Pony Plans

So looking time, I have a lot to do this weekend for finals. After this, things ought to be pretty wide open though. The tentative plan for pony stuff is to post sometime midweek--Wednesday or Thursday--and then let anyone who wants to play with it have at for a few days.

Sunday, I have a teeny, tiny little end for things planned, for people who ponied it up. Just a cute little pay off for people who participated.

That gives every~~body~~pony who wants to 4-5 days to frolic and figure out how you make apple pie without hands.

Hiatus/Semi-Hiatus

I had a great time running it, and I feel like over all, it went well! I ♥ everyone who let me abuse their characters, and special thanks to Naoto and Thor for coming in to help, and Uriel for handling limbo for me. The game was that much more awesome for the help.

I've been thinking for a while that Hatter would really, really love running a CFUW game, IC. I've sort of been waffling about whether I wanted to actually try to run one myself, though, but the idea isn't going away, and Hatter having fun is always fun to play. (Because I'm a terrible person.) Sooooo... I guess I'm a little uncertain that people would actually be interested in what I'd want to run. It couldn't hurt to poll for interest a bit.

Would anyone be interested in playing in a Cry Wolf game with Hatter as the shepherd, bearing in mind that:

♠ Hatter is running it, so it would definitely be a kill game.

♦ Hatter being Hatter, I'm considering running a little demon possession plot. Most likely, the wolves would be under Hatter's influence to one degree or another. That might just mean giving people an excuse to play like sociopaths when their characters normally aren't, or players willing, it might mean playing out some angst/conflict over that in posts where it wouldn't hurt the outcome of the game--wolf posts and kill posts, mostly. Unless you want to have private posts with Hatter. Or just to yourself! idk :|a

♣ There wouldn't be a whole lot of plot otherwise. Demon clown is messing with you, making you kill each other for hir enjoyment, and probably making you play other silly games in the processes. There might be some opportunity to kill Hatter if the sheep win. Just to keep things interesting.

♥ Hatter being Hatter, the wolves wouldn't be the only ones at risk. The likelihood of trolling, violence and badtouch are all high.

I don't have any hard and fast plans yet, but if it seems like it wouldn't be too much trouble getting twelve people, I'll probably try to set it up sometime in the next few weeks? Takers for a beginner kill game?

*Somewhere in camp - possibly in some unoccupied part of the underground labs, or a storm cellar, or a basement beneath one of the barns, it doesn't really matter because it doesn't look anything like whatever it used to be anyway - there is a room that can be most accurately be described as looking like some kind of truck load of theatre props exploded in the backroom of the world's most expensive bordello. But that description would be inadequate, since it would miss out on the hats. All of the hats. Numberless hats off every style conceivable lining the walls on twisted hooks.

In the depths of the room stands a bed, currently empty but seeming very well and enthusiastically used, though just how is a mystery considering.

Lit by candles, there is a long table, and at the table, sits a demon in a state of disheveled half-dress. In the demon's hand is a pipe, smoking, and at hir elbow is a glass of bourbon. The alcohol shares the table with a mess of paraphernalia, foods, drinks, and the occasional small, crawling thing.

The whole scene is so thick with an oppressive demonic aura, even lesser demons would risk being overwhelmed, were there any present.*

Kissing and Other Things It's Probably Not A Great Idea to Do with a Demon

So, I mentioned in my stats and permissions that kissing Hatter can give the demon powers over you, but in light of the fact that Hatter's been seeing more of this kind of action lately, it seems like a good idea to give it it's own post and break down the details a little more.

Why Kissing Hatter Is Totally Safe. Except...when it isn't.

Why isn't safe?

As I've said before, Hatter is really the demon Belial. One of seven demons with the title Satan in AS universe, and realistically speaking, probably one of the seven strongest demons in Hell. Nominally, Hatter is a Prince who serves Lucifer, but since Lucifer is sort of incommunicado due to plot, and has been for lskdjlskdjfs thousand years, Hatter doesn't so much answer to Lucifer as serve his interests out of loyalty and love. (This involves sacrificing about a thousand virgin brides. But that's another story.)

So Hatter is a big deal demon in AS universe. Are there stronger characters? Yeah, there are. But Hatter's still nothing to sneeze at, particularly in hir element.

It should go without saying at this point that this fact means that Hatter is not safe.

An example of this is that kissing a demon of Hatter's rank in AS universe allows them to put a mark on you, which as I've said before, allows them to exercise a variety of powers and influences over a person. These powers include but are not limited to possessing them, infecting them with lesser demons/demonic parasites, influencing their thoughts, poisoning them, etc. In essence, it's sort of like making a deal with that demon, but not necessarily getting shit for it. And in AS universe, this was potentially dangerous even to Setsuna in Alexial's body. It can be fought, it can be undone, and it's not all powerful. But it's a pretty big deal and even for reasonably strong angels and demons, it's dangerous.

It really is putting yourself in Hatter's hands, from an IC perspective.

And from an IC perspective, Hatter has been passing it up because 1) there hasn't been much reason to, and 2) it would get the angels in camp allll stirred up. At least, I'd think so. And once they found someone who had Hatter's mark, they'd fix that anyway, and not only would that mean not having the mark, it means drama and not being trusted and other things Hatter would prefer avoid.

But. Uh. Yeah, unsafe.

Why is it really safe?

I hope it goes without saying, but I'll make it explicit just to be sure, and because it's nice to be clear:

I would never, ever do something like that without triple checking with a player first.

There would be planning. There would be asking. You would probably get sick of telling me yeah, go ahead, if I ever did do something like this because I'd ask so many times. I've thought about playing with it in the future, and I still might, but I'd be tempted to do it with Neji or something just so I only have to worry about abusing myself.

I may be willing to accept other volunteers, potentially, but the point remains: none of that will happen as a surprise. I promise.

For everyone else, Hatter will continue just passing it up.

What else is safe except when it isn't?

Accepting gifts is a similar deal, though not as bad. For one, gifts are obviously easier to get rid of. Hatter's gifts, theoretically, could influence a person who accepts them though. However, anything that would or will ever do that will be clearly marked OOC. Same as above, though not to the same extent.

I have no plans of surprising people with that sort of thing.

So in conclusion:

Keep kissing Hatter. One likes it.

Hatter & Gender

I've been meaning to write about this for a while, but sort of ironically, I never seem to get around to it. (Ironic considering how willing I am to TL;DR given the opportunity, under most circumstances. I don't know, I fail at essaying about RP stuff.) But I think I finally have the motivation to get this one out of the way - partly because it'll be nice just to have some of this written down for myself, partly for other people who might be curious, and partly because I'm bored and it's sort of fun.

So, this would be a FAQ, if people actually asked me these questions. Since in most cases they haven't, it's more of an TAQ, I guess. Some of these are spoilers and some is head canon.

So what is Hatter?

A devil. And a very powerful one, in Angel Sanctuary universe. But since this is about gender and not something else, that's probably not the answer we're going for, is it? Well, this breaks down in a couple of ways - with Hatter, it's not a simple answer. It doesn't really bear a girl/boy/intersex answer, exactly. Since this is from Angel Sanctuary, it's a little more complicated than that.

Sex?

According to Hatter's explanation of this, angels are born neither male or female. Biological sex doesn't appear until later. God had planned (allegedly) for Belial to be female. Belial, however, found the idea of being female (or male) untenable, and so attempted to arrest hir own development. The result is a body that is, at least, relatively free of secondary sexual characteristics: slim hips, but also slim shoulders, flat chest, delicate face, etc.

As to what Hatter's actually packing in terms of primary sexual characteristics... AS tends to keep that vague. Aside from the fact Hatter's more than willing to flash them at little girls. We do know that. And Hatter would probably be more than happy to show you too. Just ask. Go ahead. It's totally safe.

There are parts of AS that seem to imply that the reason Hatter isn't really a woman is because xe's infertile, and others that make it seem like it's a bit more than that, at least in my reading. For myself, my inclination in playing is to follow AS's lead for the time being and not commit to any particular configuration when it comes to naughty bits. Where it's possible, I'll probably keep it vague. I think Hatter likes it that way.

However, as a guideline, Hatter wanted hir body to match a sort of desexed or neutrois-ish self-identification. How close xe came to that... ambiguous.

What's that leave?

Well, that's not the end of it. Hatter's gender presentation is less neutrois and more broadly genderqueer. Hatter's dress can range from very masculine, particularly hir suits, to fairly feminine with skirts and ruffles and what have you. It's also often flamboyant and costumey. I tend to think of gender as a costume for Hatter. It's something that's fun to put on and play with, an act or a role that can be enjoyable to play, to emphasize in different ways. Androgyny is clearly a common theme, but how it's balanced is flexible.

Ultimately, though, gender is more something that Hatter can do rather than something that Hatter has, and far, far more than it is something Hatter is.

What about curses/magic where gender is relevant? (I.e, Sohmas.)

As far as magic is concerned, Hatter has counted as female for Momiji. If you have some other kind of magic that makes Hatter's sex relevant, then let me know and we can figure it out.

What does that make Hatter's sexuality?

Hard to define. However, it's safe to say that Hatter is only interested in being asexual in the sense it means not having a biological sex, not in the sense where you don't have sex with other people. Though not strongly identified with a sex, Hatter is very sexual. What that sex means is varied, and sometimes not healthy, but does involve an actual sex drive and real sexual attraction, along with being a part of hir games, tools and weapons.

It's hard to call Hatter gay or straight or even bisexual, since all of those imply a certain gender binary that Hatter outright rejects being put on. Hatter might be called queer (in very many ways), and is, we'll say, very, very flexible in terms of who and what xe finds attractive.

Xe is also very flexible about hir motivations for having sex, so even if xe isn't attracted to someone, xe may well want to or be willing to fuck them.

It is worth noting that both Hatter's sex and sexuality factor into hir rebellion.

Does Hatter mind that characters assume xe's male/female?

Not really. Not in most circumstances. Context could render hir more sensitive, particularly if Lucifer were somehow involved, but as a broad generalization, Hatter isn't bothered by being identified as male or female. Depending on hir mood, xe make or may not correct people. But using gendered pronouns isn't going to send this demon clown into a rage.

What pronouns should I use?

It's probably a bit late for changing things, but ICly? Use whatever pronouns your character ought to use or perceives Hatter as. OOC, I'm not personally picky. I use xe and hir, but if you have other gender neutral pronouns of choice, go for it. English grammar is a little behind the curve on this one, so there's not like an official English language solution to this one.

Anything else?

I don't know, is there? You can tell me. If anyone has any questions or curiosity, or sees a problem with this, I am open discussion on most details. I'm very willing to consider other thoughts. I'm also cool for asking questions.

I don't know that I really expect anyone to have them, but.

So it's been said before, but the Mad Hatter is the demon Belial. That's not a name xe throws around--it's not for you--but that's about the size of it. That might ping you if you're aware of god/demon/angel stuff.

For the sake of having a reason not to just kill people at random, Hatter is going to be trying to tempt everyone. This could mean trying to seduce you and sweet talking, or it could mean trolling on your insecurities. Or both. They're not mutually exclusive!

So.

Since I'm not going to just troll people at random: Can I troll you? How can I troll you? What can I troll you about? Insecurities? Goals? Is there anything you specifically don't want poked at?
