Oto-San
an anniversary and a free audio story
On April 26, 2024, Twenty Hills Publishing released a charity anthology entitled These Ties We Forge. The entire premise of this anthology was to take a compassionate look at the hurting, abandoned, and helpless little ones that can be found wherever we look. It was one of those anthologies I didn’t really have on my radar for submitting anything to, simply because I had so much other stuff going on with finishing up the second book in the Song of the Solas trilogy. But when I took a moment to sit down and look through some of my older stories and ideas, it became clear that I had two that very much fit the theme.
To this day, they remain some of my favorite stories I have ever written.
It’s hard to believe that it has been only one year since this anthology entered the world. It’s an unassuming little thing, but I have read it cover to cover and I truly feel it does not get the recognition it deserves. Compassion drips from each story, each poem. It is worth reading and passing on to others.
To celebrate this anniversary, I wanted to share a recording of my story, “Oto-San.” It’s a time-bending, heart-wrenching tale about a father who made terrible mistakes risking everything for the sake of his daughter.
If you enjoyed this story, would you mind sharing it with others? I hope to record more and more of my short stories in the future, but I’d love to gauge the level of interest first.
Thank you for being here, friends.
Soli Deo Gloria,
Andrea Renae
