In the summer of 2019, I found myself at the lowest point of my life. For years, I had silently battled with depression, keeping it hidden from the world. But everything came crashing down that day, alone in my home office. Tears streamed down my face as I fought the demons that had tormented my soul for far too long.

Sitting in that chair, consumed by despair, I had a pivotal realization. In the midst of my darkest thoughts, my wife’s image flashed before my eyes. Through my tear-filled eyes, I pondered the impact my absence would have on her. The weight of her love and the resilience she had shown throughout our years together struck me. Deep in my heart, I knew that choosing death over life would bring unbearable pain to her.

Though I still wrestle with the anguish that haunts me, I have discovered ways to cope and find solace. One of those outlets is writing a weekly blog, where I pour my heart out and share uplifting messages with those who silently suffer. I want readers to feel a sense of connection and realize they are not alone in their battles. And with the recent self-publishing of my book, “Deadly Secrets of the Outer Banks”, I can add author to résumé.

Another avenue of healing for me is art. I have found that drawing helps me channel my focus, serving as a crucial first step toward improving my mental health. Every design and illustration you see on my blog is a product of my own hands.

Thank you for joining me on this journey of resilience, healing, and spreading light amidst the darkness. Together, let us navigate the complexities of life, extending a hand to those who need it and reminding ourselves that even in our darkest moments, there is hope.

    I thoroughly enjoyed this book about Corolla. It was a quick read and kept my interest throughout. I hope there will be a sequel of the FBI agent, Avery, pursuing the Falcon.

    I wanted to like this book, since I love Corolla.

    Unfortunately, the writing is trite, predictable, and clearly written by an amateur. The dialogue is better suited to a comic book.

    Since I gave up after 1/4 of the book, I won’t try to judge the storyline.

    The story kept my attention and was difficult to put down. A true mystery, story took turns I didn’t see coming. Can’t wait to read more books by Jackie Barker!
