Purchase options and add-ons
During the cold winter months, we mirror the Earth as she lies quiet, waiting for the return of warm days. We gather around yule fires and perform rituals to lure back the sun. Drinking wassail, singing songs and exchanging gifts, some of us tell stories of the longest night.
Stories of new love and old magick.
Stories of the Holly King and his fight for the season.
Of death and lives well lived.
Of succumbing to the most feral parts of ourselves.
Of the Wild Hunt, and the wrath of Perchta.
And of fey magicks and sacrifices made for love.
Light a candle and bundle up. Within these pages you will find what you need for a hale and hearty Yule, a reconciliation with the shadows and a joyful return to the light.

Claire can't remember a time when writing wasn't part of her life. From the time she was a pre-teen, she wrote stories, most of them romances. She used to write stories with her friends, with each of them choosing a famous person or a character from their favorite TV series, and model the novels around that. One of her earliest stories, unfortunately lost to time, centered around the 1970s series Starsky and Hutch (she was partial to Starsky).
Although she read primarily fantasy and science fiction as a teenager, it didn't take long for Claire to discover Harlequin romances and their happily-ever-after endings. In a time when book covers would be ripped off the books for returns and then the actual books resold on the second-hand market, Claire devoured these coverless romances (and she regrets her role in the copyright violation), but always wanted to know what happened behind closed doors.
Fast forward and life, as life will, took precedence over creativity. She continued to write on and off, but it kept taking a back seat to other priorities such as paying the bills. When she started reading romances again, several years ago, Claire was delighted to find that the bedroom boundary first got broken, using euphemisms, and then romances went to their natural place of plain English and intense sexual situations. To her, anything goes within the boundaries of a loving relationship. She decided, if she enjoyed reading it, then she could take that natural next step and write it. And so a revived writing career was born.
Early literary influences include Anne McCaffrey, most notably her Dragonriders of Pern series, Marion Zimmer Bradley, and Elizabeth Lowell. Current authors she admire include C.L. Wilson, Nalini Singh, and Marjorie Liu.
Claire has many irons in the fire, most notably her first foray into urban fantasy as well as a paranormal series and many contemporary romances. The books she has self-published are just the beginning of what she hopes will be a long and rewarding career that brings romance to people.
The first book in her paranormal series, called "Fire Danger" is now available on Amazon!
Originally from Brookline, Massachusetts, Claire now lives in Los Angeles. In addition to writing she has an office job she loves, does animal rescue, reads and goes to movies. She loves to hear from fans, so feel free to drop her a line!

I enjoy writing romances because there's always a happy ending. I got hooked on the steamy novels after reading the Notebook. If I could, I'd travel all the time. Italy is one of my favorite countries to visit. For fun I play tennis and pickle ball. I’m also a huge fan of Zumba. When I'm not editing and writing, you can usually find me watching TV. Game of Thrones, Bridgerton and Outlander have all been favorites. I'm also addicted to the Bravo channel. The Housewives franchise in particular. It's like watching a train wreck.

Atmospheric, magical seasonal reading
Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2023I don’t know what I thought I’d get with this anthology but Yule defies expectations. Spooky, introspective, charming and above all atmospheric, these stories create a mood like nothing else I’ve read. Lovely illustrations and back matter amplify an otherworldly feel that rings through each story, but the variety in voice and style from piece to piece makes every tale a surprise.

So good, as expected
Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2023I’ll read anything put out by Spec Pub, because I know it will be uniformly excellent. This collection was no exception. Each story plucks a different thread about the special magic (and magick) of the cold, quiet winter months—hands down, my favorite time of year. These stories hit the mark: entertaining and revelatory.

Perfect Winter Reading
Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2023I truly enjoyed reading this collection of stories. Each one was a refreshing take on winter and magic and love and nature, and how these things exist to overlap and complement each other. I always enjoy reading something by River Eno, whose writing continues to pleasantly surprise me by triggering feelings and sensations while telling an interesting and satisfying story. At the same time, it's also nice to see her branch out into publishing. Not only are the stories well-chosen so that they weave a cohesive theme, but the thoughtful consideration given to the details of the book itself demonstrate her passion and reverence for books and good old-fashioned story telling.

Daniela2 out of 5 starsDisappointed
Reviewed in Germany on December 25, 2024Only four tales suited my taste. The tips for Yule are nearly impossible to read due to the small font size and unclear calligraphy. I've just finished reading the second book, Evergreen: Tales for Winter Shadows, and I like it much better.
