stumbles into mafia crime scenes. Then, unfortunately, Jensen's blood phobia prevents him from escaping and he falls unconscious into Jared's arms.

This year, my muse was in top form. In addition to a warlock and a forest god, she also had a soft spot for mafia art. I love J2 mafia stories. Mafia always makes me think of organized crime, powerful mob bosses and hit men, dark alleys, blood and guns with silencers.
My muse always needs a little action as inspiration for drawing. So I thought about characteristic mafia features. I came up with the idea of Jensen and his blood phobia, who stumbles across mafia boss Jared's bloody work in dark alleys. So an innocent guy (=light), darkness (=night) and blood (=blood phobia, danger). White, black and red. Simple symbolism that explains everything. The minimalist illustration style was perfect for this. Clear contours, expressive lines, clarity and recognizability.

So I looked for references. A picture of Jensen with a clear gaze and no beard - beautiful and innocent. Then a second picture with broad shoulders and a blue T-shirt. I also looked at a lot of pictures for the gun hand. Sam Winchester's main gun is a Taurus Model 92 9 mm.

Then I began to sketch. First I drew Jensen expressively in the foreground. The black background and the shadowy hand with the gun were intended to symbolize the danger in the darkness. Blood stands for Jensen's blood phobia and bloody mafia feuds. In the end, I combined everything together. I liked the design.

Based on the sketch, I drew Jensen again with exact contours and improved his eyes, mouth, nose, ears, hair and eyebrows. His freckles were also given an upgrade. Sam Winchester/Jared is right-handed. So I drew the Taurus pistol in his right hand as a little SPN reference and added a silencer for organized crime (=Mafia). I made Jensen a little smaller so that the title and name would fit on the cover. I chose the serif font specifically because of the mafia content. Many books and films use such fonts for this genre. The font also had to be very bold and large so that the title wouldn't get lost in the picture. For reverse bangs, I always design a cover with a preliminary title (short, large and concise) and space for the names of the artist and author. This makes it easier for an interested author to imagine what the future cover for their story might look like.

I tested out several cover designs. Red gun, 2D or 3D blood, red font, colored eye. In the end, I liked the cover with Outline-Jensen against a black background, white gun, black lettering and 3D blood the best. Yes, the red color of the blood stood out ominously and heightened the drama on the cover. And StellaRasu liked the image so much that she claimed it and wrote a wonderful mafia love story for it.

Jensen and Jared both play the main roles in the story. So I wanted to make their pictures similar so that neither of the J2s would be at a “disadvantage”. To do this, I chose a similar image of Jared - equally handsome and with criminal intelligence in his eyes. I wanted to use the same gun in Jared's hand so that both images would harmonize.

First I made a rough sketch of Jared. Then I made a detailed outline. But I didn't like the mouth, hair, eyebrows and sideburns. So I drew Jared a third time. Then I added the black background and the gun in his hand. Done! At least that's what I thought.

Weapon and hand should only be shown as a white outline on a black background without shading. But the weapons looked much better with a patterned grip. A tiny 3D effect.
The plan was to use the gun with the silencer in both pictures of Jensen and Jared. But the story took on a life of its own and mafia boss Jared turned out to be a knife expert. So my author StellaRasu asked for art with a knife variant.

So I did some more research. Angel blade, demon knife, First Blade - that's what I thought of first. But these fantasy knives didn't fit in with the modern day in which the story is set. That's why I took a closer look at Sam Winchester's “normal” knives. The Cold Steel ODA would also sit well in the hand of mafia boss Jared. It has a multi-curved blade as well as a practical toggle (hand guard) and a non-slip handle with a lanyard hole. Now I looked for corresponding picture references of Sam and drew Jared's knife-holding hand.

The individual chapters that StellaRasu gradually sent to me inspired my muse, which wanted to do even more. And Jensen's eye is to blame for the fact that there is now a color version of the pictures. I had tried out several cover designs. Among them was a cover with a colored iris. I really liked it and so did my muse. Then Jared looked at me so pleadingly in black and white and I just couldn't resist. I colored Jared first and then Jensen. And because it was so much fun, there was also a color cover and banner as well as both J2s in front of a bloodless star background.

The entire art set is a concept of the colors white and black as well as red as a contrast. The chapter headings and dividers are also coordinated with this. The same font as the title. “Bloody” in the title describes the red color gradient and looks just as great in the chapter headings. The numbering is also dripping with blood, because the story is a little bloodier here, while there is less blood in the epilogue. I used the silencer gun from the cover for the chapter headings, while I used knives for the dividers.

My fourth SPN J2 Big Bang! And again, there were so many great stories to choose from. Four made my shortlist. I'm very happy that I was able to claim my favorite, Second Chance by blackrose_17. As soon as I first read the summary, I had the idea of designing a cover in a vintage love comic book style. Mixed with a bit of pop art. The content of this story would fit in well. A melancholy Jared in the foreground and Jensen in a smart suit diagonally behind him. A wolf in sheep's clothing acting in the background? Everything is kept in romantic colors.
After claiming it, blackrose_17 changed the long title "That is the love that lives in your veins" to "Second Chance". It was much shorter and said more about the content of the story. I was very happy about that. There was much more space for the characters on the cover.

So I sketched out my ideas on a small piece of paper. For the background, I imagined Jensen's expensive car or Jared's broken heart. The division of the characters and the title would work well if I could realize it that way.

Then I did some research on the internet. I looked at many covers of comic love books. What style was used, what colors. How were the characters portrayed.

Next, I looked for reference pictures of Jared and Jensen and big cars. I thought about what clothes the two men on the cover might be wearing.

I started to draw a rough sketch. A melancholy Jared in a work shirt and a confident Jensen in a suit. Rich and poor. The power imbalance is clearly visible. My author liked the idea. So I tested the color selection, the fonts and the vintage look.

Now I drew Jared, Jensen and the car individually as line art so that I could arrange them differently or change them slightly on the cover, the banner and the individual images. I still have a slight problem with hair. And drawing cars is also difficult. The worst was the radiator grille.

The comic book style usually uses warm, bright colors and line art. The pop art style is colorful and cheerful. So I chose colors with that in mind. Jared was given a white and red checked shirt, Jensen white trousers, a light gray shirt and a dark jacket. A hero in shining armor? The headline was given bright colors. The author's and artist's names are in neutral white and stand out clearly against the background.

What I love about pop art is the fanned background with dots. I started with the medium blue background color. With turquoise, I drew rays with Jared in the center. Then I added yellow and brown for the ground. Now the rays got their dots. Using the texture brush, I lightly erased over the dots to vary the opacity. Then I applied a vintage texture over the entire image. Using the texture brush, I added wear marks around the edges.
The blue-turquoise background is the unifying element of all the artwork and unifies the art set into a whole.

I used the grid brush for the dots, but I could just as easily have used a free image file with dots from the internet. I used a paperback texture for the vintage look.

For the warm vintage look of the finished picture, the colors of the template had to be cold and bright. That wasn't so easy. I wanted to constantly improve the colors so that both J2s would also look good on the template.

The story was not divided into chapters. So there were no chapter headings. To ensure that there was still some art within the story, I drew dividers. I took up the initial idea of the broken heart again and created different dividers that reflect the course of the story. First, Jared's heart is broken. Then it puts itself back together. Later it is completely healed. And finally united with Jensen's heart.

I drew all my artwork with Procreate. I'm still amazed at how easy and simple it is to draw with this graphic design app. And how much power (tools and brushes) there is under the hood. For this art set, however, I only needed five brushes. I used the calligraphy brush to create the line art. Monoline is an all-rounder - coloring, drawing lines, touching up - it can do it all. I used Soft Brush for the shading. For the pop art and vintage look, I used the special brushes Grid Dots and Texture.

J2 Reverse Bang 2023 - STAINED GLASS LOVE - Artpost

My second J2 Reserve Bang. A huge thank you to the moderators who make this challenge possible every year. I was over the moon when the talented author candygramme claimed my submitted artwork. She wrote the wonderful modern love story "STAINED GLASS LOVE", which contains everything a reader's heart desires. Suspense, action, friendship, love, romance, happy endings and, of course, Cat. Inspired by this, the ideas for further works of art kept flowing.
The collaboration with candygramme was great. We had so much fun and enjoyed working on story and art together. This resulted in many more artworks and a longer story than initially thought. I will miss our almost daily emails, the lively and successful exchange of ideas, the beta work.

J2 Reverse Bang 2023 - Original prompt - Prompt 11

Art Description: Patron of the arts and multimillionaire Jared Padalecki likes to promote exceptional artists. Lead glass artist Jensen Ackles can't stand arrogant rich assholes who hand out handouts disguised as sponsorship. Jared blows him off several times. When Jensen suddenly needs money, he accepts Jared's commission to design a leaded glass window for his mansion. And Jared finally gets the chance to convince the stubborn artist of his qualities.

Stained glass art or glass painting has always fascinated me. As I like to try out new drawing styles, I have looked at many pictures of people in stained glass in order to depict Jared in a different way. This craft technique is over a thousand years old. Large window areas, especially for sacred buildings, could not be produced in the Middle Ages. This meant that the glassmakers only had the option of producing small panes of glass and framing and soldering them using lead rods. Today, it's not just church windows, but a whole world of stained glass. Very motivated, I started painting Jared in stained glass. I have yet to read a J2 story about this art form. I thought maybe there would be an author who is just as fascinated and would like to write about glass artist Jensen and patron Jared. That's how my picture ended up at J2 RB 2023.

This was my first foray into the world of stained glass. Jensen makes Jared's picture with real glass and lead rods, so the individual pieces of glass couldn't be too small. The rose looks a bit fleshy and the textured glass effect isn't quite right either. But candygramme saw my potential and claimed my artwork and took up my ideas for a story. This laid the foundation for a great collaboration.

In the story, everything revolves around glass art. So the art for the story should also be stained glass. I reworked Jared's glass portrait. His hair was given soft waves. The background now consists of bright dark blue pieces of glass. Everything was framed with a light blue frame. Then I added a realistic textured glass effect. The red lettering and the romantic roses made of floral glass set accents.
Funnily enough, the black and white contour pictures look like small ice sculptures. But ice sculptors (ice artists, ice carvers) are not the subject this time. But I'll keep the idea in mind. Each "piece of glass" in all the stained glass pictures had to be worked on individually. First, the pieces were colored and later underlaid with different textured glass textures.

Equal rights for both main characters. So Jensen also received a glass portrait. The J2s in the story are both about 29 years old. They don't wear beards, my author and I agreed on that.

I used both glass portraits to create the banner and the happy ending picture. Jensen surprises Jared with both pictures after their honeymoon. They decorate the patio double doors in their new house.

In the press photo, Jared and Jensen are shown standing in front of them, smiling happily into the camera. Drawing people in this style is difficult and takes a lot of time. But the effort is worth it if you like the result.

As Jared and Jensen had turned out so well, I also drew a second Jared and designed another cover to match the happy ending image. I had the idea at the very beginning, but I didn't really trust myself to draw Jared and Jensen realistically.

I wanted to draw Jensen when Jared sees him for the first time and falls in love. The glass artist is immersed in ethereal light, colored light reflections dance on his skin. I originally had a church with leaded arched windows in mind as the background. The round window was an idea from candygramme. I looked at many motifs of window rosettes (also known as rose windows), which are mainly found in Gothic churches. I decided on a floral motif in blue-green tones with reddish accents. First I drew the contours of the window. Then I colored everything. Finally, I added a textured glass effect as well as light and shadow. The sun doesn't illuminate the church window evenly because there are houses and trees in front of the church.

Jensen looks uncomfortably into the press cameras, as he doesn't like being in the spotlight. As always, I drew the outlines first and filled them in with color. I started with the trousers, then the shirt, t-shirt face and arms and finally the hair. I chose a realistic drawing style so that Jensen and the color rays and reflections would stand out particularly well.

Jensen had already counted out the number of colors he would need for the completed design, which would use both clear, tinted cathedral glass and colored, opalescent glass in a design that would show a mermaid sitting on a rock while behind her a shoal of porpoises cavorted in the waves, and a distant coastline standing in the misty background.

Based on this description and a sketch by candygramme, I drew Jensen's mermaid window. A mermaid on a rock, which is washed by waves with sea foam, watches dolphins in the evening sun. I replaced the porpoises with funny dolphins jumping out of the water. Porpoises almost never jump out of the water. Dolphins have been known since ancient times to save people time and time again. So they were better suited to the swimming pool. I added a rectangular decorative frame with shimmering shells and starfish to the oval picture.

My author candygramme had the idea of writing newspaper articles to highlight events. To make it easier for the reader to follow the course of events over time, I suggested creating newspaper clippings with the logo of the newspaper and linking the publication date to the plot.

In this way, two articles could be included in one clipping, both of which had to do with the current plot. So I designed the Austin Tribune and its offshoot, the Houston Tribune. The blue newspaper name and the flag bring color into the picture, because the articles are designed in black and white, as is usual for daily newspapers.

The main article of the respective newspaper clipping should always contain a photo. But just a picture of the cat book would not embody an auction. That's when I came up with the idea of gloved hands holding an auction item. So I drew four hands with dark blue suit sleeves and white gloves presenting a book.

We needed a second article for the third newspaper clipping. Moody Gardens or the Space Center were obvious choices because the group visits both destinations. The idea to do an article about the painting penguins in the aquarium came from candygramme. I chose the rockhopper penguin with its colorful headdress that was making a painting.

Jensen's cat Cat, whose full name is Her Majesty Tsarina Catherine II, Queen Cat or affectionately known as Queenie, is the secret star of the story. She keeps everyone on their toes with her hilarious antics.

That's what gave me the idea for the chapter headings in glass art. Five pictures show Cat hunting, sunbathing and at night. Because glass art can be viewed and admired from both sides, the cat picture and its symmetrical image (mirror-inverted) can be seen. To further distinguish the individual chapters, and because glass art stands for a variety of colors, I have chosen five different color combinations. Everything was designed with the same textured glass texture as the cover.

The chapter numbers have the same red color and floral glass texture as the headings on the cover and banner. So everything fits together. The uniform art set of cover, banner and chapter headings frames and decorates the story from beginning to end.

There's also an ending chapter heading with Cat and King. Metaphorically, it could also be Jensen and Jared, with the taller one stealing a kiss. Candygramme had the idea with the bow tie. A humorous reminder of the wedding speech.

The choice of bow tie colors made the decision difficult, but in the end my author chose the color red to match the red of the lettering.

To further emphasize the uniformity, I opted for dividers that are coordinated with the chapter headings. Leaves, flowers, shape, stars and branches as well as the color palette merge into smaller equivalents. This way, the reader knows that they are still in the same chapter. Or they can find their way around more easily later if they are looking for a particular passage to read again.

To break up the story - for a little laugh in between - I drew a few more cat pictures. Cat hunts mice, rats, butterflies, snakes, frogs, lizards and spiders. She likes to scare Donna Ackles, who gets very upset and complains to Jensen about her prey.

For visually impaired or foreign language speakers who rely on screen readers, voice browsers or translation programs, texts in image files are incomprehensible as they cannot be read digitally with these assistive programs. I therefore suggested providing the newspaper articles as text in a glossary. At the same time, further terms or details about the story can also be explained. To liven up the whole glossary, I drew a few pictures such as the kudzu plant, penguin footprints and Cottonland Castle. If you look closely, you can see that the chapter heading "Glossary" has a 3D effect. The red letters stand out against the dark blue background and float above it.

My third SPN J2 Big Bang! There were so many great stories, it was really hard to choose. But the synopsis of "Rest & Restore" piqued my interest and I claimed compo67's story. My muse was bright-eyed and bubbling with ideas as I read the draft. My author gave me free rein and I was able to implement my ideas to my heart's content. Here is my artpost to this wonderful love story between writer Jared and contractor Jensen, who are restoring a mansion together. Enjoy watching and reading!

I had a good feeling when I read the summary in the artist preview and I was not disappointed. Jared, Jensen, restoration of an old mansion, dogs, slow story development, short title - there were so many possibilities for artistic expression.

I always like to design art for challenges as an overall concept. Cover, banner, dividers as well as chapter headings should form a unit and frame and emphasize the story as well as invite you to read it. After reading the draft, I thought about what a cover that matched the content of the story would look like. What might chapter headings and dividers look like?

I was inspired by the description of the mansion in the story.

„The house itself looks like it belongs in the French countryside. Two robin’s egg blue French doors grace the front, framed by white bay windows. Atop the doors rests a small balcony. The house is made out of gray brick with a white trim. Ornate white molding surrounds each of the ten windows Jared counts out front. Two stately pine trees guard the house, accompanied by a few smaller trees and bushes.“

First rough ideas on small notepaper

For my works of art, I chose the blue door of the mansion as the unifying element in "Rest & Restore". It is distinctive and defining of the mansion. It is through the mansion that Jared and Jensen meet. It is also where the main part of the story takes place. Both J2s are emotionally attached to the house. They love it.

Sketches - lineart and color scheme

In the center of the cover is the blue door, framed by gray bricks. The door paint has peeled off, the joints of the bricks are damp, dark and mossy. Wild ivy has taken over the brickwork. The mansion is in need of renovation. Jared and Jensen face each other. The mood is casual and light. The big "&" visually connects both men.

After my author agreed with the draft, I started to revise the sketches and design the cover properly. In detail, I drew brickwork, moss, ivy, entryway and door.

At the beginning of the story Jared is very melancholic and sad. That's why he is dressed a little darker. It makes him look more serious.

Jensen is a cheerful guy who is in the middle of life and enjoys it. His clothes are bright and sunny.

Light and dark. Yin and Yang. Opposites attract. Jared and Jensen look at each other teasingly. The attraction is almost tangible. Just a small step from both towards each other and they are united.

Through the shadow of the balcony, the focus is fully on Jared and Jensen and the title.

For the title, I chose a curved, elegant font. It should be historical and modern at the same time, to match the old and new splendor of the mansion.

Using the description and compo67's hints, I made a picture of the mansion after its restoration. The wild ivy was replaced by bushes. The facade of the house was cleaned. Windows, entrance area and door received new paint. Everything is bright and inviting. Rolling hills dot the landscape. Two large pine trees flank the house. On one gable end are trees and shrubs. On the other side begins the apple plantation.

For the 26 chapter headings, I drew the hilly landscape with mansion and apple tree plantation. To show the progression of the story, the chapter headings are colored from shades of gray at the beginning (Chapter 1) to full color at the end (Chapter 26). In this way, the reader unconsciously sees the development of the wonderful love story. The world becomes more and more colorful and joyful for Jared, especially because Jensen is involved.

The wavy design of the pictures also contributes to the dynamics. Gentle waves convey the calm character of the plot, the slow unfolding of the love story.

I used the same font as on the cover and banner. Loosely the numbers float on the waves of the background.

The wild ivy vines of the old house made good decorative dividers.

Another picture shows Golden Retriever Maple in the mansion, surrounded by Jensen's painting utensils and Jared's books. The wall of the room is not quite painted yet. Light or dark parquet floor - I couldn't decide.

For the end of the story, I drew Jared and Jensen sitting together in front of the renovated house facade, petting their own dog. Both are wearing bright clothes, laughing and happy. Happy ending.

SPN J2 Big Bang 2023 #1 - Hear the Songbird Sing - Artpost

My third SPN J2 Big Bang! This time Mafia and Creatures - two fan heart flies with one stone. My muse had a lot of fun creating art for "Hear the Songbird Sing". Here's my art contribution to the story. Have fun looking and reading!

Summary: A siren's call can be a powerful thing and even such a powerful dragon like Jensen can fall under his spell. Jensen owns the city and when he comes across the siren Jared working at one of his club's he knows that he is meant to be his. Jared never thought that he would catch the attention of such a powerful being like Jensen. The two cannot deny the call between the two of them and fall into a relationship that some think they can use to gain what they want not realizing that a Siren is as possessive and protective over their mate as a Dragon is.

A mafia creature story? My muse was immediately on fire when I read the synopsis. Luckily, I was able to claim "Hear the Songbird Sing".

For the cover, I picked up the scene in the pool. Jared transforms into a siren in the water and sings. Dragon Jensen towers proudly behind him. Two main colors dominate the cover - blue for siren Jared and green for dragon Jensen. Pool edge and background also blue to achieve felt equal color proportions. Because both companions are equally strong.

First I drew a rough sketch to test the effect. I liked the arrangement. So I started to create a draft.

I was inspired by the description of Jared as a siren and Jensen in dragon form.

„Jared's tanned skin was a beautiful mixture of blue and silver, his eyes were pure white and glowed like the stars themselves and is hair shimmered like the water in the morning sun.“

„Jared's eyes widened at the sight of the emerald dragon that stood in place where Jensen was.“

Dragon Jensen looked a little too peaceful and gentle. So I changed the snout and eye shape and added fangs. Now the dragon looks much more dangerous. His evil look warns everyone not to mess with him or his mate. Jensen's trademark arched eyebrow completed the dragon look.

The shiny white bluish hair makes Siren Jared look unearthly beautiful, almost ethereal. His blue skin glistens silvery.

Jared's siren song for his mate is especially bright and clear. So I made the notes on the cover and banner bright white.

On the banner, Jensen tilts his dragon head down to Jared. Now you can also see that they are bathing in an infinity pool. A pool that appears edgeless because the back end is lowered so that the water seems to disappear into nothingness or infinity. Or merge with the sky on the horizon. Jensen is rich. The mafia business is going well. His dragon treasure is huge. He loves beautiful things and can afford such a huge expensive pool, which he can also use in his dragon form. Jared is excited and sings.

The story is not divided into chapters, so chapter headings were not needed.

„The sound of the siren song was beautiful and Jensen let out his own dragon song, one that was only to be heard by their mate. Together they created beautiful and timeless music that bound their souls and lives together, they were now and forever connected.“

Inspired by these words, I drew staves with notes in blue and green as dividers to represent the siren';s song as well as the dragon's song. When they sing together after mating, their songs merge. Now Jared's song contains green notes and Jensen's staves contain blue notes. The colors of the staves also change.

Die erste Begegnung von Jared und Jensen fand ich besonders toll. Jared sitzt in einem Höhlengang nahe der Ausgrabungsstätte in Finnland und schaut sich Fotos eines versiegelten Sarges auf seinem iPad an. Plötzlich sitzt Jensen nackt im Schneidersitz vor ihm. Diese Szene war so anschaulich beschrieben, dass ich sie bildlich vor mir sah. Ich musste sie einfach zeichnen.

I particularly loved the first encounter between Jared and Jensen. Jared is sitting in a cave passage near the excavation site in Finland, looking at photos of a sealed coffin on his iPad. Suddenly Jensen is sitting cross-legged naked in front of him. This scene was so vividly described that I could see it pictorially. I just had to draw it.

Jared und Jensen sitzen sich gegenüber und schauen sich an. Sie werden vom Licht des iPads beleuchtet. Weil in den Höhlen zur Wikingerzeit eine bärenähnliche Kreatur angebetet wurde, sind im Hintergrund Ornamente des Bären-Kultes zu sehen. Den Titel habe ich ähnlich wie die Ornamente gestaltet. Die Schrift sieht aus, als wenn sich aus Stein gemeißelt wäre - passend zum archäologischen Thema.

Jared and Jensen are sitting facing each other, looking at each other. They are illuminated by the light of the iPad. Because a bear-like creature was worshipped in the caves in Viking times, there are ornaments of the bear cult in the background. I designed the title as similar to the ornaments. The font looks as if carved out of stone - in keeping with the archaeological theme.

Dear dugindeep (hotsauce), I took your words to heart and browsed your works on AO3. I promptly came across my favorites That a Broken Bone in Your Pocket, Or You Just Happy to See Me? and Sasquatch Jared.

I love the Sasquatch!Jared series. The three parts are so great and entertainingly written that I enjoy reading them over and over again. Jared as Sasquatch is awesome. You described him so pictorially and vividly that I saw him before my eyes.

So I thought, why not design a cover for this series? Then your preferences like J2, RPF, banter and fun, travel adventures (like mishaps on vacation), sweet meeting as well as your gift wish art would be fulfilled.

No sooner said than done. I pulled out my pen and started drawing a Sasquatch Jared with maroon fur on Procreate. He lives in the woods of North Vancouver in a cave and sometimes paints the rock walls with doodles and sketches when he is lonely. Have fun watching.

My second art contribution to this year's SPN Reverse Bang. A big thank you to the moderators for organizing this great challenge. The joy was great when maaldas claimed my original cover KING of SPADES and wrote a turbulent, action-packed story full of passion, revenge and gambling for it. I haven't followed such an exciting poker game since 007 Casino Royale. Thank you, maaldas, for choosing my art and dreaming up this wonderful story, which in turn inspired me to create more art.

Supernatural Reverse Bang 2022 #2 - Original prompt - R1006

Art Description: Jensen leads a vendetta against the casinos of this world. He wins hands down at the card table with the suit of spades and gives away the winnings to local gambling addiction counseling centers. This has earned him the nickname King of Spades.
When Jensen enters the Padalecki casino in Vegas, Jared's eyes light up possessively. This handsome prickly man will be his, even though he seems to hate casino owners. The game begins and the sparks fly as Jared steps up to the gaming table and into Jensen's life. Because this time, the ace of hearts will beat the king of spades.
But Jensen still has a few trump cards up his sleeve, and if nothing else helps, an extended trip to Europe seems like a good alternative to escape the dangerous man. It's just too bad that Jared's power and the influence of his casino empire reach all the way there. (Modern AU)

I already had the idea for KING of SPADES last year. But I didn't realize it because I couldn't draw. And playing cards with manips from Jensen and Jared didn't appeal to me. With Procreate this year, I discovered my passion for drawing and revisited the playing card idea for SPN Reverse Bang 2022. For this, I came up with a story about Jensen, a poker player, who rips off the casinos of the world for revenge. Which playing card would represent him best? Which colors should I choose. I quickly decided on the king of spades, green and gold.

First I sketched my ideas and tried color combinations as well as backgrounds. But the card looked most beautiful on its own. Only colored with a touch of cream white, so that it visually stands out against the white background of the browser.

Then I drew the king of spades Jensen in pompous clothes. Ermine fur and precious stones complete the noble look. As a symbol of rulership he carries a scepter. The colors blue and green stand for gentleness, balance and harmony. Jensen is not a fighter. He prefers to avoid conflicts.

Where there is a King Jensen, there must be a King Jared. The King of Hearts did not fit Jared's character as Mob Boss. The Black Cross King embodies him much better.

Jared holds a sword in his hand. He wears a dark red cape, his tunic is black. These colors stand for passion, danger, elegance, power and dominance. The black cross as well as the weapon symbolize fight and death. Jared is a dangerous man, whom Jensen instinctively tries to avoid.

In addition to Jensen's colors of green and gold and Jared's dark red and black, the two playing colors of red and black naturally also flow into the artwork and contribute to the unified overall concept. The playing cards are outlined and framed in black. The card backs have a red pattern.

I also needed symbols for the cards. Hearts, spades and diamonds are nicely curved. The cross is cuddly. This makes the cards look more cheerful.

Chapter headings and dividers should be connected to the story. So what was a better fit than playing cards. Again, I tried a lot of things. Instead of symbols and picture cards, I added one large letter per playing card. The backs of the cards are blanks. Everything in the playing colors red and black. Finished were the chapter headings.

For the dividers, I chose five playing cards lined up (5-card hand in poker) with backs, different values, and the same symbols and playing colors. So again and again a different "hand" like in the poker game. According to the two chapter headings, the dividers are only with spades and hearts.

It was exciting to experience live how maaldas continued the story word by word. Google Docs makes it possible. I really admire authors who can easily pull words and sentences out of their sleeves. Anyway, I was able to gather and implement many ideas while reading the updates. One scene in particular stuck with me. Jensen is sitting at the game table and Jared is secretly watching him from behind before he sits down at the game table.

Then when maaldas also described Jared's clothing (dark blue suit, turquoise shirt with open collar), I had to get out my drawing pencil. Jared and Jensen in suits are just eye candy. I really like the SPN episodes where Dean and Sam are in suits and tuxedos. So for Jensen, I chose a black tuxedo with a dark bow tie and white shirt. Jared's shirt is open enough to show his chest hair.

In a picture with a casino poker table, no chips should be missing. I drew four different colored chips and stacked them into towers of different heights. Jensen just threw all his chips into the pot. Jared's chip stacks grow with every win.

At first I wanted to draw Jared with the purple suede jacket he had worn in Tokyo. But he just looked better in an anthracite suit with a silver gun. Jared looks deep into Jensen's eyes after the shooting. Upright, shot and covered in blood, his hair disheveled from the fight. This is the moment I wanted to capture. I created two variations. One is Jared standing with his gun in the casino in Monte Carlo. In the second image, Jared is wounded and bloody, with a corpse and pool of blood in the background.

In addition, there is Jared's heart royal flush, with which he defeats Jensen for the first time. For the illustration, I drew symbolic court cards. The color selection was more difficult. But the J2's helped. The green and red of their two playing card capes fit beautifully with the overall concept of all the artwork. United colors - metaphorically already a little preview of the end of the story?

Inspired by it, she wrote a fantastic modern story that has everything for the reader's heart. Suspense, action, love, romance, magic, mystical creatures. Supernatural Reverse Bang 2022 #1 - Original prompt - R1002

Short description of art: Medusas and all their descendants should mate only with their own kind. But half-breed Jensen disagreed and had broken with his family when they wanted to marry him to Tristan, the son of their Gorgon chief in Greece. His future husband was a pure-blooded Medusa: powerful, imperious, arrogant, possessive, murderous, deadly. That's how it was told. So the exact opposite of Jensen. Fleeing, he leaves his hometown for Dallas.
Jensen is happy until his new life goes down the drain. Friends and acquaintances end up catatonic in the hospital and want nothing more to do with him afterwards. A mysterious stranger shows up and won't leave him alone. Jensen can't stand the arrogant guy and firmly rejects his advances. Jared doesn't take no or competition and showers Jensen with expensive gifts. (Modern AU)

I have a soft spot for ancient Greece. The mythology with its gods, heroes and monsters fascinates me. Above all, Medusa. A modern Medusa story with Jared and Jensen? The idea had been floating around in my head for a while. What could the cover look like? Jensen with bright clothes in the foreground. Behind him a silhouette of Jared in Medusa form. Modern skyscrapers in front of a nocturnal background. The eyes of the snakes glow mysteriously. Their scales sparkle as green as Jensen's eyes. Of course, I then had to draw Jared in Medusa form as well as the two J2s individually and together.

In the first sketch, I just captured the idea - a Medusa, the snakes as black shadows in the background. Then I thought about a story. A modern universe with Jensen as a half-breed and Jared as Medusa. What would Jared look like with snake hair? I tried a few drawing styles and manips, but finally settled on drawings. Jensen and Jared's eyes shine because they are both powerful. In Medusa form, Jared has red eyes.

In Greek mythology, Medusa is the daughter of a sea deity who was cursed to become a figure of terror that had snake hair and could petrify with her gaze. The story of DWImpala67 also refers to antiquity. For the representation of modern times I drew the skyline of modern skyscrapers. The antiquity is embodied by the Ionic columns as well as the Greek meander ornament. Often medusae have been depicted in antiquity but also in the Baroque as round mosaics as well as reliefs or on shields or coins. Everyone associates blue and white with Greece. So I chose a dark blue night sky and white line drawings.

When you hear Medusa, you think of snakes. So two strokes border the Medusa head and the dividers were ready. Snake green and black alternate. With bright red eyes pull you under their spell.
