Spring Stinks-A Little Bruce Book Hardcover – Picture Book, Jan. 5 2021
Purchase options and add-ons
Ruth the bunny is excited to share the smelly springtime smells of spring with Bruce!
But what will Bruce think of all that stink?
"Higgins' sparse text is humorously juxtaposed with his signature, detail-packed, engaging illustrations. The mouse-sized treehouse and the despondent, dripping moose are especially delightful. Bruce's unibrow is practically a protagonist in and of itself. Ruth's exuberance plays off Bruce's disgruntledness like a sweet pear off gorgonzola." —Kirkus Reviews

Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2024I was babysitting my grandkids and my granddaughter had me read this funny spring book. She was laughing at Bruce getting stung by the bees. And the wet moose. This series is really cute and funny at the same time. Mema and uncle gave this book to them I’m so glad I did. well loved book.

Huge hit with friend's 3-year-old!
I'm a fan of Ryan T. Higgins' books, especially the Mother Bruce ones. I got this one as a gift for a friend's daughter. It's smaller in size with a lighter narrative (think: board book plus) than a regular Bruce picture book. It's much easier for little hands to hold! Her daughter loved Ruth the bunny and the wet moose! I highly recommend this for younger Bruce fans. The art is gorgeous, the text makes a fun read-aloud and the humor is spot on for little ones. She wants more Little Bruce Books! Fantastic transition book.

DONNA L PETERSON5 out of 5 starsSpring can stink, especially on a farm
Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2025There are a lot of things I don't like about spring such as mud (and melting manure on the farm). There are plenty of positive things that Bruce and I need to remember about spring!

Patt O'Neil4 out of 5 starsI think a wet moose must smell pretty bad, too!
Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2023This is a smaller sized text than previous Mother Bruce books. True to form, Bruce was a grouch all the way through the book, but the lesson to be learned was it’s the small things that make some people happy. This book will be donated to the St. Joseph’s School in Chehalis, WA.
