So... I'm guessing everyone who decided that they wanted to go home has left by now, right? If anyone did. I guess the rest of us have decided to try working things out.

So who's still here, then? I guess that's what I want to know. Who's going to work on this whole mess? What have we got? I'm sorry to say that I'm not very acquainted with, um, this time period at all. I can swing a sword, but I'm not really an expert in... anything much.

Also, if I can swing a sword... well, even that's useless if I don't have a sword to swing. So, does anyone know where I can get a sword? Or... happen to have one I can borrow?

[For the first few seconds, all that's seen is the ceiling. It's obvious, though, where the owner is; it's the infirmary. One more seems to be awakening today, but they might just be surprised at the face. He looks younger than the other who just came back to life, maybe only by a bit. His hair's grown out during his time in stasis, but there's one copy for you--tilting the angle to show himself. His expression is cold, jaw set at first...

But it softens; not only was he reinformed about what was going on, but... seeing the one he always tried protecting in the same state he'd gotten out of-- it was definitely a rude awakening.

One groan later, and he slowly begins to sit, placing a hand to his forehead.]

Even now... I'm still acting like his shadow. ...They already told me again, but so what.

[A pause]

[At first, the screen of the NEXUS is black.

Just black, but then it flickers to life. Just the ceiling, and it's obvious enough that it's the ceiling of the infirmary. There's no sounds from the owner of the device -- not yet, anyway, but the view shifts, because he's moving in his bed.

As Riku sits up, careful as he can possibly be with his tired, out-of-practice body, the NEXUS slides against his arm. It's face-up on the mattress, so it has a clear view of his face, hair pulled back and eyes closed. He's obviously awake, though.

Slowly, he opens his eyes, and they look strange. Like they're not picking up anything, like he's not seeing whatever his eyes are trained on, which happens to be his lap.

The boy makes a small, unhappy sound, then pats beside him and picks up the NEXUS. The careful observer will notice that his eyes are clear, without cataracts, but that he isn't focused on the screen, either. It's hard to tell just where his eyes are trained, actually.

Finally, Riku speaks, voice quiet.]

... Can someone tell me... what happened?

[The feed turns on. And it's silent, for a long time. There are only a few indications that there's someone on the line. There's static- the hands that hold the nexus are unsteady. Whoever is holding it has to set it down on the bed. There's shuffling. Someone taking a long breath. Then finally, Sora speaks. ]

Riku's gone...

[A long, heavy silence follows.]

I tried to wake him up but he's not --

[The voice stops when it begins to waver. A pause. Then it tries again. Quieter this time.]

I tried to take him downstairs...but he's... it's really hard.

... Help me. Please.

[The feed cuts.]

[ The feed clicks on to show a dark haired woman with her feet up on some kind of console, surrounded by endless monitors. It's likely most of you haven't seen this room before -- but her older residents might recognise. She was the one who arrived the night of the Hakkarin attack with a small ship. ]

Well well, no little update this week huh? No little polite, formal message assuring you everything is going to be fine?

[ She gives a short laugh and flicks her feet down off the console, leaning forward. ]

You know what this means, don't you?

This is your story now. All you have left of Sphere is a manager, a systems admin, a nerd and some little lab slaves. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Carolina Scott. What you should know is that I left this place because I didn't agree with what was going on. I still don't.

[ Carolina tilts her head thoughtfully, a humourless smile playing on her lips. ]

You wanna know what Sphere really is? What Sphere was? This entire place was a huge sprawling research facility. A scientists dream. Sphere worked day and night to make this world a better place. Cleaner energy, more efficient technology, easier living. It was all about improvement, bettering ourselves, having a greater understanding of the universe and our place in it. If you ever wanted to learn something, Sphere was the place to do it. They had archives beyond your wildest dreams. Details of the history of every planet, every universe, every culture that's ever existed -- and they learned from history's mistakes.

But not their own. Doesn't look like that now, does it? Let's just say they made a few major mistakes.

[ She grabs a packet of what looks like dried fruit off the console and leans back again. ]

I think we need a little meet up, don't you? Let's get ourselves all on the same page here, then you can decide what you want to do. I have a few stories to tell, and I don't want to have to do it more than once.

[The feed comes on to a blond sitting in front of an empty capsule, obviously only recently vacated. He looks tired, a little overwhelmed, a little too much like the world is being carried on his shoulders, but he's still looking into the source of the video with some determination.]

I've just had everything explained to me- re-explained to me- I mean-

[A sigh.] Just shove a camera at him; he knows how to use it...

I could use some help to find my room, if anyone's listening. Everyone around here is busy.

[With that, he leans back, his whole demeanor breaking down a little more, as if he doesn't even know the camera's still on. Just, staring at white walls, footsteps hurrying past, not particularly being noticed.]

If I'm here, does that mean- I don't have to disappear?

Put me in his place, Ingram. If the trial offered right now is more or less stable, use it on the people who need it more. Test the experimental ones on me. I imagine you're looking for another lab rat anyway, aren't you? [By the way, he blames Gabriel's death on you, Robert. ;; sorry.]

At 4AM this morning, the sound of hurrying feet can be heard up and down the hallways of Sphere. Hushed voices -- and what sounds like Doctor Ingrams voice carrying above them all. Approached, they snap Not now -- but something is clearly going on. Attempts to get hold of any of the scientists throughout the day are met with frustration (they're busy with something, obviously). The usual update time comes and goes, then -- much shorter and... later than usual... _

[The video starts off showing Aqua's pod. She looks like she's sleeping soundly, that nothing in the world can bother her. She's been this way since she the sickness took over her body, but now there's something different...

Her eyelids give off a little movement, as though she's entered some sort of REM state of sleep. Perhaps she's having a very vivid dream. One where her and her friends are back in the Land of Departure. All of them still studying, carrying on normal lives. No need to travel to other worlds. No evil or Darkness to destroy. Everything is the way it was meant to be...all of them together, happy.

The rapid eye movement comes to a stop for a few minutes.

Aqua's peaceful slumber comes to a stop. Her eyelids slowly flutter open. Her vision's blurry, as though she's been asleep for so long she's forgotten what day light, or any light, looks like. She feels like she's been wrapped up in cotton, numb and unable to feel the world around her. In the background she can hear the faint sound of something beeping...maybe a heart monitor to tell those around her pod she's still alive.

Her memories come back to her in jumbled pieces...taking Ven's sleeping body back to the Land of Departure...changing it into a world of Oblivion...losing Terra....Master Eraqus...

Then a beacon of light..with more voices...reaching out to touch it...

A sense of falling then nothingness...and now she's waking up to face a new world.]

During the entire invasion, Yin had just calmly remained in her room, sitting on the edge of her bathtub with her feet soaked in water, having watched the entire battle. However, it seemed she, herself, had came down with the illness as well.

Soon, the network can hear light coughing before it goes silent again. ]

Many have gone into stasis, haven't they. . .?

[ silence once more before she whispers softly, being obvious that she had meant to say it to herself. ]

[Rasler props himself up, leaning against the pillows. The room is unusually still and quiet. He coughs weakly, and looks down to the other half of the bed.]

It seems the illness has caught up with Ashe. [He also fails to mention that he's also sick.] They took her away earlier... [Another coughing fit. He then reaches for a pillow from her side of the bed.] I-I failed her... we never got to properly enjoy what time we had left.

It's as if our happiness was never meant to be.

[He sighs and flops down.]

I hope to be reunited with her at least once.

[ The feed jumps up -- wobbly and not the best quality because whoever started it appears to be somewhere dark with a faint flickering of oddly coloured light. Then it steadies on... Rodney's charming face. Thought he was dead? No such luck. He looks annoyed, battered, and not hugely healthy. Glancing around, he squirms a bit, then -- ]

OK, so, uh -- hi. We have a problem, which I'm pretty sure most of you are aware of by now but in case you hadn't seen...

[ Shaky-cam mode as he squirms again and tilts his Nexus device, panning the camera until --- Oh. The curving roof of Sphere above him has a large chunk taken out of it, although the hole glimmers every so often. Looks like a forcefield is keeping out the elements for now. The video feed pans back down to the floor, then there's a thump as Rodney jumps back town to ground level. ]

We have, uh, quite of few of those. Along with fried circuitry where the Hakkarins couldn't figure out how to shut down systems so shot at them making it extremely difficult for those of us who do understand the system to shut it down properly and repair it. For the moment we're keeping out the weather with tiny patches of shield but, honestly? We really need to get this patched up ASAP. Anyone with a fear of heights need not apply.

[GUESS WHO'S BEEN MIA??? it's been for a good cause though! shiki's been spending most of her time cooped up in her room. whether her roommates noticed this or not, she's been real busy, working on Serah's dress for her wedding.

however, in the middle of her sewing, the virus decided to kick in with a few symptoms. meaning, yes, she is coughing a lot more now, and is more flush with a fever. she's been sleeping a lot too, which is why she hasn't been seen a lot. fortunately she managed to grab some antibiotics from the infirmary beforehand; finally taking some of it, she's feeling a bit better today. thus, her finally posting to the network again.]

its been a while huh?

[-- text post over voice post, so not to have a coughing fit during the recording]

seems like a lots been going on. i think i missed the updates before the most recent one; did something happen?

oh! and serah! i managed to get most of the dress done! gimme a sec... |

[the text post switches over to video, and immediately the video focuses on an almost complete wedding dress*. it's silent for a bit before Shiki begins speaking]

It's really simple... and I still have a whole bunch of stuff to finish, but that's how it's looking so far. [the girl's voice seems quieter, if not hoarse.

[The feed opens up to the sounds of someone fumbling with it - being from 1782 will make any dealings with modern tech that you have a little precarious, even if things were explained first, after all. It doesn't help that Rin is scared and stressed, not crying yet although she's seriously working to hold back the tears. From her hitched breathing and trembly voice it's fairly obvious that she's close to crying, though she has it together well enough that she can formulate some questions.]

... H-hello? [A pause, and a bit of a sniff.] Can anyone - can you really hear me through this?

[There's a pause, for her to breathe more, fast shallow breaths. Kind of scared, even though she's in the station still and pretty much safe. This is really distressing.] I don't - feel sick! [Her voice pitches up high there and she pauses again. Get a grip Rin, keep it together.] How can it be true?!

It's easy enough to figure out the device--he's built entire machines, dissected multiple human bodies and other sordid affairs.]

Whoever has seen fit to pull me from what is most certainly my greatest victory shall be severely punished. I demand an explanation for these events. And be careful with your words.
