About the authors

Cedar Sanderson is a multifaceted creator whose work spans both the literary and visual arts.
Cedar is celebrated for her engaging storytelling and her ability to captivate audiences with her vibrant imagery and thoughtful narratives. Her work not only entertains but also invites readers and viewers into worlds where science meets magic, and the mundane becomes extraordinary.
Her books, such as "Pixie Noir" and "Tanager’s Fledglings," showcase her unique blend of fantasy, science fiction, and mystery, often infused with a touch of humor and deep human insight.
Her art, varying from traditional sumi-e painting to digital creations, reflects a love for both the whimsical and the scientific, with influences from her passion for history, infectious disease, and food anthropology. Known for her eclectic career that includes roles as diverse as balloon twister, face painter, and scientist, Cedar has channeled her wide range of experiences into her writing and art.

C.V. Walter (1982 -) was born in Denver, CO. She tried to get a degree in reading but ended up with a BA in English Literature instead. One of her first memories is of watching Star Trek with her dad which turned into a weekly ritual growing up. Combined with her love of love stories and happy endings, is it any wonder that her books feature Romance and Adventure in the stars? She currently lives in Denver with her husband and two children.

Dorothy Grant is a pilot who ran as far away from Alaskan winters as she could get. Along the way, she married a South African and settled in north Texas. She now happily writes in domestic chaos with two cats, plenty of chocolate, and weather that's trying to kill her every which way but frostbite.

Rob Howell writes epic fantasy, space opera, military science fiction, alternate history and whatever else seems interesting.
He is a reformed medieval academic, a former IT professional, and a retired soda jerk.
His parents discovered quickly books were the only way to keep Rob quiet. He latched onto the Hardy Boys series first and then anything he could reach. Without books, it’s unlikely all three would have survived.
Now he and his wife run a quilt store, so he's learned more about fabric and quilting than younger him ever believed possible. However, it means he's surrounded by sewing machines, of which he has a healthy, non-irrational fear.

Sandra Medlock has had a business career that included editing pilot checklists for a Navy printing company, writing procedural manuals, instruction sheets, and newsletters for global corporations, and editing and publishing corporate and non-profit newsletters and training manuals. As a freelance journalist, she wrote weekly and monthly columns for three regional papers and creative nonfiction for regional magazines.
Sandra founded and directed two computer training companies and then transitioned to managing a computer training department for a global manufacturer. She left the training business to raise her daughter, now a young adult—but the desire to help educate adults and young people has never left her. She teaches and tutors creative and essay writing, language arts, higher-level math classes, and music classes for several instruments.
She is developing novels for publication and offers editorial services in creative fiction and nonfiction. She and her husband are caretakers of a senior and talkative cat, and two small, senior dogs.

Sam Robb is a devoted husband and the father of three teenagers. As such, he's developed a propensity for Dad jokes. He's also interested in long walks, urban photography, martial arts, and self-defense. When he's not walking around Pittsburgh taking pictures and making up stories to tell, he works as a software developer. Oh, yes - he also ran for President, once upon a time.

Chris “MOGS” DiNote retired from the United States Air Force as a full colonel with 25 years, 7 months, and 29 days of service, but who's counting? He deployed for Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and Noble Eagle and served in South Korea and Germany. Chris is a graduate of the US Air Force Academy Class of 1999, and a 2003 graduate of the USAF Weapons School. He writes and edits military science fiction and other speculative fiction genres for Raconteur Press. He blogs at the Substack site Upstream Reviews. Z. M. Renick was born in Boulder, Colorado and spent almost all her life there until she went to Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She returned to Boulder to do her PhD in theoretical computer science, then worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the related field of computational biology. She has also been writing science fiction and fantasy during the copious freetime that a PhD student and scientist usually has. As funding got shorter, however, her freetime grew more extensive, and there has been more time for writing.
Currently, she lives in Longmont with her husband, three-year-old daughter, and 80-lbs. Labrador retriever. When she’s not serving as the ringmaster of that particular circus, she’s working on putting out more books in the Seelie Court series, as well as creating other fantasy worlds.

Stories have captivated Caroline Furlong from early childhood. She considers it a minor miracle that as a child no one ever tripped over the toys she scattered while she set up queens and sent out heroes on quests. Reading meant that the toys got taken out less, and when it came to writing at thirteen or fourteen they were put away for good.
But she continues to dream up realms and heroes, monsters and androids. They are her toys now, parading across paper rather than a carpet. The slightest suggestion – a word, a movie, a flower, or a ship – can bring a new story to mind. So, where there are dragons that talk and spaceships to fly, that’s where she will be.
Her novelette “Halcyon” appeared as the cover story for Cirsova Magazine of Thrilling Adventure and Daring Suspense’s Summer Special. The story was the focus of John DeNardo’s appraisal of the Special for Kirkus Reviews. One of her short stories was the first entry in DAOwen Publications’ Unbound III: Goodbye Earth anthology. She is also a contributor at The Mind at War, The Everyman Commentary, and Tuscany Bay Books' blog. Her poetry appeared in Dragon Soul Press’ Organic Ink, Volume 2 anthology, and two of her stories have appeared in Planetary Anthology: Luna and Uranus. Another story by her appeared in Cirsova Summer Issue 2020. She has been published in Ember Journal and Cirsova Magazines 2021 Summer Issue. Her series, The Guardian Cycle, is available for purchase in ebook and paperback on Amazon.
Caroline enjoys history, reading, writing, swimming, traveling, astronomy, and classic cars. She lives in south central Virginia, U.S.A.

As a believer that the world is too small to live in one place, Evan has spent the last 25 years moving about with his wife. Together, they've raised two fantastic children who've flown the coup for their own adventures.
Evan and his wife have resided on a small farm in Southern Virginia for the last ten years. If Evan isn't at the keyboard writing, he's cooking, fixing his wife's roller derby skates, throwing the ball for his springer spaniel Elaine, or working somewhere on the property.
Evan's primary vice in life is literature. He is a jack of all trades regarding literary interests, including non-fiction histories, biographies, noir mysteries, modern-day thrillers, and classic fiction, such as Dumas and Chaucer. Evan enjoys space operas, high fantasy novels, and mecha novels the most.

Brian Cameron is a 911 dispatcher with nearly two decades of time on the console. His love of emergency services began as a small child riding with Dad to both fire and EMS calls in a small volunteer agency in the Fingerlakes region of New York. In 2002, he signed up as a volunteer with his local fire department. At the suggestion of his department's deputy chief, he applied for a position and was hired as a 911 dispatcher in 2005. He continued volunteering as a firefighter until 2013 when life shoved him into a U-Haul trailer and moved a thousand miles.
Since moving out of New York, Brian has continued to work as a 911 dispatcher, trainer, and supervisor.
He currently resides in the Kansas City area with his wife Jennifer and three obnoxious cats. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor hobbies, photography, and the shooting sports.

Create a caption 50 word story challenge
Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2023The folks at Racenteur Press challenged their writers and friends to create super short stories (50 words max) and the results are fun. Some of the stories were definitely home run hits; stories that created a vivid impression that had me wanting more. They have been creating amazing covers and interior art for their books and the artwork in this little book is no exception. They even threw in a few extra images into the book to challenge readers to come up with their own micro-story.

An interesting concept
Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2023The book is an interesting concept. The author was given a picture then had to write 50 words to go with the picture. Great fun! Most of them could be the opening paragraphs to a new short story or book.
